⁖ ⁖ ⁖ ∴ History ∴ _ _ _ Iria is a cosplay from Iria: Zeiram the Animation, a six-episode series of Japanese OVAs (original video animations). She comes from a world, Myce, with a mish-mash of cyberpunk and steampunk technologies and a traditional Japanese flair._ _ _ Episode synopses were written by me, after watching both Japanese Subtitled and English Dubbed versions. Please do not use without permission!
Spoilers begin here.
Episode 1: Pitch Black_ _ _ Iria worked as an apprentice hunter with her elder brother Glen for Ghomvak Security & Investigations on planet Myce. Recognizing her strengths as a hunter, he allowed her to take on difficult and dangerous jobs despite his business partner, Bob's disapproval (and apparent regulation age restrictions). Glen's reasoning was that she would be old enough to become a full-fledged hunter in another year and he was preparing her for the future._ _ _ Bob and Glen were contracted by the powerful Tedan Tippedai Corporation to intercept a cargo ship, the Karma, that had been hijacked, evacuate the crew, and recover the shipment on board. A much more complicated situation was revealed when they were attacked by a different faction from Tedan Tippedai in-transit. Meanwhile, though Bob forbade Iria to come, she ran interference with the help of a rival hunter named Fujikuro. In the end she helped them escape and Fujikuro was left behind. (He's always getting the shaft, poor guy.)_ _ _ In space, the ship and its crew were already in pieces when the hunters arrived. Investigation revealed an empty cargo hold, but they soon discovered that the cargo was an infamous bloodthirsty alien monster called Zeiram. Zeiram was the one that had killed the majority of the people on board._ _ _In the fighting that ensued, the surviving crew and passengers, including the vice president of Tedan Tippedai, Puttubayh, were escorted safely to life pods by Bob. Iria and Glen fought Zeiram, communicating with one another through a choker pendant that she had given him as a gift before this assignment. During the battle, Glen and Bob were seriously injured, and Zeiram should have been destroyed at least three times. It was decided that the only way to truly destroy Zeiram would be to "nuke the ship." Glen ran off to delay Zeiram and intended to take the last life pod to safety. But from Iria's point of view as her ship was caught in the Karma's blast wave, he could not have made it in time. Bob's status (alive or dead) was unknown, as he went with the passengers in the life pods; Iria hit her head and was knocked unconscious.
Episode 2: Rampage_ _ _ Three days after the ship exploded, Iria came to with a nasty bump on her head, her damaged ship pulled into the gravity well of a resort planet called Taowajan. She and several other "shooting stars" fell to the planet below. Low on fuel, she was forced to enter some slums called the Twilight Zone to try to get her bearings and find a local administration building where she could book transit off-planet.
_ _ _ Meanwhile a group of street kids pinned her, an off-worlder - and a greenhorn hunter, for an easy target. They proceeded to make a fool of her before she captured one named Kei, and whom she blackmailed into escorting her to to the local administration building.
_ _ _ While attempting to reason with the official there, from the rubble of another "shooting star" crawled the morbidly injured but unmistakable form off Zeiram. Its injuries were great enough that it could be harmed by simple thrown stones while in the past it had seemed invulnerable to most forms of attack. Even so, the inhuman strength and advanced weaponry left a great wake of damage and corpses.
_ _ _ Returning to the slums, Iria, with the help of Kei and friends, waged a long battle with the monster. Saying their good-by's, Kei offered a necklace to Iria, one that she had given to Glen before their previous mission. Kei said that Zeiram dropped it before it was defeated. In exchange, Kei stole one of her hair beads.
