With the release of so many good games this year, to me, one stands out amongst the rest, a full head-and-shoulders above the best of the bunch. That game is Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
This game has everything I want in a fantasy medieval open world rpg. It has factions, war, 2 different magic systems, bows and arrows, a large variety of spells, ability to seemingly at-will hop from one quest-line to another, the choice to just hunt in the wilds or explore caves, or just chop wood for hours and hours to safely make a lot of gold. Did I mention dragons?! Yea, this game has just about everything you could possibly want from a game of this genre.
It is also by far the least glitchy Bethesda game I've played to date. Not to say that it doesn't have its glitches, but it doesn't have nearly as many as their other games. As more patches are released I expect there to be less and less glitches.
Also note that you can pump 300 hours into this game and still have plenty to do to keep you busy for quite a while.
I've only got about 150hours in it so far, but I am confident that I can just keep exploring, town-to-town, settlement-to-settlement and find a plethora of side-quests to do.
I recommend this game very highly, it is available for ps3, xbox 360, and pc.
If you have the money for it, get it. =]
