If you haven't already done so, say thank you to a veteran. The freedom you enjoy was bought with the blood of our wonderful soldiers.
Today was picked because it was the end of the First World War, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month the treaty was signed Extra points to the first person who can name that treaty. smile

....It wasn't the Treaty of Versailles, was it? crying I'm such a horrible history major. Well, my focus is on Neolithic and Early Modern Europe, but still...

Your right, I'd tip you, if I knew how to do it, (actually now might be a good time to learn.) Nice to know a young person knows a little history.

WOO HOO! I was right! ....its the only treaty I really know of from WWI, but I do know there were others too. Several members of my family were military men, and I remain very proud of them.

As you should be. Last night I read an article in a local paper written by a local Montana boy who is an exchange student in Germany. His German family took him on a tour of Flanders fields which is a territory that covers parts of Belgium, France and the Netherlands. It has seen a lot of war in Europe. He visited a cemetery where 8,301 American service men are buried. He also visited The German Siegfried line and saw old abandoned dragon's teeth and bunkers from WW2. The last thing he visited in the article was the Area where they fought "The Battle of the Bulge". Incidentally both of his Grandfathers fought in that battle but never met as far as he knows.
