  A crisp wind encircled Penny as she flew higher to gain ground on her daughters. It was important for her to be able to watch over them for the duration of the trip, especially when and if they started to goof off. Of course, chances were high that she would join in, but that wasn’t the point. She smiled goofily as Skylar performed a perfect Aerial Ace towards the trees, then pulled up at just the right time. For such a young girl, she really was a skilled flyer! “That was awesome, honey!” She called out, catching up with her daughter. “Just don’t do it around your father. He might get mad.” She nodded, looking grave in her innocence.
Skylar just laughed. “You know you’re adorable, don’t you? Fly lower, mom. There’s a strong wind coming.” She waited patiently for her mother to duck down before following after her. “I wonder where Luna and Cassidy got off to?”
“I don- Oooh! Maybe they found your father.” Penny curled her talons excitedly. “It’s already so much warmer than it was this morning, so we have to be getting close.”
Skylar sighed and shook her head. “Doubt it. We’re the ones that told him where to meet us, remember? He has to travel the same distance we do, mom.” At Penny’s frown, she hurriedly added, “B-but I’m sure he’s close. Look! There’s the shore now.”
And there it was. Some of the flock members had talked about it before, and now that she was setting her eyes on it for the first time, Skylar knew they’d made the right choice in coming. It was a large cliff overlooking the ocean, with large ledges built onto the side that lead to little caves. She knew from gossip that the interior was much roomier and warmer than it appeared, which thrilled her. Instead of looking at mountains day in and day out, she could spend the winter looking at the ocean!

 Cassidy was flying as high as she could get, wanting to see the beach as early as possible. How she loved the beach! Sand, water, sun.. Gorgeous! And this time it would be with the entire family! She was even singing a little song about it, making up the tune and words in time with the beat of her wings as she flew. The flight was long though, and her mind began to drift..
Before she knew it, she found herself at a beach. How exciting!! But.. weren't there supposed to be cliffs here? This area was flat and... oops. Golden eyes wide, she took a moment to redirect herself before shooting off along the coast, wings beating hard. Mom and dad would be mad if she got herself lost again and arrived too late! Still.. the weather was perfect, and her hard flying became rather relaxed, and the bee-line along the coast became riddled with curves and lazy, carefree loops.

  Was he lost again? Sky frowned as he circled around in the sky. Wasn’t this the area that he had been told about? Sighing the harpy shook his head. If it was then where were the cliffs and the ocean? He chuckled. “I don’t think they wanted me to visit them in the forest.” So how had he gotten so turned around? Maybe this was why he needed Yakira to steer him straight most of the time. Why had she let him go by himself? Sky sighed as he looked around one last time and grabbed at an air current to help carry him back towards the cliffs. Wasn’t the ocean this way?
Squinting into the distance Luna finally caught sight of that familiar flash of brilliant blue, “Papa!” Calling out the teen folded her wings and moved like a bolt of lightning towards the male. “Wait up! You’re going the wrong way!”
Oh? Turning Sky paused and was greeted by a flurry of feathers which knocked him down towards the ground, “Luna! Umph!” Flapping his wings the male harpy managed to catch his balance and hold onto his daughter at the same time, “How long have you been back there?”
“Not that long.” She laughed, her eyes sparkling with humor. “Else I would have steered you in the right direction a long time ago! Though it is funny to watch you circle around like some lost chick.”
“Oh shush.” Flushing Sky batted at his daughter before becoming serious again, “Where do we go from here then Luna?”
“Oh that’s easy! This way~” Chirping out happily the female swooped away from her father and towards the beach area where she knew the rest of the family would be waiting for them.

To say that Penny was disenheartened to have arrived before the rest of her family would have been an understatement. She fluttered anxiously around the cliff, flitting her feathers this way and that just to catch a glimpse. "Skylar! Where did they go? Your sisters should have been here." She pouted. The older female landed on a larger edge, her long hair whipping around her delicate face.
From Skylar's perspective it was the cutest thing in the world, and she immediately felt guilty for not being able to bring a smile to that loving face. "Patience, mother," she chided while landing next to her. "They're close, anyway."
"But how do you knnnooowwww?" Penny hopped behind Skylar as the teen started into the cavern.
The opening was every bit as small as she had been told, and it would be a wonder if the lot of them could make it through without loosing some feathers. "I just know," she grinned. Skylar pressed her father's feather against her chest with a melodramatic sigh. "Besides, I saw them. Cassidy, Luna, and father, that is. And I - ow!"
Skylar had stopped so quickly to admire the larger cavern that Penny had crashed right into her, sending both harpies to the musky floor.

There were too many temptations around to distract the flighty female. Look! Seagulls! Look! Fish! Look! Driftwood! She had to stop at each thing that caught her attention. It wasn't until she was fishing when she remembered where she'd been going. Oh no!
Biting her lip in embarrassment, she grabbed two fish, one in each clawed foot, and took to the sky again. Maybe if she brought food she could make up for being late?
Ah! Finally! Hoping that these were the right cliffs, she swooped down and flew along. The cave was around here, right? "Moooooom!" She called, fluttering along the rocky face as she searched. This had to be the place! "Daaaaaad!"
