Jaslyn was in the kitchen, stirring a large pot of boiling stew. It had different ingredients that included carrots, potatoes, celery and onions all chopped up into pieces. The broth had the taste of Headbeef from the meat she cut and broiled before adding them to the pot. There were some spices that she will not let the author tell you since that is the secret of what makes her stew the best. Of course this was one of the many things she's done here.
It would make her mother proud if she heard that she was cooking and helping around the kitchen. After all her mother was supportive of her being in the Weyr where her step father's family lived and learning all she could in the year she has been here but sometimes her mother did miss her if the letters were anything to go by.
Smiling to herself, Jaslyn ended up deep into her mind thinking back to all her lessons and learning more about her Uncle. He was her foster father here and well, he did remind her of her own step father so she didn't feel as homesick as she was in the beginning. Sighing softly, she set the stew to cook with the top one but leaving a bit of the stem to go out.
Turning to the oven, she made sure that the bread she was baking was coming along well. Then if she didn't have enough to do she went ahead to start making dessert. Mind you this was to feed alot of mouths who happen to walk into the kitchen to see what was cooking.
