PostPosted: Wed Nov 16, 2011 3:09 pm

The Hall of Fame is in the process of being updated and to do so we need a new batch of racers to put in it. The current update will have a maximum of 4 new Hall of Fame members but I would like you to only post 3 votes. I will say this now so that no conflicts are made in the future, the votes do not determine the people being entered. The votes are simply to make the people voted for known and the more times they are voted for the more reason there would be to find out why that person is considered Hall of Fame worthy. It may seem pointless but it is best to get as many opinions on the topic as possible. Feel free to post why you voted for a specific racer and possibly even list why they are clearly hall of fame worthy.

READ BEFORE POSTING:
- You may only vote for three racers
- You may vote for yourself
- Feel free to post why you voted for who you did
- Do not beg to be added in (constant private messages, spam etc..)
- Posting your contributions and other reasons you should be added in is fine and will not come off as desperate just a heads up to myself
- Feel free to post any other suggestions and or comments

The Hall of Fame is in no way, shape or form implying that certain racers are better than others. It is simply a thread showing respect to racers who have earned it. The Hall of Fame is never "complete" so do not feel like you are left out if you believe you should be in it. If you are truly worthy of entering the Hall of Fame it will show and you will be placed in it at some point. Begging or use of any desperate measures to attempt to gain entry into the Hall of Fame will only decrease your chances of being added into the list. No one (myself included) is all knowing and if you feel that you should be in the list, feel free to vote for yourself and state why you should be in it without sounding desperate. I do not know of every racers past contributions and other important things therefore that may be the reason why you have not yet been added into the Hall of Fame

To be completely honest i think the hall of fame should be dedicated to the fastest and the ones who defined racing. Like animalzz, feix, etc... ppl most of you never met but made racing what it is today, to those of you nominating yourself, let people decide don't be so presumptious :/

ALSO

A hall of fame should be created to remember these members, then racer whom we have forgotten or don't know.

Not something to boost your status as a racer or your ego.

Real racers know you by skill, not by titles.

If we took all the fastest and threw them in there the list would go on for days and would never gain any respect if its seen as something so easy to get into. I know you know plenty of oldies that you see as worthy based on contributions or skill whichever but I could name another few dozen from 3rd and 4th gens and it would just become to long a list. Also we both know "TheFastestRacerEver" wasn't around during Kazafz's (probably spelled that wrong) time so it would help to give some details and specifics on this guy. Ive heard a lot about him but some details would help.

I don't think we can really say who defined racing either. Although the people you named were definetly skilled, big names and helped build 1st and 2nd gen racing. Most people dont know that literally the only oldie/pro left from that group of deinfing racer at the beginning of the 3rd gen (only active and guild racing oldy left) was raki. So if I go by defining then technically this whole community right now is only here because Raki stayed active in guild racing but we all know the credit is not all his. there to many defining racers to choose pick out certain ones and call them more defining. Just by those people you named being defining it makes their students defining since they (example raki) are what built the current community and then went to bring back the original oldies. And that can be said for every gen, I think every active guild racer of each gen becomes a defining racer once that gen starts taking charge of the community.

BTW - as selfish as it may make some people feel, feel free to vote for yourself. TheFastestRacerEver does not know everything about everyone so take it as a chance to inform us of what you have done. Regardless of whether you get put on the list or not it is good to know each racers past. This is especially directed towards those big name racers, skilled racers, maybe older racers so that people can realize what you've done, why you should be on it and anything else we may not know...

I posted a bit more in my original post which addresses these issues.

Also to respond to your post.

I understand that current racers help define racing standards and keep it moving, BUT that's what all racers do.

And I named those certain racers not just because they were the fastest.

But they created the guild standards that I'm sure you wouldn't have if not for them.

The racing school was helped founded by these racers.

A lot of these technique were first tested or created by these racers or confirmed.

So on and so forth, and like I said before a hall of fame should be dedicated to racers who we should not forget.

You remember Ken, and your also a very fast racer.

But people helped you on that journey, helped you define this point.

Like Feix took ken under his wing and taught him.

Exotics helped form Ken which in turn helped form this guild.

Who formed Exotics, who created the cow pass, so on and so on and so on.

The achievements of today are to remembered and catalogued.

But that should be under a different list of categorization.

The biggest thing that bugs me about this is that, a lot of racers today take the trials and effort old racing had to go through to get it to what it is today.

And the newer generations will define what it will be later on.

I agree that there are many racers left out that should be remembered but that should be a separate list or thread. The only reason i haven't made it yet is because to make a list of all the great racers to remember we'd need to gather active racers from every gen that have a good enough memory to remember all those names. This Hall was meant for contributions specifically (not that those names didnt contribute, I just wasnt there to know so I go by what is told of their contributions). There is still enough racers to make a separate list of either racers to be remembered or fastest or who knows what...

I can see this quickly turning south.

This is a place for nominating whoever you feel should be up there... not one to voice your opinion as to why others shouldn't.

Please be respectful to other people's position, and conscious of the nominated person's accomplishments/contributions to the community.

I'm sure that no matter how many people vote for someone, the final decision will be made by the robot and should remain unbiased.

Anyway, back to the nominations. If we're going way old school I have three names I'd like to throw up.

Shimetsuko ( Hakikomi as she/he was known back then ) - For the documenting and naming of the "overdrive" technique of boost extension.
I don't personally know if she stumbled upon it on her own, but I do know without her journal I wouldn't have found it out when I did.

Kazafz - I'll 3rd his nomination, considering he taught me a lot while we were in T.E.A.R.S. by kicking my a** in races. He was definitely unrivaled in that guild, and possibly all of Gaia at that time.
If not for him beating me consistently, I probably wouldn't have developed some of the tricks I have to make comeback victories.

Alister Lostley - Speaking of T.E.A.R.S., I'd like to show my respect to the only racing team I've joined during my time here on Gaia, by nominating it's original captain Alister Lostley.
Even though T.E.A.R.S. died as a guild, it's members went on to leave their impact on the racing community and I think that's more than he could have ever imagined.
