Having a roll raised to his mouth Triston quickly dropped it back to the table as the door opened. Oh, they had timed things well. The ice cattaur had to sigh quietly under his breath before looking awkwardly up at Constance, “Busy, I guess.” He commented when she brought up the idea of everyone else. Honestly, he wondered what they could be up to that they would be suddenly so ‘busy’. It wasn’t a busy time for the tavern though he desperately wished it was. The busier they were the less trouble the girls could make for him.

Still as it was he couldn’t waste a good meal. Looking at the female who was bathed beautifully in the flickering light Triston had to pause. And he didn’t have anything against Constance…his gaze may have softened slightly as he noticed the painted cast. All of this trouble she had gone through just because of his actions…Triston pulled out a chair and motioned towards the other cattaur, “Let’s just eat.” Moving to the other side he quietly started to serve the fish and other random tidbits on both of their plates.

Pausing he waited with his gaze gleaming in the lights for Constance to take the first bite.

Constance pursed her lips slightly. "Busy? They knew dinner was going to be ready." What a silly crew... Get her all dressed up for dinner, and not even show up themselves!

Sighing with disappointment, she nodded and headed over to the offered seat. Though, maybe this was a chance to get to know Triston better? Perking up, she gave him an appreciative smile as he filled the plates. She wasn't at all hesitant in taking a bite, oblivious to Triston's gaze. A soft purr of approval rose from her. "Maybe I can learn to cook like this some day.." she sighed wistfully, shaking her head at herself.

"Oh! Akiye painted the cast for me," she said happily, sticking her leg out and wincing at the sudden ache the action caused. She wasn't used to being stuck in something so restricting... "Do you like it?"

Triston just shook his head silently at her innocence. Perhaps spending the winter here would teach her a thing or two about the conniving possibilities of the females who worked here. Still it was slightly adorable how innocent she could be sometimes. It gave him even more reason to want to protect her from the harshness of the world around them. Really it was insane how childlike she could be sometimes.

After she took a bite the cattaur began to slowly pick at his plate, “You could.” He replied quietly looking around. She was a guest of the tavern after all. Any of the cooks would be glad to have some help during the winter meals, especially when the holidays and the parties began. He wondered how Constance would take to seeing the main room decorated with the strings and the tree that Flora always asked for help with every year. Zara’s talent at lighting was also amazing, the colorful lights of the candles that flickered innocently in the room currently could attest to that. Then Akiye all on her own could transform anything into a beautiful piece of art.

Nodding at her question Triston paused before quietly asking, “Does it hurt you?” His pale blue gaze looked up at her curiously. After all he still regretted allowing those thugs to even get near Constance. He just hoped she would heal quickly so that she could be ready to go back to her world in the spring. For some reason the thought made the cattaur pause…but it was best for her to keep to her woods, right? After all in the summer he would be gone North again as usual.

Constance looked at Triston with surprise, and then smiled again. He thought she could learn to cook? Would they really teach her here?

Looking down at her cast, she bashfully pulled her leg back and shook her head. "No, not really... I just moved it too quickly. ..And I'm not used to being in something so tight," she murmured sadly. However, she quickly perked up again. "I picked out a shirt, too! ..Do I fit in more, now?" She plucked lightly at one of the holes. She'd never given a thought to fitting in anywhere, but now that she was here for the winter... she didn't want to somehow shame those who were doing so much for her.

“They wouldn’t mind.” He commented at her obvious surprise. She had already won over the staff here with her pure spirit. Triston poured a glass of wine at the thought. As he took a drink the cattaur savored one of the rare things which he truly enjoyed and it presence was just more proof of how everyone was intent on making their guest happy. Not every occasion called for some of Flora’s own flower wine after all. Ever so carefully Triston poured some into Constance’s glass as well. Of course it would be Zura’s idea to give them something warm that tasted of spring and summer for the warm cattaur sitting across from him.

His gaze sincere Triston looked at Constance for a long moment as he pondered her answer. Did it really not hurt that much? His expression shifted before he slowly nodded, “Good.” Even if it was a slight lie at least she seemed as energetic as ever. Her comment about clothing though made him blink, “Oh.” If the cattaur could flush he may have once his gaze lingered over her outfit, “It’s…nice.” He was glad she liked the shawls that he had picked out for her, but at the same time it was strange to see Constance in clothing like that.

Flora had told him it was better to help her with some things rather than waiting for the first costumer that hit on the innocent cattaur to lose something to Triston. Hidden teasing aside Triston took those words sincerely as it was his role to be her guardian for now. After all he had a lot to make up for…the cast on her leg was proof of that enough. The thought made him take another drink of the wine before he went back to eating quietly.

Ears perking, Constance stared curiously at the mysterious colored liquid being poured into her cup. It smelled like nature, but.. not. What was this? She pulled the glass closer, and gave the contents another few sniffs.

Triston's response distracted her though, and her bright smile lifted. He really liked what she'd picked out? "Thank you." She tugged at the already low neckline again, reminding herself that it wasn't riding up to choke her. She lifted her glass and took a sip. When the sweet liquid touched her tongue, her eyes blinked rapidly in surprise, raising the glass to watch the light shine through the wine for another inspection."What is this?"
