A question for Koa'Ki Meiru

I was asked by a good friend "Does Koa'Ki Meiru Ghoulungulate's effect work for the Koa'Ki Meiru destruction effect during the end phase?" And I tried looking it up....I found nothing, And I assume not...But I'm asking for him, for I could be wrong.

I think that's part of the point of its effect to protect monsters when you can't fulfill their maintanance cost, but I might be mistaken.

no. a maintence cost is not considered a card effect, so it would not protect Koa'ki Meiru's from their self destruction.

Yeah, I thought it might have been that, seeing as how skill drain also doesn't protect against that.
