Looks like you won't be getting Kanbei for the last chapter (which is a shame unless you have Max I guess), but with any luck you'll get Drake if you use all Andy. I mean, it's not possible to get Eagle and unlock the final final chapter if you don't use all Sami in Green Earth, so might as well do Andy. Drake's tsunami will surely come in handy for the final chapter.

Well, that's one of the downsides of playing blind, but I didn't want to spoil any of the surprises!

And it's almost time for a new chapter! I hope you'll follow it faithfully. :3

Chapter XII: Make like a Roadrunner, and Sprint!

Welcome readers, to another update of Let's Play Advance Wars! Since I was a bit under the weather yesterday (allergies and all) and I had an interview to attend to, I wasn't able to update.

But now I have probably the shortest chapter for you guys to read.

We start off with the usual pre-chapter banter of the enemy CO's.

User Image
Leave it to Drake to make a sailor's pun. -chuckle-

User Image
Eagle doesn't want to know what happens when he gets defeated by Orange Star for good. Wait, wouldn't he just run away?

User Image
"We're never on the field, so we're 100% safe. The troops though, I'm not so sure."

User Image
Hey, we fought pretty good for "fools who came into uncharted waters!" Give us some credit, Drake!

User Image
Eagle: That's nonsense! In every single map, they got the first turn! I think their coin they used to decide the first move is rigged.

Drake suggest something intelligent, such as the whole conflict being orchestrated by an outside force. Eagle doubts his theory, because that's just absurd. There are no such thing as "players" controlling them and this is not a "game!" This is war!

User Image
But Drake is determined to break the 4th wall and prove that there is a force outside pressing the buttons-- I mean, he's determined to see what and who is behind the scenes. Ahem.

User Image
But Andy was the last CO that I used, right? Surely Drake wouldn't lie about who he was facing. Or maybe he would to hide the fact he got beaten by a youngster.

User Image
Because of him being my favorite CO (and other reasons that commenters have told me), I choose Andy to face off against Drake again.

User Image
Mission 13: Probably the shortest time on a map in the entire game.

User Image
User Image
Yes Nell, we can very well hear you, whether we like it or not. Thank you very much for stating the obvious.

She goes on to say that there's a rocket unit that's vital for our victory later, and it's our job to defend it. How fun in a fog of war.

User Image
User Image
Our turn time limit: 10. It will be the longest 10 turns ever spent.

User Image
I won't, since I don't happen to have any seize units.

User Image
User Image
User Image
I start the mission going on the offensive. You know what they say. Offense is the best defense!

User Image
I probably should have moved this recon unit sooner. That will turn out to be my undoing, sadly.

User Image
This looks like a pretty good wall, doesn't it? What could possibly go wrong--

User Image
Rockets make every day go wrong! gonk

User Image
Battleships also wreck my units continuously. Drake has like, five of these hidden in the fog! I think he's taking revenge for me sinking all his battleships in the last map. D:

User Image
Drake's occupation force takes over my HQ's small island. I placed the missile unit that needs protection on one of my Landers. They gaze back wistfully like a dramatic war movie as their comrades fall to the mighty fist of the Germans-- er, Green Earth!

User Image
User Image
User Image
User Image
My lone submarine scouts the waters out. Reef-hopping ensues. Following in the reefs to stay hidden from enemy forces, the Lander with the missiles on board trust the submariners with their lives. To relieve the tension, they watch some very special videos that Andy isn't allowed to see.

User Image
At last, day 10 is here! But aren't Green Earth's navy on my tail by now?

User Image
Nell arrives in the nick of time, with her reinforcements, I guess. Way to make us do all the work and then steal the hero spotlight. >.>

User Image
I suppose I'm glad she backed us up too. -grumble-

User Image
User Image
And so Drake runs away to sail another day. And then everyone lived happily ever after.

User Image
I only got a B rank due to losing so many units. D: I wish I knew a better strategy. My whole army almost got wiped off the map!

User Image
I still got coins and a promotion though. Next map, I'll do better!

Next time on LP Advance Wars, we face off with the air ace, Eagle once more!

See ya then.

When I did this chapter, I managed to hold off on the island. I don't think it ever occured to me to use the lander for an escape, although it would have made for an easy time...

Anyway, not like staying on the island is all good. Drake'll probably break through anyway, it's just a matter of if it's too late for him to do any damage or not.

When I realized that I couldn't hold the island for very long, I knew I had to get the missiles to safety.

And then the thought occurred to me that any two units, no matter what they are, can go on Landers.

I had my submarine lighting the way because I didn't want to get ambushed, and coral reefs hide your units in Fog of War. I think I made some smart moves, but it's shameful that my sub ran out of supplies and I lost the rest on the island.
