So let the story begin, as it should. With the time and place - and reason behind tension.
First, let us introduce our major players - for.. they are our story. I'll retell events as best I can because, unfortunately, my best is all I have. It was about three years ago. Months had past since Edge (myself) had opened up a tavern of his own in a rather large place some of the other admins and I called "VC'. (Its true name, was Vampire City. And its where most of the role-players on that site had gotten their beginning. After Drama there, many tried to copy it.. and failed. However, it was a home and we appreciated it as such. But I digress.)
It had taken me a while, but I already gained a reputation. A friend of the so called Royal Family which so carefully watched the "ins and outs" of my humbled tavern. I had been taken under the wing of the captain of the City Guard. His name escapes me... but I owe much more to that elf (yes.. he was like a sheep among wolves) than any vampire in that city. Because he showed me that life.. wasn't about being holed up in that simple bar.
After finishing my apprenticeship, and becoming Vice Captain of the guard - I was handed the task of training the new kids. One day, the prince had the audacity to invade my work space.. to tell me how to do my job. Son of the king or not, my pride would not have it. He gave the calm jester that I was not worth the time of the "Prince of Darkness". But.. I proved otherwise-

It was unexpected - the clash was quick, swift. As they stood beside one another, a glare turned to an action of scorn, and each took it upon themselves to relinquish their blades from their slumber. Cold steel quickly became heated, as the friction and vibrations became embodiments of their tensions. The students watched, in disbelief - their minds had not even caught up with the present. The prince, wasn't angry at all surprisingly. In fact, it almost seemed like he was expecting Edge to make a move. Almost like he was just waiting for permission to make a move himself.

Now, lets step back. Normally, in any other dimension - an attack against royalty is a crime of the highest degree. same goes for the one we are currently subjected to believe we are in. But what made this so much.. different.. is that this battle was consensual. There wasn't a care for who they were; Edge was considered and elite, yes, but no where near being as valued as Prince Alucard. But for the moment, however, that did not matter at all. A rivalry had begun in an instant, upon eye contact. Something like this is very powerful indeed.
There were no exchanging of words at that instant - the talking became very much one sided dialogue. The Prince reassured him - with a smile - that the battle would be soon. A settlement. Something to prove which is the better of the two. And as he pushed Edge to away, he himself fell back into darkness and disappeared.
