"What'll you have sir?" The bartender had noticed a young man around his early twenties walk in. There weren't too many people in the building, it was just your cliche run of the mill bar. The lighting was quite dim and the sound of Christmas music was almost drowned out by the sound of static white noise.
"You sell cookies here?" The young man asked quietly as he approached the bartender's counter.
"I guess you aren't from around here..." The bartender shook his head as he leaned in closer to the younger man. "Ever since those damn Zero bots showed up not a single chocolate chip has entered through those doors."
"Zero bots? The heck are those?"
"They are the units that make up Zero Omega's army. Designed to scout any sort of sweet treat and dispose of it immediately, crumb and all."
"And if they catch a person with any sort of treat?"
"Forever imprisoned in Zero Omega's salt mine. Never to taste anything sweet for the rest of their life."
"Doesn't this affect Christmas as well?" By now both the bartender and the young man were speaking with hushed voices as if their subject of conversation was as illegal.
"That's his plan. No sweets. No Christmas. And it seems there isn't anything we Gaians can do about it." Just then the doors burst open and a woman came in screaming and crying for help.
"WILLIAM! THEY ARE TAKING OUR BOY! YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING! THEY CAN'T TAKE HIM!" The woman fell to her knees and continued to cry. People in the bar began to panic and other patrons decided to run out the door to find a safer place to hide.
"No. Not my son." Almost instantly the bartender leaped over the counter and ran out the door. Shortly after the young man followed to see what the whole commotion was about. It was utter chaos. Crowds of people running in every which direction while gray scaled bots chased them.
The young man looked around to see a bunch of bots crowding over a single area. The sound of grunting and metal being smashed could be heard. Until, CRACK, the bartender was hurled out of crowd flying into the wall next to the young man.
The young man ran over to make sure William was alright. "Hey, kid...I know we just met... But please do me a favor, save my son Samuel..."
"The name is Mark. And, I promise to bring your son back safely." For being as scrawny as he looked, Mark helped the giant of a bartender up and walked him into a nearby building. "Rest up, I'll be back shortly." With William taken care of, Mark turned around and slowly began walking towards the army of Zero bots. There had to be at least thirty of them hanging around the center of the city. The pleas for help grew louder causing Mark to pick up his pace. It seemed he would be doing more than just saving one person today.

Mark charged towards the bots and used one to vault himself to its front lines. The sounds of people cheering for joy could be heard as the young man halted the entire army. "You have two options. Let everyone go and run off to your master. Or find yourselves laying on the ground in pieces." The bots raised their axes and began clanking them against their chest. In an instant they surrounded Mark, all of them clanking in unison.
"I was hoping this would be your choice." The young man gave a toothy grin before unsheathing his blade. It looked to be an old katana, worn down from use and time. The blade was rusting in some spots and the hilt looked to be falling apart. "I hope you are ready, because I am not going to hold back." A bot began to charge directly towards the young man, it swung its axe around left and right but was unable to even get close to Mark. As soon as the bot when to swing again Mark dashed in and stuck his sword through the bot's midsection stopping it from continuing any further movements. The young man kicked the fallen bot down and was then confronted with two more bots charging at him. Yet again, the Zero bots swung their axes around recklessly, almost in hopes to some how graze Mark and spill his blood. "You're gonna have to move faster than that if you want to hit me." Mark was now in the middle of both bots who swung their axes at the same time. One swinging higher than the other.
"Whoa!!" The young man laughed as he barely rolled out of the way causing the bots to smash each other's heads in. Mark's blade seemed to repair itself with every minute he remained in battle. It no longer looked rusted nor did the hilt look like it was going to fall apart after another swing.
After he had cut down another four bots Mark began to whisper to himself. "The embers of the fallen will one day burn brightly as the fires of justice.." As soon as the last word was spoken, Mark's sword began to emit a red glow. "TAKE THIS!" He swung his sword down and a cyclone of fire was created and completely decimated the bots that got caught in the swing.
"Are you scared yet?" The young man laughed as the bots broke what formation they had and continue to carelessly swing their axes.

It almost seemed as if Mark was not trying too hard at all to dodge the Zero bot's reckless attacks. "You guys aren't so tough at all!" Mark taunted before jumping on top of a charging Zero bot and ripping its head piece off with his bear hands. It took a moment for all the bots to get back together and surround Mark once more. "Heh, you guys can't be serious." The young man grasped the hilt of his katana with both hands and raised his blade in the air. A tail of flame circled around the blade while the bots began to smack their axes against their metal frame again.
"LET'S END THIS NOW!"

As Mark charged into the battle one of the bots met him half way and threw its axe in a tomahawk fashion. The young man easily avoided the attack by spinning to the right and cutting the bot's arms off with one clean upward swing. After kicking the bot down Mark continued to press forward, the flames that circled his blade grew stronger and burned even brighter.

"BURNING JUSTICE!" With another mighty swing of his sword, an even bigger cyclone of flame was created and incinerated more than half of the remaining Zero bots. All that was left were random puddles of liquefied metal, and the few bots that managed to avoid the devastating attack.
Mark looked around and sheathed his blade, and all the flames that engulfed the area immediately went out. The townsfolk who watched the fight from a far were in awe, while the prisoners were perplexed as to why they weren't harmed by any of them flames.
"Now! Let me ask you that remain. Will you retreat?" The young fighter lifted his fist up. His energy nearly depleted from using that last attack. Once again the bots circled Mark and clanked their axes against their armor.
"So be it."

ZERO BOT ARMY DEFEATED
Mark began to take shallower breaths as the three remaining bots began to advance towards him. The young man dropped his blade, and raised his fists ready to take anything his enemies were going to dish out. The clanking stopped and an ax came swinging down in front of Mark only to be caught at and pushed to the side. "HYAAHHHH!" Mark swung a wide right hook smashing his knuckles into the bot's armor. The bot flew back, its body completely caved in and sparks shot out from its neck and head. Shortly after, Mark found himself ducking out of the way of a horizontal swing and countering its attacker with a swift kick to the head knocking the Zero Bot's head clean off. "Just one left..." Mark mumbled to himself. He stared down the last bot who readied itself for the next attack. Both he and Mark charged straight for each other, both knowing how this fight will end.
The Zero Bot swung its ax upward, but it seemed to have swung to early. Mark jumped to the side as the Zero Bot swung its mighty ax down. Before the ax could even hit the ground, Mark kicked the handle out of his opponents hands knocking it off balance. He then grabbed the bot in a muay thai like clinch and began striking it with a flurry of knee strikes. Left, right, left, right, his knees continued to dent up the bot's body before throwing it to the side. The fight was finally over, and the people of the city were safe for now. People came out of their homes and hiding places to see the aftermath of the fight. Pieces of Zero Omega's army lay around, some sparking while others were just melted down to blobs of scrap metal. In the center of all the ruin they could see a Mark using his sword to keep himself standing.
"Hah...Hah...That took a lot more energy than I thought.." He looked around to see the towns people and gave a big thumbs up. A loud roar of celebration occurred soon after. William came through with another crowd of men, each one holding some sort of item to break open locks.
"Come on we gotta get everyone out of here before that b*****d Zero Omega sends more bots this way!" William rallied the crowd before he approached a fatigued Mark. "What can I say. The people of Durem really owe you one." The giant bartender helped the young man stand up straight and shook his hand. "I personally owe you one. If it wasn't for you. I probably would have never seen my boy again. Thanks..."
"No sweat.. It really was no big de-...."
