Manga-Ka Asu
This is one of my favorite films. It was still funny, it had a great story, and it pissed off the elitist fanbase who followed the movies for the toilet humor and nothing else.

And I was lucky enough to catch it in a theater....although like 8 people left in the middle of it gonk

I hope Smith decides to do more movies like this in the future, he does a really good job on them. 3nodding
heart heart

I love you.

i was really weirded out by Liv Tyler in that role. i refuse to believe that he originally intended to cast her for the part--it seems very much Joey Lauren Adams-ish, and she's been in the Smith's films before.

it was a sweet movie, but i thought the story was kind of weak. i thought the Sweeney Todd thing was just a passing gag, not...the whole point of the movie. i'd like to see the Smithster come back to this story again and rework it, because i think it had a lot of potential that he couldn't quite get a handle on.

I didn't get a chance to see Jersey Girl yet. My roomie told me that it's his worst film, and it comes off too "chick flicky". I intend on renting it to make the choice myself. Maybe I should have waited till after that to post on this thread. xp

This was more serious than a lot of Smith's past films. So if you go to his movies for his Jay and Bob comedy style and nothing else, you probably won;t enjoy this film very much.

But this was an excellently done film, and If you enjoy Smith's films because of reasons other than Jay and Silent Bob, you will enjoy this one as well.

I liked Jersey Girl. I didn't love it, it's almost my least favorite of his work. (My least favorite being Chasing Amy because it was so true to a situation I went through it's painful for me to watch.)

The dialogue great and some of the moments in that film are just incredibly honest. The plot was so-so.

I don't think not having Jay and Silent Bob in it would have improved the film, if anything it would have made them worse because they do not fit into the story Jersey Girl tells at all.

Also, yes, Jersey Girl is "chick-flick"ish, BUT each of Kevin Smith's film could fall under a different category; Clerks is an independent film, Mallrats a teen movie, Chasing Amy a romantic comedy, Dogma a satire, Jay and Silent Bob a buddy/gross-out humor movie. And you know what? It's damn good compared to the other chick flick junk out there. Think about it.

Cool, I can't wait to rent in now! I want to see a serious Kevin Smith film for a change.

See it was slightly chick flicky but it had tang. I really enjoyed it (you know being a chick) and it wasn't his usual stick which makes it great in its own respect. No reason to continue to beat the dead horse (cliche I am) with the same idea.

I really must go out and buy it. I had rented it.

I liked it. But didn't love it. Same goes for Chasing Amy, actually, and that DID have Jay and Silent Bob in it XD And Jason Lee who I adore. Jersey girl wasn't horrible, though. It was very sweet and probably one of the very few movies that has Jennifer Lopez that I'd watch. ( Although damn Ben and Jen for Gigli. XD Bet you if Gigli debuted weeks after Jersey Girl, it would have been better. Even Smith and Mosier suspected this. ) Two things I had noticed that, in one way or the other irked me...

1 ) WHOLE lot of fading. XD Not saying it's bad, but, just made me go "wtf is with the fading? Is that the stereotype of a chick flick or something?"

2 ) Those whole bathroom scenes, you know, Ollie(sp?) telling Gertie to flush the toilet and all that. ....but she never washed her hands gonk I don't know, I just found that somewhat...ew.

But meh, that's me. X3

And OMFG I loved those bonus features. Although I've noticed, Ben... Ben really does talk non-stop, doesn't he? XD! And that Leno videos, of Smith going to different places... REMEMBER THE ALIGATOR WRESTLING AND CHICKEN ONES?! Omfg... Those two.... Made me utter the words: HAHAHA! Oh, Kevin Smith! You slay me!

Then after a moment, I'd ask myself, "....Did.... Did I just say... 'slay me'?"
