You see a shimmering haze in front of you. It looks like a heat distortion, except that it touches the ground and is the height and width of a large man. Easily big enough for a person to walk through.
Suddenly a shadowed figure appears in the image where nothing was before. It looks vaguely.....fox-like? Before you can decide, the shape shimmers and changes. Out of the haze steps...a human?
Well, this is the mental realm, where things can change their shape and nature on a whim. Animals turning into humans is hardly such a stretch in the magical world of the mind.

From out of the shimmering haze steps a man. At first glance he doesn't seem like much. Average height, kinda slim. Shoulder-length hair with a young-looking face. Looks like the kind of person you'd think of as bully-bait. As he approaches you take a closer look.
His height might be average, but as he moves you see the lean and powerful muscles shifting under the skin, conveying a sense of great strength even if they don't stand out like a body-builder. His shoulder length hair is the bright green of new grass, unruly and with a hint of wavyness to it that makes him look wild. Your eyes move back to his face, and you note that his eyes are a brilliant amethyst. In those eyes looking back at you seem old, and when you move to examine his face you see subtle lines creasing it that take away the youth you first saw.
You tear your gaze away from his face and for the first time get a look at what he'd wearing. It's all in the same bright green as his hair, and looks to be made of cotton and leather. His top looks something like a vest or a shirt with no sleeves, and clings to his body in such a way that you wonder at how you thought he was slim bully-bait in the first place. The pants don't cling as much as the top and seem quite plain, their only adornment being a stylizied white S on the left hip. Combined with the belt and pouches hanging from his waist, he looks like some weird Robin Hood or some other kind of forest-dwelling outlaw. His boots are so plain there isn't much to note about them other than the color, the same bright green as everything else he's wearing.
He stops, and suddenly you notice he's just three feet in front of you. You look into those old eyes and note the small smile playing on his face. "Hello," he says, voice a bit deeper than you were expecting, "my name is Leo."

From out of the shimmering haze steps a man. His build is slender and doesn't immediately scream of muscles, but as he starts moving towards you you see the power in his shoulder muscles and the confident ease with which he moves across unfamiliar ground.
The impish mischief twinkling in his eyes (brillant sky blue set with long lashes) and playing about the slight upward quirking of his lips only confirms this is not someone to be messed with. His hair is a bit shaggy, tucked behind his ears and brushing against his shoulders, gentle lilac in color. It goes well with his pale complexion.
His clothing is loose and comfortable-looking. A white, sleeveless shirt patterned with light purple swirls, a scarf the same purple as the swirls wrapped loosely around his neck, dark purple sleeves that are cinched against the skin a few inches above his elbow and flow loosely down just an inch past his wrists. His pants, white, are of flowing material that darkens to a light purple matching his shirt and scarf as it reaches his ankles, with tiny white swirls worked into the purple material. His feet were encased in boots made of soft deerskin, bleached white to match the rest of his outfit.
As he gets closer you take note of his height, perhaps 5' 9". When he stops and speaks his voice is a pleasant tenor. "Yo. I'm Dakari."
