USER
Warrior Name: Elias Kingsland (Eli)
Age: 21
Magic Affinity: Remote viewing
Appearance: Elias is somewhat shorter than average among young men his age with blue eyes; he's athletic in build rather than stocky, and this combined with his height gives him a less than intimidating appearance upon first glance. After further inspection however, Elias is clearly a warrior: muscular, tanned from years out in the sun, with a few faint white scars cutting through his tan to attest to drills gone awry. He carries himself with confidence, appearing ready to act even when he's relaxed.
His clothes are what one would expect of a warrior; clean but practical, with stiffer fabrics. [Subject to change based on Mistwick uniforms]. Although he takes decent care of his clothes, Elias sometimes forgets to do the same for himself. It's not unusual to see him sporting 5 o'clock shadow because he woke up too late to shave. Although he usually keeps his dark brown hair short and out of the way, there have been times where his hair been long enough to pull into a short and high ponytail because he just couldn't be bothered with cutting it for awhile.
Personality: Where his Guardian is rigid and quiet, Elias is friendly and, at times, loud. He genuinely likes people, and prefers the company of others over solitude. A bored and alone Elias is a bad thing; after reorganizing his whole room and Aeron's space (into something that's totally nonfunctional just for fun) too and sharpening any knives that need it, he'll resort to pacing until he has something to do. Fortunately, being a warrior is a useful way to divert his excessive energy, and fortunately for Aeron this usually means he's too tired to try and stack all of his things on his bed. When he's not making Aeron's life tiresome, Elias can be found talking his Guardian into small stakes gambling with him after he reaches stage two, or playing card and dice games with friends. Surprisingly, he's even been known to read when he's desperately bored.
Despite being friendly and energetic though, Elias can be as scheming as his Guardian. Less subtle and skulking than Aeron, Elias enjoys playing dumb and coming off as an idiot so no one will suspect him of anything. Usually he hasn't even done anything that would warrant suspicion anyways, but hey, you never know when being seen as unintelligent will come in handy. While he might not be a genius, he actually is relatively intelligent, able to succeed in lessons without having to dedicate all his time. Strategy planning might be better left to somebody else, but Elias is able to handle himself. He would be more successful, however, if he had his Guardian's rigid dedication to honing his concentration. He can use his affinity when he needs to and has control over it, but Elias' talents are cut by his tendency to get frustrated and distracted when practicing. Like most warriors, Elias is better at fighting than using magic, and after Aeron unlocks his affinity Elias will likely be letting Aeron deal with most of the remote viewing when they're together.
Instead of working on his concentration is his spare time, Elias does what most young men do: he drinks, and he flirts. Elias never misses an opportunity to practice his flirting, although it's more for harmless fun than anything. Elias isn't the type to truly objectify women and sees them as equal; in fact, if a woman were to fall for his game and become attached to him, Elias probably would be dumbfounded and clueless about what to do with her. Fighting makes much more sense to him than romance, and he'd prefer wrestling with his friends to wrestling a clingy woman away from him.
Despite their obviously contrasting personalities, it will be readily apparent once Aeron reaches stage two that Elias' Guardian is his best friend. Although Aeron drives him crazy, Elias relies on the mountain lion, and trusts him with his life. Threats against Aeron are threats against Elias, and he'll always jump to Aeron's defense.
History: Elias comes from an entirely typical family, with both his parents and two younger siblings. His father is a baker, and owns a small bakery on the lower level of the marketplace while his wife watches over her three children in their small but tidy home. Although the family was by no means rich, they lived comfortably within their means, with the children helping do what was needed. From a young age Elias took his role as the oldest sibling seriously, teaching his brother, protecting his sister, and helping his father in the marketplace once he was deemed old enough.
His childhood was relatively uneventful. Elias is very close to his family, and it was assumed that as the oldest he would one day inherit his father's business. He spent much of his time around his father, even at home, learning all the ins and outs of owning a bakery. This special attention garnered some jealousy from his younger brother, who would be expected to move away and start his own life when he was an adult, but Elias quickly put an end to that attitude with a few well-won fistfights and yelling matches.
Elias hit puberty around 15, and although his powers began to develop around then, at first they had no obvious manifestation. His parents began to slowly notice that he knew things he shouldn't. For example, Elias knew that his younger brother had been fighting with some local boys and told his parents so, even though he had been home the entire time and hadn't seen his brother. When asked how he knew, Elias had no definitive answer; he just knew. Things like this kept happening, and eventually it became clear the teenager was a User. He was promptly enrolled in the Academy at 16, and while he was not exactly the most dedicated of the students, Elias was taught control over his abilities.
Elias graduated the Academy at 18 with no Guardian, but this hasn't troubled him much yet; he sees it as a chance to gain more needed real life experience. He reluctantly left his close-knit family shortly after graduation and now works as an intern, gaining his experience and waiting until the day when he meets his Guardian.

GUARDIAN Name: Aeron (A Celtic god of war)
Magic Affinity: Ecological empathy
Essence/Animal: Sunstone/Mountain Lion
Appearance: I'd pretty much rather leave this open to interpretation, so I'll just give a couple small details: -Sunstone comes in a lot of different colors, but I'd like him to just have the red type, and if you want to incorporate these too for some extra color, the orange as well. The orange is totally optional and artist's choice -Style-wise Aeron's pretty rigid and formal, with shortish hair and structured clothes. But I also love how much the cougar is incorporated into Native American cultures, so if you want to incorporate beading and feathers (maybe in his hair?) and/or brighter colors into him in his later stages feel free to. -I don't know if this counts a detail or not, but I'd like for him to reflect his animal by being athletic and svelte in build. He'd probably be pretty tall since mountain lions are big and obviously powerful, but he's not all muscle and brawn and nothing else. xD He's built to stalk and run.
Personality: Aeron is quiet in a crowd; although mostly socially capable, he prefers to watch and wait until he deems the moment acceptable to interact. Although he's not antisocial, he prefers to leave the talking to Elias; Aeron prefers to be the one that listens rather than the one who talks. He's a clever tactician, often watching or studying his target for some time if possible to gain all possible weaknesses, which he then turns on his victims. When bored, Aeron's favorite game is to toy with his User this way, twisting his words and thoughts until the poor young man becomes so confused he doesn't know up from down. Of course, this is a good-natured game, and is often met with Elias chucking a boot none too politely at the machine's head. He's been known to do this to total strangers on occasion, but this is rare and usually only done when he's an unfortunate mix of being bored and being in a poor mood. It's more fun for him to take on the challenge of doing it and seeing how long it takes Elias to notice.
Aeron is a relatively just and calm person, and he prefers to treat people fairly. Whenever he witnesses acts of aggression on innocent parties (children, the elderly, the ill, etc.) he quickly ends that situation, using force if necessary. Despite his usually equal outlook on all people, Aeron has no qualms about killing in battle. While he takes no pleasure in it, he sees it as his duty to protect his people--most specifically, his User. Someone trying to convince Aeron that his way of life is 'wrong' or 'evil' would be met with immediate dismissal. .
Although he treats people relatively equally, this does not mean he always thinks this way. Aeron is often harshly critical in his head of other warriors and high ranking members of society, and holds these people to high standards. Those who fail are not met with outward contempt, but with passive aggression, which he has not yet realized is hypocritical of him when he pushes for just treatment of everyone. Aeron has been known to 'forget' to respond to the letters of people he does not respect....multiple times. By the same token, Aeron often finds himself exasperated with his User, whose frequent lapses in concentration and refusal to train goes against Aeron's basic nature. Because he knows good and well that passive aggressiveness won't get him anywhere with Elias, who he sees as helplessly dense sometimes, Aeron is far more blunt about his frustrations to Elias. The young User, rather than being ignored or being treated to biting sarcasm, is physically reprimanded for his idiotic moments; Aeron finds great satisfaction is slapping Elias upside the head and telling him that perhaps it will jar his brain back into a useful state. So far it has yet to jar Elias' brain to Aeron's satisfaction, but the mountain lion supposes he can forgive his companion; he can't help being hopeless, after all. In fact, Aeron is rather fond of the young man, and would do anything necessary to defend him. Threatening Elias immediately triggers Aeron's usually well-repressed anger, and unless physically held back he'll go for the poor soul who threatened Elias.
By nature of having high standards, Aeron thinks highly of himself. Though he isn't what one would call a braggart, the machine's normally neutral expression can take on a faint smug tinge when he feels he's proved his superiority over his lessers. Someone who insults Aeron and attempts to make him feel inferior will not be forgotten: in fact, he'll probably subtly make himself a nuisance by proving himself better in small tasks until they get the point. If he were not so even-tempered, or at least able to stifle his emotions, it's likely those who insulted him would never be found in one piece again.
Regrettably in Aeron's eyes, he cannot always force down his emotions in favor of objectivity. Threats against Elias are his easiest trigger, and immediately these make him angry. Worse than threats though are attacks on the few people he cares about; seeing Elias or a close friend in actual danger stirs up a very foreign and very uncomfortable feeling in Aeron: panic. It's only through his intense mental training that he's able to make himself focus in the moment and get someone out of that situation. As soon as the danger is gone though, Aeron's focus abandons him and he is left feeling shaky, disoriented, and still panic-stricken. It would be especially bad if he had almost lost Elias; likely the young User would find himself being watched like a hawk almost every second of his life for days until Aeron was satisified that his User was really alright. The only emotion Aeron has never truly felt himself is joy; he is often content, much like a cat sunning himself, but he either doesn't have the emotional capacity or has never encountered a situation that could bring him to a higher state that contentedness.
Aeron is also solitary in nature. He keeps a handful of close friends, but could name those most important to him easily on one hand. Consequently, he spends a majority of his free time alone or only with his User, and this time is dedicated to both mental and physical training; he stresses not only being skilled in weaponry, but in focus and concentration, and he has been known to meditate by clearing his head of all thoughts while doing mundane tasks. He values a clear head, and is not one to get lost in tomes full of details. Rather than read when he's not training, Aeron can usually be found lounging about with fellow Guardians he's deemed worthy of friendship having long discussions about heavy topics such as killing or being talked into gambling. Although he gives Elias grief over it, inwardly Elias does find some pleasure in the feeling of the risk of gambling, despite always playing for small change or bragging rights.
Unfortunately for Aeron, his dedication to clear thinking, independence and solitude has left him without the appropriate gentleness to deal with most outside the warrior class. He speaks direct and to the point, with little added fluff to fill up the conversation; this can be interpreted by people who don't know him as rude, terse and impatient, although it is meant to be perfectly polite. Because of this, his ability to maneuver through social circles is often limited to people who can understand his brusque nature, or to those who are simply too intimidated by it to tell him no. It's not uncommon for Elias to have to apologize for Aeron's sharp tongue.

The Mountain Lion From Wikipedia: The cougar (Puma concolor), also known as puma, mountain lion, mountain cat, catamount or panther, depending on the region, is a mammal native to the Americas. This large, solitary cat has the greatest range of any large wild terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere, extending from Yukon in Canada to the southern Andes of South America.
Cougars are slender and agile members of the cat family. They are the fourth largest cats and adults stand about 24 to 35 tall at the shoulders. Adult males are around 7.9 ft long nose to tail. Males typically weigh 115 to 220 pounds, averaging 137 lb. Cougars have large paws and proportionally the largest hind legs in the cat family. This physique allows it great leaping and short-sprint ability. An exceptional vertical leap of 18 ft is reported for the cougar. Horizontal jumping capability from standing position is suggested anywhere from 20 to 40 ft. The cougar can run as fast as 35 to 45 mi/h), but is best adapted for short, powerful sprints rather than long chases.
It is secretive and crepuscular, being most active around dawn and dusk. Estimates of territory sizes vary greatly. Canadian Geographic reports large male territories of 58 to 386 sq mi with female ranges half the size. Other research suggests a much smaller lower limit but an even greater upper limit of 500 sq mi for males. When males encounter each other, they hiss, spit, and may engage in violent conflict if neither backs down.
Compared to "big cats", cougars are often silent with minimal communication through vocalizations outside of the mother-offspring relationship. Cougars sometimes voice low-pitched hisses, growls, and purrs, as well as chirps and whistles, many of which are comparable to those of domestic cats. They are well known for their screams, as referenced in some of their common names, although these screams are often misinterpreted to be the calls of other animals.
The grace and power of the cougar have been widely admired in the cultures of the indigenous peoples of the Americas. The Inca city of Cusco is reported to have been designed in the shape of a cougar, and the animal also gave its name to both Inca regions and people. The Moche people represented the puma often in their ceramics. The sky and thunder god of the Inca, Viracocha, has been associated with the animal.
In North America, mythological descriptions of the cougar have appeared in the stories of the Hocąk language ("Ho-Chunk" or "Winnebago") of Wisconsin and Illinois and the Cheyenne, amongst others. To the Apache and Walapai of Arizona, the wail of the cougar was a harbinger of death.
Taken from tribes.net (on the mountain lion as a spirit guide): Cougar/Mountain Lion/Puma's Wisdom Includes:
* Using leadership power wisely and without ego * Balancing power, intention, strength * Gaining self-confidence * Freedom from guilt * Cunning
For the Zunis of Turtle Island (Southwest United States), Cougar was the Master Hunter, known for its high intelligence, its knowledge of other animal and life forms, its physical prowess, its strength of will, and its intuitive ability.

Affinities Remote viewing (Elias): The ability to describe objects or events happening at great distances from the person. Elias' abilities are limited in scope by his lack of mental discipline; if there is a hill in the way or the object is out of sight by a mile or so, he could describe what's happening on the other side, but the other side of the archipelago would be too much for him. While traditional remote viewing lets one describe not only what they're seeing, but the other senses (smell, hearing, touch, etc.) they get from the scene, Elias can only describe what he sees; he can see what is happening in important meetings but cannot eavesdrop on them. He also has to view using someone else's point of view. If he wants to look into a room and no one is in it, then he's out of luck. His power also works best with people whose minds he's used before to view--friends, Aeron, etc. When he's faced with a stranger's mind, details are blurry and he has to put more energy into clarifying the image. Each time he taps into a person's POV, his ability to see through them becomes clearer.
As a warrior, this ability is useful as it can help him detect if anyone waits for him at a distance. Attempting to use remote viewing for too long a period of time can cause headaches first, followed by temporary partial blindness (black spots in his vision, which grow larger the more he exhausts himself) and an inability to distinguish where he is. These effects last longer in relation to his amount of overexertion. Aeron will suffer the same side effects when he eventually unlocks this affinity.
Ecological Empathy (Aeron): Ability to sense what's going on in the environment around him. This complements Elias' remote viewing by cluing Aeron early into the fact that something seen as dangerous and unsettling might be in the environment. This could be a good warning sign that Elias should attempt to find someone to remote view through. If Elias can find nobody, Aeron uses more energy to try and focus on the possible problem and see if he can tell from the environment what it might be.
Aeron's ability is only effective in natural habitats, and works best in environments he's familiar with or else he might confuse an animal hunting for something actually unsettling and wrong. It can be hard to sift through what he detects to notice potential danger in time occasionally since he's flooded with so much information to sort through, and it gives him awful migraines if he can't properly manage all the incoming information. If he overexerts himself to pinpoint a specific problem, he becomes dizzy and disoriented.
