You are the apple...

So some of you may remember my thread a while back about my best friend who I love like no other...

Well a lot has happened since then. We've kinda decided we're in love, but we're not dating. We've made major plans for our lives because we can't really see ourselves without the other. Now, while a lot of things could change in the future, we have our base plan and will alter it as needed.

Anyways, on to the point of this thread. The current plan is for me to go there once I graduate and spend a few years studying near London while I live with her. After I finish, we want to move back to my hometown since I'll have more family still around than her.

My question is: Do any of you have any experience with traveling between the US and the UK (particularly England)? If so, can you give me an idea of when we should start addressing the visa issues and such? We have approximately 3 or so years between now and when I can move there and we're already starting to sort things out. But I'd like some advice from anyone who's had experience with traveling between the two countries

I REALLY would love to give you advice on that, but I haven't had to deal with the immigration offices in the UK, I've only ever passed through there. I just know that there is a 90 day limit to your stay before you are legally and illegal immigrant (lolwut?) Or at least, that is how it is here (Malta) so I am assumin the similar for another EU country. But I don't live in the UK at all so, sorry for the lack of substantial advice...

I don't know much about the actual process but I'm from England and know some people who've moved over here. I guess you'll be on a student visa. I'm not that sure about how it works but I've got a couple of friends studying over here from other countries (not the US but outside the EU so I guess they're in a similar situation) and I could try and talk to one of them, anyway, they didn't know they were going to have a place over here at Uni until less than a year before they came so I'm sure you don't have to apply for a visa yet.

Sorry I couldn't be more help but if I see one of them at any point soon I'll ask them about it though.

If you could talk to them, that'd be great. Any advice would be wonderful. I'm not exactly sure what visa I'll be on, as from what I've read, the student visa only lasts for 6 months and we were figuring about 3-4 years at the one uni.
