The King Household

The King family lives in a medium size house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Every inch of the house is nearly spotless except for the Ray's Room. The kitchen and dining room are somewhat combined. The kitchen's stove being island style. The master bedroom is a bit plain, but the rest of the house is covered in beautiful paintings. The garage is covered in junk left by the boys, mostly rocks, paint, and metal objects. And in Ray's room lies mountains of trash and rubbish that he has been collecting over the years.

Ever since the day June moved out, the King household has become a quiet and peaceful place. Boringly peaceful. Which is why the remaining child of the household was never really at home other than to sleep. His parent's were usually at home, but never made much noise. Normally watching television, or reading in the same room. While the boy sat and slept, or drew up designs for anything he wanted to build. A quiet household. One that lacked that certain flair, certain energy, that it used to have way back when. Although, one could argue that how it was now was certainly better than constant yelling. Ray had yet to decide which is better. While he loves being at peace in his own home. That emptiness his brother left by leaving still plagued him. Always living in this boringly silent home. Never changing day in and day out. Today was no different. Ray laid in his bed, shielding his eyes from the sun with his arm. It was already three in the after noon. And yet his day had just gotten started.
And why? Lotte of course. Trying out her crazy inventions on him all night. Yelling about getting ready for the tomato festival. It was such a hassle. Ray sighed as the thought lingered in his head. He brought down his arm, letting a little bit of light hit him as he squirmed in bed. The room was too cold. He hated the cold. However, he knew very well it was time to get up. Disciplined and all that. He rolled, literally rolled, out of bed and onto the floor with an "Oof." And after laying there for a minute or two, he picked himself up. He made his way across the floor, stubbing his toes on the random pieces of junk littered about, until he reached his closet. He stumbled into the dark room, only to emerge a minute later with grey jeans and a light blue t-shirt on. And even though his eyes weren't fully open yet, he still made his way downstairs to the kitchen, rummaging through the fridge for something to fill his stomach. Nothing really... Nothing he could eat with out cooking at least. And goddess did he suck at cooking. Ray grabbed a glass from the cabinet and filled it with some milk thinking how it would have to do for now. He looked over and waved to his parent's who were in the living room across the hall. Then took his glass and began to drinking, stumbling back from tiredness and catching himself with his other hand, forcing himself to chug the entire glass.

-Rune LeBlanc-
Another day... Rune couldn't believe how slow this summer had been. Granted, she could pit it at being inside the house all frigging summer barely keeping her mood alive with Sargent Yoakim and Ritalin deprived Wilhelm. Really, it was cute when he was two years old, now Rune doesn't know what to do with him. She can barely take a step without him running off to his father to tell him she did something wrong. His father... That was a term she was using rather often now that she was so irritated at the house. Surely she knew he wasn't her real father, but he felt like it. Except when she was frustrated, and lately it seemed like it was all she felt these days. Don't do this Rune. Don't wear that. Don't get pregnant. I'll kill him... So many phrases, Rune had heard them all. As a kid she found them funny, the way he would blow up and panic over her. Now? She just wanted to scream. He just didn't get it! Of course he didn't! But what didn't he get?
Oh well that was a thought that she didn't get to finish as she walked up to the King's front porch. The teenager gave two knocks before opening the door. Long ago it was settled that she should just come in instead of waiting hopelessly at the door. She poked her head through the door for a second before going inside. The King parents saw the girl in and waved, just as she did and smiled before moving over to look for her friend. It was the afternoon... She idly wondered to head upstairs, though the rummaging in the nearby kitchen caught her attention. "Hey Ray" chimed the girl, still carrying that smile from before. "Earth to Ray" Rune said, noticing his odder than usual state. "Hey are you even awake yet?" she asked with a small laugh. Not many times do you see someone fighting so much to create an insane amount of balance... to drink milk.

Ray, still in his dazed state, had yet to realize that he had a visitor. In fact at the moment of her arrival and greeting, the boy was to busy coughing from drinking the milk in one go, self-forcibly. He put the glass down and wobbled a bit. Still not exactly awake, but not really asleep anymore. At least he was conscious enough to notice his friend was standing besides him. He looked at her and rubbed one of his eyes, "Rune..." His body jerked a bit, from gravity, as he began to tip over. Luckily he was able to catch himself and slightly bring his mind into a working state. "Good morning..." He continued in his soft voice. No different from the way he normally talked. Still as quite and weak-voiced as ever. Though the whole just woke up thing made it even harder for him to talk. Ray placed one hand on his forehead and shook his head for a second. Trying to regain at least some composure. Although, only one thing formed into his mind. He looked back at the fridge and then at Rune, his stomach now audibly grumbling. "Food..." He spoke once more, as he took a deep breath in, the cold air of the house woke him up a bit more and he stood up straighter.

And... he wasn't. Rune watched him for a moment, reacting every three seconds to be of some balance to him when he wasn't staying straight. Luckily each time she made the move, he was all right. It was so odd to see him like this. Well not that odd, since Lotte did take advantage, or Ray let it happen... Whichever it was, ever since he took the role as apprentice, she'd witnessed a cadaver Ray on occasions. Still it was odd, he was always so composed... But she couldn't admit it was rather endearing, when he wasn't worrying her like right now, staying still with a hand covering his face. Her brow furrowed slightly in worry, was he all right? Oh dear he wouldn't go down now! No he said good morning. He recognized her-Food? Rune let out a breath and shook her head, a smile now taking it's place. Now we were at the zone of endearing. "Don't do that doofus" spoke the girl before crossing her arms in front of her and leaning against the counter a bit. She tugged at the edge of her cardigan, quite aware of the cold air trying to invade her. "Here's an idea Ray. Eat. Right there in the fridge is the food. Go." For a genius, Ray could be silly at times...

Another deep breath in, and a large exhale out. And with the air coming in, so did Rune's words. He looked over to the fridge, that deep fog in his head clearing away mostly. He walked back over to the fridge and opened it once more. Nothing had really changed... Though there were leftovers! Ray smirked, shoving his hands into the fridge and hugging the random containers of left overs to his chest. He kicked the fridge closed and dropped the containers on the counter, then turned and grabbed a loaf of bread from the counter. With all the ingredients ready, Ray began to build his super leftover sandwich. It contained potato salad, pulled pork, spaghetti, and cream of mushroom soup for a sauce. Not what your normal person would eat... But the boy had gotten so used to just eating whatever that he could eat any weird concoction and be satisfied. Taking a bite of the sandwich seemed to clear any leftover drowsiness from that white covered skull of his. Which allowed him to look at Rune again, and this time speak coherently. "Did I forget that we were hanging out?" Ray asked, munching on his breakfast (lunch). He normally asked this kind of thing, even though Rune was welcome to visit whenever, he never really remembered the times when he was awake cause they were usually filled with chaos, leaving him to wonder if they had an arrangement.

"Ray that's weird..." frowned Rune as she watched him make that concoction. It had been amusing to see him just a second before. Kind of cute actually, if you were into containers and all. Weird or not, it was food, and it making him come back to earth. Look it was a completely sentence! Granted drowned out by weird sandwich, but a sentence nonetheless. Were they hanging out today? Well in all honesty not really. She had just wanted to get out of the house... "Not this time, no" smiled the girl, unfolding her arms and leaving them at her side for a moment before hiding them behind her back to press against the counter. She seemed like a little kid doing so, like she was hiding something, but that just a little habit she had picked up. "Just had some free time and figured we could. Unless you're busy?" Of course he probably was... but that was his own fault for agreeing to be her slave. Rune looked at him for a moment before wondering why he was drowsy in the first place. Sure he wasn't a morning person in the least, but by this time of the day he was normally functional. "What were you up to last night anyways? You look beat... really beat."

Ray totally ignored the girl's first comment with a blank stare while eating. He already knew, but he was hungry so... Oh well. As for the rest of what she was saying. The boy listened intently, but kept his mouth 'shut' until he was finished eating. It was rude to talk while eating. So after the last bit of food slid down his throat, his mind began to work on his answers. "I'm free," He spoke back in his monotone, rather than his dreariness. Today he probably should show up at the workshop... But, oh well. It's not like Lotte would go out of her way to track him down because he didn't show up. Or would she? Either way, she could handle him not being in for one day. Which brought Ray to the second question, he sighed immediately as it was told. His whole body felt weary just thinking about it, "Lotte's preparing for the Tomato Festival..." In his mind there was nothing else really needed to say. Rune had heard enough stories to know, plus she had been to all of the festivals herself. It was pretty obvious why the boy was so tired. However, he decided to move on from that. The girl had came to hang out, and the boy was willing to accompany her. Though a nap sounded good as well... He shook his head, trying to remove the though. Then he looked back at his friend, "Did you have anything particularly in your mind for today?"

"Ah..." Rune said no more on that. Lotte... Oh that certainly explained things... She still wondered why he decided to work under Lotte... Aside from the practical reasons it was just dangerous, and complete madness when you thought about it... Well Rune supposed there were some things she wouldn't be able to understand about her best friend. Though it wasn't like his brother was any easier to understand, so that probably a fault the people in Nirvani had. That thought was interrupted with Ray's question. Did she? Not really... "Well..." She had just wanted to get out the house... "We could just go around. I mean it's about time you were taken away from the workshop... and it's getting a bit... hectic back home. If you want, because we could do something else" spoke the girl. She did invade him after waking up... Though now that she thought about it, a walk sounded pretty nice.

Ray nodded his head. It was easier than saying yes. Plus when the girl mentioned her home, it made the boy think a bit. Rune had complained to him before about it, so he was pretty well informed on the situation. Though sympathizing was a bit harder. Everyone had there own issues at home. But, that didn't mean he did not care. It worried him that she was having such difficulties. Unfortunately, there's was nothing he could do but listen. "A walk is fine," He said simply as he started to clean up his mess. It's been awhile since Ray had been out around the town, breathing fresh natural air. A small smile formed on his stoic face. It did sound nice after all. He looked down at his clothing... Was he dressed appropriately? He never could tell proper attire for going out. Though it was just a walk... It should be fine. So after he was done cleaning he headed out towards the foyer and opened the closet by the front door. He pulled out his heavy coat, a brown pilot's coat lined with fur, and slipped on his shoes. He was sure rune was already following, so he waved off his parents and opened the door to leave.

Dressed rather casually in a long-sleeved gray t-shirt and jeans, Ed walked up to the doorstep of the King residence, idly examining the exterior of it. ..He didn't like it at all, but, well, he could hardly complain. The home wasn't his to live in and he wasn't here to stand around critiquing the architects who certainly weren't anywhere nearby. He was here to pick up his.. date. Had Ed ever been on a date? ..Not really. He didn't feel any urge to do so before and he found wasting hard-earned money on some girl to be stupid when he could be spending it on someone he actually liked. Like Vi or Morgan. But, today had come to be the day he would spend it on himself – for the sake of science! The Tomato Festival still sat in his mind, pestering him from focusing on his unnecessary studies and forcing him into such an impulsive act as this. ..He should at least be happy to know that, if Ray was still as he recalled him to be during their school days, the white-haired genius wouldn't go around telling people. Well, at least not people that Ed knew. He knocked on the door and waited patiently for the boy to answer it, looking straight ahead where he knew Ray would probably be standing in a few moments.

Ray had joined the white day festivities since he really didn't have anything else to do. His parents suggested it to probably get him out of the house, and he wasn't exactly complaining. Yet, he might have had a few complaints about who bought him. Well, more like comments. He never expected to be bought by a guy... And for such a low price. Not something built self-esteem. Though the white haired inventor didn't think on the same level as normal people. He had only saw it as a way to pass time. What he was doing didn't mean much. Which is why he got ready as if he was going out just anywhere. A pair of jeans, sneaks and a t-shirt with a brown pilot's coat on. And went downstairs to meet the person who bought his company. He knew Ed from school, though he felt it was a bit weird to meet under these conditions. However, he didn't see it as a bad thing. Ray wasn't interested in romance, much less with a guy. But, Ed was someone who was a bit more like the white haired boy which made him feel a bit at ease with the situation. At least it wasn't someone like Lotte after all. He opened the door and nodded to the boy in front of him. He lifted a hand to his jawline and scratched it nervously, "Uh... It's been awhile."

“Two seasons, more or less.” Ed replied as soon as Ray spoke – he wasn't sure it really counted as 'while', but he wasn't going to ridicule Ray for using an estimate when Ed had just done so himself. He didn't spend his time counting down the days since graduation, after all – who would when there were better things to do? He looked the boy down – casual, like Ed, but not dressed badly. Decent. He looked to his face next in examination. He wasn't bad looking, no, but he wasn't the best either. Average, if one didn't count in the white hair.. But, then, Ed knew Rune vaguely since he was little; it was easy to get used to the obscure hair color. All in all, Ray was someone that any normal person would have passed over without much thought. Short, unassuming, and introverted. A good enough date. “You can call me Ed and I'll call you Ray.” Best to get the introductions out of the way first. “We're going to go on a date. I'll pay for everything, so don't try.” He held his arm out, “Take my arm and come.” ..Obviously, Ed was the taller one here, so he had to be the man. It was how these things worked, correct?

Ray wasn't exactly sure what to make of the situation. All he knew is that he was obviously being treated as the female of the date. Which, he didn't really see a problem with. It was not worth trying to fuss about it. The date was just one night with a guy who until this day he didn't even know his name. Why would he care enough to argue? "Sure," He responded in his monotone as the Ed explained the parameters of the date. At least he didn't have to spend money. That was always an upside. Cause really, Lotte didn't even pay him. Ray's only money came from the little inventions he could actually sell. Why else would he still be at home? Which added another reason why the boy was okay with the date. He was getting a free meal. So when Ed held out his arm, Ray didn't take long to attach himself to it. For many guys this would probably be a huge problem. Being accused of homosexuality. For Ray, this was a free meal ticket for the night. So if Ed wanted to hold his hand or whatever, as long as he was paying for food, the white haired boy wasn't going to complain.

Submissive, too. This certainly was the best choice for his first date with a man. Ed was rather pleased, even if he didn't bother to show it on his face; he was more preoccupied with other things. Like how he needed to make sure this was the best date Ray had ever had in his entire life or else he would have failed everything and have to do it again. There was only so much money Ed had saved up from his work at the circus and he didn't want to waste all of it on something as simple as a date. “We will go to the inn for dinner.” He informed Ray as he lead him off the doorstep and onto the trail leading out off of the house's property. He made sure to keep a steady, slow pace for the other to keep up with as he went, remaining silent only long enough to assure himself that it was a good enough pace for Ray to manage. After that, he spoke calmly, “Do you live by yourself, Ray?” Never let the conversation die – he had seen that tip several times during his research and he would be stupid to not take the advice. Even during the walk over to the Inn, Ed made sure to listen closely to Ray and keep up a conversation with his steady pace. The multitasking proved to be pretty easy even if he knew he was hungry and eager to get there already.
