I've recently started messing with open G tuning (low to high: DGDGBD) and came to the realization that there is a completely different world outside of our standard tuning. I actually found it to be quite a liberating experience. Does anybody else in the main forum mess with alternate tunings? What's your take on alternate tunings? Do you have a personal favorite? Have you wrote any pieces?

I wish i could, however, doesn't it mess up the neck tension, action, etc.? I'm too much of a p***y to screw up my guitar....

It will mess with the tension but that's why most guitars have trust rods. Action is definitely affected but you can move up to a higher string gauge to make up for it. I suggest trying it either way, it's not going to kill your guitar.

My guitar has a floyd rose...which is another problem. I don't have the patience to deal with balancing it
