But I like your reasoning. 3nodding I think it's because with socks it's perfectly obvious if you got it right or not...the only pair of socks I ever attempted were such a failure that I've not tried again ...one would have fit a barbie as a dress, and the other a giant as a hat sweatdrop

The socks I knit after the ones you see fit me pretty much perfectly and I am utterly happy with them.
