That's just a habit I picked up from my dad, who always says that.
Might you be asking because you do speak it?Well, I try to speak it, my native tongue is English. I learned it in high school, and I am trying to relearn it. @___@ I kinda wanted someone to practice with once I got better. There was once a really big German guild on gaia, but I don't see it listed anymore. Thats cool that your dad says that! Does he speak German?
Ah, well that's cool. It shouldn't be very hard to re-learn something. It's starting from scratch that sucks.
Well, I guess you could say he does a wee bit. He knows quite the amount of words, but not how to use them in a sentence. I'm the same with Japanese. ;p We have a bad habit of studying things that interest us, but quitting shortly afterward.I know what you mean! I would like to learn Japanese eventually, but it seems really intimidating because of all the kanji one would have to learn. I am curious, how did you start to learn Japanese? Was it through book, class, or the internet? or something else? I know a few words, but that is just through the random anime I wacthed. xp

The college I am going to only offers Spanish, French, and I think Chinese. Your highschool sounds awsome! By the time I left highschool they cut German, and kept only French/Spanish. Unfortunatly, not enough people were interested in German. I think the school wanted people to learn "usefull" languages. They even had a Latin class at one point.
