Manami was born into the village of Konoha to the typical pair of parents. His father was a shinobi, and his mother a regular civilian. The themselves weren't remarkable; however, their son was. How could they tell? He was born with red eyes, which was the unique trait for their particular line that meant he possessed the abilities of Ranmaru. They were extremely proud of the boy they had birthed, but despite that, they told no one, fearing that someone would target him because of his ability. Thus, they would keep it from him until he graduated from the academy.
The environment he was raised in was open, carefree, and fun. Being a shinobi, his father wasn't around all that often, leaving Manami in the company of his mother. In her care he developed similar traits and skills passed on by her, becoming quite a bit more feminine through practice alone. He looked a lot like she did as well. It came as no surprise to him when he learned that he was physically weaker than his peers, and was poor at ninjutsu. His true talent lay in genjutsu, a specialty foreshadowed by his bloodline.
Being an illusionist, as he liked to call it, Manami played pranks on other children regularly, often leading him into trouble by the parents of his victims. He was never punished, though, as his parents said that it promoted creativity and ingenuity for jutsu that he could potentially make in the future. The other kids resented him for his, which led them to isolating him socially. All of this just contributed to the time that he happily spent with his mother.
He was content with his situation until the day the bijuu attacked. Manami doesn't know how or when it happened, but both of his parents were killed, and his home destroyed. Forcibly estranged by the grim reaper, he withdrew from the community even further, making himself a home deep within the forest in the boundaries of Konoha. Contact was limited to what he was forced to do, completing missions, and training. The only person he voluntarily talked with, or rather, 'thought' was a friend he had made just before the bijuu, Saiyuri Mayu.
