It was dark, about an hour after the candidates had gone to bed, yet a number of them were still awake. Still watchful. Cyrci was one of those candidates as she sat on her bed waiting. In truth she wasn't entirely sure what she was waiting for. Orlina had mentioned wanting to go on some sort of adventure and though she was reluctant to risk getting into trouble she was even more reluctant to leave her friend.
She had a distinct feeling that her Orlina was up to something she shouldn't be. An even strong feeling hinted and niggled at her that this might have something to do with Cyrci teaching the younger girl wher speech. Not much mind you, just little bits and pieces that the girl was able to sound out correctly and what certain movements meant. Not that she could do much without an actual wher to use as an example. Thinking back on it the other girl had mentioned wanting to see the Dens. Was that what this was about. Sighing quietly Cyrci sat half asleep in the dark.
Orlina over the past sevenday or so had become Cyrci's almost constant companion and the older girl would be flat out lying if she were to say she wasn't thrilled. Her friend was like the little sister she never had. These feelings made it twice as difficult to follow her instinct and just stay put out of trouble. After all she couldn't just leave Orlina. What if she got hurt? Or worse killed? She could get stuck or caught. So many many things could happen and Cyrci knew that if they did and she wasn't there to protect her friend she'd never forgive herself. Maybe it was just the wher in her, but as far as Cyrci was concerned no one, and she meant NO ONE, touched her friends.

Orlina waited until most of the girls had settled down to sleep and then slipped out of bed and into her shoes. She took care not to rouse those near her, mostly for politeness' sake, and crept across the room to get Cyrci
It wasn't that they would get in trouble for visiting the wherhandler's building, per say, so much as it was they would get chastised for being out of bed late just because they were Candidates and young. Orlina didn't understand that, but she assumed it had to do with the Candidate Lessons they all went through. Being tired the next day or something. Unfortunately, the only time to visit whers was after dark, and Orlina had wanted to pay them a visit. As she had told her new friend, she hadn't been too close to any whers, and she planned to rectify that. She had sort of warned Cyrci what they would be up to earlier, but she'd probably have to clarify that. She wasn't sure why she hadn't thought of that until now, but she hoped Cyrci wouldn't object too much. It would be nice to have the girl along on an adventure.
"Cyrci," she whispered softly, tugging on the edge of the girl's blankets. If she wasn't up, Orlina didn't want to shake her. Some people reacted badly to being woken from sleep, and Cyrci seemed like the type to have that kind of instinct.

Luckily for Orlina and Cyrci both the older girl was still up. Sliding one hazel gold eye open she peered up into the darkness at her friend and smiled. "I'm up." She whispered pushing her cover back to slide from her bed. Grabbing her shoes she quickly tugged them on and made to follow the younger girl.
Her first real adventure in the Weyr, this should be interesting. Glancing at Orlina Cyrci tried to stifle her worry somewhat over the younger girl. After all it wouldn't do to get scared and be unable to act.
