REGARDING THE PURPOSE AND FUNCTION OF A USER AND GUARDIAN

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ WHAT IS A USER? WHAT IS A GUARDIAN?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXUser is the term used for anyone with magical ability. They are the minority of the population, and
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX the only ones that can ever obtain a Guardian. A Guardian is an artificially created creature with a
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXmind, personality, and most importantly, soul of its own. They are BIOLOGICALLY genderless,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXbut normally take on the characteristics of a human gender. They are built like barbie/ken dolls.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXMeaning they have no junk. Meaning they also do not need to eat. At all. Ever.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ USERS HAVE TO GO TO THE ACADEMY. BUT DO I HAVE TO GO TO THE ACADEMY AS A KID?

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXcourses they choose on their own to complement future class choices. Also they take a require
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXreading/writing/basic math course.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ HOW DOES ONE COME ABOUT RECEIVING A GUARDIAN? ARE THEY GIVEN THEM? ARE THEY GIFTS?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXNo. Guardians are not magic gifts. They are not trinkets to be collected. They are not tools that
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXcan be made and given. When a User is deemed ready by the Seers and the Council they go to
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe Tree/Forge (depending on faction) and they put in a raw material, and a piece of their magic.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXBe this tossing in a small flame, shooting an aether arrow, or writing their name on a piece of
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXpaper and putting that in. The Forge/Tree makes the Guardian on their own and out pops a brand
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXnew Guardian.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ WHEN'S AN ASSESSMENT?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXIt is a process by which you are judged ready enough to bring a Guardian into the world. There are very
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXmany factors for choosing this. And the Seers play a large roll in it. Some Users don't understand why
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthey're chosen when they are, but later in life, they'll usually tell you that it was right.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ WHO ARE THE SEERS?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXSeers are a small group of people gifted with almost perfect future sight. They play a large roll in the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXCouncil's decisions and are the key to knowing when a User is ready.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ WHEN DO ASSESSMENTS START?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXUsually when your class turns 17 Assessments start.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ WHEN DO THEY END?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXNever. If a User doesn't have a Guardian by the time they graduate at 18 they're just put into internships
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXto further train and grow. Some Users never receive a Guardian. (See Haldo, the old Master Wizard)

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ OK, I HAVE A GUARDIAN. ARE THEY STRONGER THAN ME?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXNo. A User can TOTALLY be "stronger" than their Guardian. They're just viewed as stronger because
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXonce they advance to stage 2 they have access to their own, and their User's magics. They can use
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXboth at once, or in tandem with their User. That does not equate to being physically stronger, or even
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXmagically stronger, they simply have a far higher level of potential to hit.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ DO GUARDIANS AND USERS OFTEN FALL IN LOVE?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXNo. This is very rare. And WEIRD AS BALLS when it comes to a User falling in love with their own
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXGuardian. But it isn't unheard of.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ OK, DO GUARDIANS FALL IN LOVE IN GENERAL? THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS SO CAN THEY EVEN HAVE RELATIONSHIPS?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXBeing physical isn't all a relationship is about. So obviously yes. They can fall in love with other
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXGuardians or even humans if they're accepted enough. They may not have the parts but they still
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXhave "hot spots" so to speak, trying to keep this PG. But often a Guardian relationship is very much
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXabout the emotional connection, and things like being comfortable, being trusting, not just being sexually
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXactive. But they very much have the capacity and understanding for love. Or at least they should if they've
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXbeen shown, taught, and experienced life as any normal citizen would.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ WHEN A GUARDIAN PROCEEDS TO STAGE 2, WHAT'S THE PROCESS?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXMost will start to worryingly leak magic, and often be in pain and very weak/tired. The majority tends
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXto sleep it off until they eventually burst from their metal/plant casings into people. They are obviously
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXnaked at that time. Newly "Ascended" Guardians will often wear loose and draped clothing due to skin
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXbeing very new, joints being very achy and everything being very much over stimulating, confusing, and
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXeven uncomfortable. Please remember that the art on your cert DOES NOT mean that's the clothing they
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXwear for the rest of their lives until stage 3. PEOPLE CHANGE CLOTHES OFTEN. IT'S SANITARY TO
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXDO SO. As they continue to develop and grow as people they often grow into their own styles and their
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXown personalities. (Yes, yes even as a FS pet the way you develop your character(s) as you continue
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXon influences me in their stage 3 art.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ DO USERS/GUARDIANS AGE?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXUsers in general, due to being tied to magic, age very very slowly. And age very little over their long lives
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX(hence why they're the minority of the population). Guardians live as long as their Users and rarely age
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXmore than a decade or so. When their User dies, so do they. Those left behind are done so through trauma
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXand abrupt ends. They may survive a few months after their User's death, but if they don't simply fade away
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX(think love birds when one dies the other often does as well), they'll eventually loose themselves and get lost.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThey're painful creatures to behold.

ASSESSMENT
AN IN DEPTH LOOK INTO THE PROCESS

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX❧ A SHORT PRIMER.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXAssessment, as it's called, is the process by with young Users are chosen by the Seers and given
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXa Guardian. This usually starts young, when you display magical ability (because it usually shows very
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXyoung). You're placed in school at the Citadel. Along with normal classes, maths, literature, history, etc.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXlike any other non-magical child, you're also given special classes. In the beginning it's basic control of
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXmagic classes along with a class dedicated to your "school" of magic. (Fire, air, life, oddballs, etc.) As
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXyou grow older and start to come into your own, start to discover what you can do, what you like, etc.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXyou may elect to pick up special courses, extra training, etc. that would lead you down a path to a certain
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"class" or job description later on.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXWhile in this school you're put in classes separated by years. Generally everyone in the same year is
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe same age, give or take a few months. When your year turns about 17 Assessment starts. Normally
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe head of the class as far as grades and training goes, hits it first, but it's not unheard of for middle of
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe class to get their Guardian first. Once you are Assessed and you have your Guardian you'll complete
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXout whatever's left of your school year and then move on into internships or apprenticeships to get you
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXready for your first missions. Some people aren't Assessed before the end of their final school year, it's a
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXcommon actually, about 50/50 whether or not you acquire a Guardian in school or not. Those that don't
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXmove on to real-world internships, continuing to find out where they want to go in life, what they want to do,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXuntil the Seers deem them as ready and able to handle the burden.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXAssessment itself starts with your medal being delivered. All Users receive a medal (A Mistwick specific
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXtradition), a moderately sized circle of metal, generally pinned to the breast of a good set of clothes cause
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXyou gotta look good on your big day, and embossed with a symbol of the Mother or Father gods. This isn't
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXso much as a religious thing as it is a tradition thing. The massive bell in the Citadel will chime, normally
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXearly in the morning, on the day when all Assessed are meant to go to their respective places (The forge if
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXyou've chosen a metal, and the tree if you've chosen a plant) to go through with the ceremony. (Choosing an
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXessence is a very personal thing many people often think about for years)

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe ceremony begins with you picking out your chosen essence, the form of it is always your choice. You may
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXhave snapped a branch off a tree on your way or you may have had a little copper statuette of Doth for years,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXregardless, you present it to the official presiding over the whole affair (War or Gaia in this case), they give you
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXa few insightful words, or in one case a simple 'congrats, go throw it in', and you move onto to toss it in. The forge,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXyou simply stand on the raised platform over it and toss it in, the tree you toss your essence into the large pool
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXof water it grows out of. You will also toss in a piece of your magic, the form of which completely depends on the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXperson and their own magic. A fire user may toss in a flame, a User with an non-tangable skill may "throw in" a
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXprayer. It's really something you have to come to terms with on your own.After that, be it a minute or an hour, they
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXchurn and broil and sometimes spark, it's always different, and out comes your Guardian. Some crawl out, some fall
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXout, some are dumped out with a gentle kick, regardless they're a little unsteady at first, but they have a name and
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthey know yours. It can take a couple hours or a couple days for the brief confusion of sudden existence to shake
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXoff and the real personality of the Guardian to start shining through. Just like people they're all different and they'll all
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXgrow up to be different people with different likes and dislikes and quirks and bad habits. But they're with you for life,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXso there's that.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXSome Assessments are with big groups of young adults all getting their Guardian, some invite their parents or family,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXsometimes it's a very private thing, just the User and the presiding NPCs. (War & Yomer or Gaia & Hallai)

GUARDIAN BIOLOGY
HOW THEY FUNCTION

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXTo state the obvious and get that out of the way, Guardians are not biologically male or female, they're
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXcompletely genderless, they have no genitals to speak of. They also do not function the same as any
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXanimal on a biological level, they do not need to eat or drink, they don't digest anything with they do eat,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXt just dissolves into energy. Should a Guardian be wounded they would not bleed blood, they would
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXbleed magic, often white aether, sometimes it's changed to their affinity, such as fire, water, sand, etc.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXPlant Guardians may also bleed sap depending on where they may be cut. (They can eat, they have
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXtastebuds, but most will take a liking to a certain food instead of all food.)

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXNow onto the important bit that I'm sure everyone is on the edge of their seat waiting to know. Can and
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXdo Guardians have sex?

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXKeeping in mind that this is GAIA of all sites, technically in this shop, no. But we all have our own personal
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXhead-canons as far as relationship we build with our characters go and say someone has the urge to RP
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthose canons offsite, as I cannot stop you, I want to at least make sure you know how it works. And also
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXgive you fuel for ridiculously awkward situations.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXGuardians don't have "hot spots" in the same way people do, what with the lack of junk, there's also the fact
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthat some Guardians even have dulled nerves depending on what a part of their body is made of. Instead they
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXhave sensitive spots depending on where their magic is closest to the skin. This can be in the hands,the feet,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe back, the throat, anywhere really. More often than not it's related to their own magics and how it's used.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXWhen Guardians decide to couple it's often more a romantic interest than a sexual one. (There are the rare
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXexception, but more often than not, it's romantic.) It's "stimulating" their core when they do indulge in the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXphysical act, meaning upon completion it's an all-body sensation, not a centralized one like a human. Due to
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthis Guardian relationships are focused a lot more on the emotional connection with their partner, it also means
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe Guardians slip much easier into a casually intimate friendship.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXLong story short: no, your sex crazy or overtly sexual guardian does not make a lot of sense and people will
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXlook at them funny and probably avoid them. No, your Guardian does no have any biological functions that the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXanimal they may be modeled after has, no matter how important it is to that animal in real life (natural poisons,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXgender based scent glands, etc.etc.) Guardians that are biologically poisonous generally are not, they just
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXhappen to have an easy natural weapon in regards to fangs and barbs.
