He wanted to wring something's neck, specifically, that little dark mokai's. How dare she? He chewed his lip till it bled and tasted the copper-like sensation on his tongue and spit as he half walked, half limped down the street. A metal brace was rigged round one of his legs, helping him walk, andhe had his long black apron on, splattered with oil and other grime. His welder's mask was atop his head, welders goggles over his eyes, his face, unclean, hair, unkempt.
He was a horrid man, made for this time, the night, and he was angry.
His keys jingled as he hobbled down the nicer streets, and came toa house.
"Dis is the one boss."
"Go track er, she gets away you'll be in the box next!" he growled and two skinny, half-fed men took off running.
The mechanic heard of this man, his champion mokai, and that he had caught a feral, now, it was time to make deals.
He stomped up the steps, the night breathing it's first few breathes, sky black as his pupils, as his fist pounded on the door.

Even though the sun had set long ago it seemed, James Boyd Lindon was still very much awake. His wife had already settled their little boy down for the evening, and had retired herself. Him on the other hand? He was too busy making training schedules for Ai and Inali, making sure they would be working twice as much, so they wouldn’t have any more losses under his belt. Even though he had really broke even last week, gaining the prize money from entering his own two mokai against each other, he didn’t want to suffer the embarrassment of two losses again.
Tucking the last bit of paper in a pile, (One visible showed Ai’s name, the other, Inali), the slightly heavy man stretched. It was getting late, so retiring for the evening was very much on his mind. That was, until, pounding on his door had brought his attention elsewhere.
“No worries hun, I got it.” He stated to his likely sleeping wife, grumbling to himself as he headed for the door.
His hand twisted on the doorknob, slowly creaking it open. “What in blasted name are you doing here at this time?” Though JB didn’t know the man, he had seen him around the settlement a few times. He lived in the area that JB and Leticia never traveled much.

By the looks of the man, they were in two different classes, though they seemed to have an itch for the same thing - winning, or in the mechanic's case, winnings. His, now lost, to that damned mokai.
"M'sorry, but I was told to come to you. There was a break in, large sum of money taken, heard you had the best, unless I'm mistaken," the mechanic said, rubbing his oily fingers together. He was beginning to lay the bait, play his game, he needed this JB on his side, not an opponent.
"I'm 'the mechanic,' dun think we've met and I'd shake your hand if I hadn't been working," he said holding his hands up, palms out. Though his working had been drinking, not too long ago. "Was told you own the champ, and caught a feral not long ago. The break in was by a mokai, a feral mokai, the one I had that got away," he said with a grumble.
"Didn't know if you hired your services out, for a trade, perhaps."

“Of course you are not mistaken.” Even though his mokai only had one loss each, at least their reputation of being ‘the best’ was still floating around. It just made hot air go straight to his head.
Though, he quickly was deflated as the other introduced himself. ‘The Mechanic?’ Even JB knew a sketchy guy when he saw it. A small look of disgust appeared on his face, as the man showed the greasy hands. “It’s…fine.” Not like JB would want to touch that hand to begin with, even if it were cleaner.
“I own Ai, who is a champion.” He didn’t mention her recent downfall. No need at the point, he would still emphasize who his mokai were the best. “And yes, with the help of Ai, we caught Inali.”
With nose twitched a bit, hearing about a break in. Part of JB wanted to ask if he was sure it was a mokai. After all, living in the parts that the mechanic had, it wasn’t unlikely to see break ins by people. “Rotten luck you have there then, if you ask me.” He resisted a roll of his eyes, eyeing the filthy man.
“Depends on the price, ‘the mechanic’.” JB could always be won over by a bribe.

"I work on the tech happenings round here, to keep them going, invent new objects to help. Even built a few objects to help train fighters, I might say, worked for a long while, won a lot of money with the mokai I trained, how else you think I keep my business going where I live, sir, eh?" he said with a toothy, crooked grin.
"Cept that female got out with helps from another like her, we can't have ferals running about here, its good your Ai helped catch one of them, hope he stays on his leash for ya."
With Jb's words, the mechanic shrugged.
"Rotten, fixed, eh, either way, I just want the money back, if nothing else, the mokai again so I can fight her. She was a fierce beast in the pit, had true, pure wild blood in her, least, thats what I think." He had to think fast, proposition, if the mokai had dropped the money, what else he have to offer?
"We catch her, tell ya what, as I said, she was a fierce beast in the pit. Have the papers to prove it. You can breed her with yours if ya want, keep the offspring or sell em off, long as I can keep her where she is. Regardless, I'll offer you my services, if you ever have a problem with yer mokai, for whatever reason of course," he said, not trying to insult anyone in his time of need, "I'll help your mokai with the training I did with mine. Brings out the fire in them, but, can also keep them in chains at your heels, if ya know what I mean, sir."

“I’d have to see her in the pit before I make any deals with her lineage. I know my mokai are champion from the fighting stats they have received. Unless you have documentation on how well your mokai has done, I won’t make any deals like that.” JB wasn’t stupid. He knew some people could be all talk in no game when it came to the fighting world.
Though his second offer intrigued him. He definitely could use help with some training sessions, especially if Inali kept trying to wander off. Luckily lately he hadn’t, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t try it in the future.
“I’ll take partial that offer. Just for going out on this…excursion, and using my time, your ‘downpayment’ will be that of your hand in training. If and When we catch her, we will talk about what the remainder payment will be.”
He didn’t want to hold out his hand, but he couldn’t be someone of word without making a handshake official. “Tell me, ‘Mechanic’, do we have a deal then?”

"I've got her old papers if you want to see them, if it makes the deal any sweeter too, I'll even let you pit her for a bait if ya like," he did used to put that dark female in, chained up to let weaker, less skilled fighter's trained. She hated it, but, it made him more money. "You can make quite a cash that way."
He knew JB, this well to do man, wouldn't want to touch his hands, so a verbal agreement was fine with him, "Train and give ya some stuff to help them stay put in the yard, if ya want, made some special leads and collars for that," she said with a sly grin.
"Its a deal sir, I got two men tracking her now, and I don't think she had left the settlement yet, can't find a way out, I 'ppreciate it."
Now it was time to take back what was his.
