[[More or less fleshing out J.B.'s personality, takes place after the battle with Imnir]]

Handshakes were exchanged after the battle had commenced.

“Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.” J.Boyd stated rather smugly. “Now, if you excuse me, I have a mokai I must see.” Excusing himself from the crowds and avoiding the people (“congratulations J.B.! Your girl really has got that right stuff”), the middle class man made his way down the stairs, and into the area just outside the pit. A broad smile was as he could barely contain the joy that radiated from him. He loved winning just about as much as he loved the fighter subspecies. The first thing on his mind was to collect his winnings, and then he would go to check on his female. Obviously this human didn’t have his priorities in line.

Gathering his winnings, he untied his leash, strutting up to the pen where he would find his mokai. “I’m here for Ai.” The man said gruffly, his dark eyes searching the holding for his mokai.

“Sir, she’s in the infirmary right now.” One of the techs spoke.

“Why? She walked off just fine.”

“Sir, we noticed she had incurred some injuries. We are just assessing her, and getting her started on some necessary antibiotics.”

“…I see…” J.B. said with a frown. “Then, tell me, will she be able to fight again soon?”

“I’m sorry sir, I can’t answer that for you. Best to go to the infirmary to find out.” The tech walked off, after pointing the direction where the owner could find his pet.

J.B. walked rather quickly, his strides doubling than before. Walking through the doors, he spotted his striped female instantly. “You don’t look that bad.” He muttered to himself, striding into the healing wing. Ai’s horn was all bloodied, but that was most likely the previous liquid from the other mokai. He could see her collar was removed, which didn’t bother the human. “Is she almost ready to go?” He asked the doctor, tapping his foot impatiently as she waited for the doctor to answer.

“Almost sir. She sustained a few injuries, as did her opponent. We just want to make sure she is okay.” The doctor said casually.

“She had some wicked attacks on that other fighter, didn’t she?” J.B. asked, highly amused, and forgetting about his injured fighter for a moment.

“I’m sorry sir, I didn’t see the fight from in here.”

“Oh…Hm.” J.B. was silent.

“Annnd all done. There you go girl!” The doctor gave Ai a little pet, picking her up and handing her to J.B. “Here’s her collar. I’d probably just bring her back to her stall, rather than have her walk on her own. Give her a few days rest, and if you want, bring her home for a couple days. Looks like she tried her hardest from the injuries little Imnir over there sustained, so she deserves a nice little break. Feed her a lot of protein, and give her these pills every twelve hours...”

“Yes, I get the routine.” He rolled his eyes, taking the pills. “And if there are any problems see the vet in town, right? Thank you doctor.” Not to impressed with how the doctors worked in the compound, JB quickly made his way out of the infirmary, Ai in hand, along with the medication.

“Oh. Wait, sir! Mr. Lindon!” The doctor called out.

JB stopped, turning around to glance at him. “Please give her the medication when you get her back to the stall.”

“Okay.” And he was gone.

Exiting the compound with a few friends in tow, the man made his way back to the stalls. “---So, what did you guys think of that. I think investing in the horn mutation was a good idea! Don’t you?” he continued to chat, hearing the answers he wanted to hear, and speaking highly of himself in the process. Upon arriving at Ai’s stall, he placed his young fighter down in the fluffed up shaving, closing her door so she wouldn’t go out.

Her golden eyes peered curiously at her human, tilting her head as he left. “That was…weird.” If she knew he was going to get the yellow goop and some kind of product that she would willingly take the little white pill, her thoughts would be different, and she’d most likely go into hiding mode. She did hate that awful yellow stuff.

JB returned shortly, the jar in his hand, and a small wad of a meat ball in the other. “Here Ai.” He told her, sliding open the door as he entered.

“What is that stuff, Boyd?” a female asked, referring to the small brown jar. She had opened it and took a big whiff of the smell. She had regretted it shortly after. “Ugh, smells like something died in there.” She quickly closed the jar, handing it over to the male standing next to her, who held it for JB until he needed it.

“It’s just something the doctors’ prescribed for her last injury. Stinks to high heavens, but works like a charm. Here, Ai.”

The mokai laid on the shavings, still eyeing the male. She hurt too much to move, and JB seemed to recognize that. Placing the small wad of meat next to her nose, the female quickly engulfed the treat, biting into something crunchy along the way. The chalky taste of the pill was well covered by the taste of the meat, so she continued to chew, only to glance up when she was done. Have anymore? her tail wagged slightly, until her golden eyes landed on that of the antibiotic lotion. Oh please…not that stuff again! Look, I’m fine! Ai rose to her feet, just to prove to him she was okay. However, as soon as felt JB take off her collar, she knew the cause was useless. Settling back down, she huffed, looking away from the clad of people.

The goop was cold, stinky and sticky. She felt globs placed on her neck, and a few on her sides.

“You should get the one of the hands to do that for you, JB. Else you too will be as nasty smelling.”

“I usually do, but I administer it to her first, just so she trusts me. She won’t disobey someone she trusts.” The man spoke, closing the jar in backing away.

“I’ll be back later Ai.” He turned to his friends, a smile on his face. “So. I’m going to go get washed up. Who wants a round of drinks? On me of course!” The man walked off with his group, leaving the injured mokai alone in her stall. Sighing, she curled into a ball. At least her injuries weren’t as bad as last time. Maybe that meant she was getting better at this fighting thing. With a smile on her own maw, she fell into a dreamless sleep, forgetting about the horrid smell that radiated from the yellow goo on her back.
