One's wandering of the forest may bring them out of the dark and into the light once more. This clearing is somewhere along the middle of these woods and holds an air of gentle sweetness. The grass is tall enough to brush just past one's ankles in a ticklish fashion, the flowers that sprinkle in between the lush green varies from species to species, but whether this vast selection of floral decoration is the work of a certain mortal or just a wonder of nature and wind is for the individual to decide. Regardless, there is a delightful mix of smells here that some may find dizzying, while others will delight in it. Rabbits, groundhogs, and several other critters can be found lazing about here, somehow secure despite the open sky threatening them from above. The largest beast one may see is a deer hopping her way through or one of the wild horses enjoying nature's pasture. While strolling through, either taking this destination for a picnic or simple moment of contemplation, the wind will seem to whisper past one's ears. This eerie, yet calming, sound draws the eyes towards a shrine standing humbly in the center. Here, we give worship to the Wind Fairy and it's past followers.

It was a lovely day for a picnic in Edmund's opinion. It was late in the summer, so the days were beginning to cool in preparation for Fall, but they were not yet chilly. Yes, the spring was often cited as prime picnicking season, but Edmund was beginning to think that he had stumbled across a hidden treasure. But he quite enjoyed making things seem more significant than they really were.

In any case, it was a fine summer's afternoon on which he decided to take his family on a picnic. They had been living on the island for about a season by this point, and yet they had failed to do any sort of real family activity together. This was a definite problem, a problem he had to hurry to fix before it had any detrimental effect on his children.

"You three will be starting school soon," Edmund spoke as they tromped through the field. He had been talking nonstop, delivering a monologue of sorts, since they had left the house. Of course, he paused every once in a while, to organize his thoughts, allow his words to sink in (surely his children were hanging on every word), or to make sure his trousers hadn't gotten snagged on anything. The wild, overgrown grass was lovely from a distance, but it was murder on his suit.

"Yes, you three will be starting school soon," he repeated with a knowing nod. "So we had better take advantage of our time together while we still can. You will be surprised to find how fleeting youth can be!" With this rather dramatic declaration, Edmund stopped walking and placed the folded picnic blanket he was carrying in the grass. "Now, who would like to help their father set up?" He did not wait for an answer before he waved to Rayne. "Come here, Rayne. Yes, you will be a young man soon enough, time to begin acting like it." He held out the picnic basket for the bay to take, all while mentally congratulating himself on being such a splendid parent.

What a boring day... What an absolutely terrifyingly boring day. How Edmund had actually got his group of children to come out for a picnic was beyond one young red head's imagination. Rayne had spent most of his time on the island scamming people left and right, sparing barely any time at all for his 'family'. And, he really didn't see a reason why he should, Edmund was boring, and Adelaide was well... A brat.

As for Nessa, Rayne was quite fond of his new 'sister'. Even at the orphanage, the blonde was always one of the boy's favorites. She was good at not making him angry, and was a pretty entertaining to talk to. It's like she knew the right thing to say to someone. Which is why Rayne had no objections to the adoption, he would get to stay with Nessa, and Adelaide. However, Edmund was a bit much. He was a good man, but that was just it. The guy was just to easy of a mark. The red head teen could walk all over the man, spit in his face, and rub it in with the cruelest of words he could think of, and still the man would try to bond with his adopted son. Of course, Rayne would never think of doing any such things. Edmund was in fact, a mark. And a mark, a mark is never treated badly, besides the actual scam. It was a concept the red head had trouble keeping with other people, but he made sure to keep his good son charade up in front of his 'father'. He would hat to be in some orphan's home again. So when Edmund asked for a hand, after being ignored by Rayne during his little speech, the teen obliged. "Yessir," He responded with that oh so teenage tone of suppressed complaints.

It had come with much surprise to Nessa when a family picnic was suggested by their father. The girl hadn't pegged him as the type to bring up such awkward plans without at least a little encouragement, but she really did forget that she wasn't the only one Edmund spoke to. Either of the twins could have said something to him – or around him – and thus encouraged him to go take them on a picnic right around when fall was starting to sneak it's way into summer. Wasn't the church hosting some kind of camping trip? That was probably it. Any blame she had on the twins was swept away as she recalled that. It wasn't a bad idea, anyway; Nessa had spent the last few days doing nothing but staring at Erika's number and mulling over when to call her. But, this was a pleasant way to keep her mind off things. She frowned, though, as her father's words just trailed her thoughts back onto what she was attempting to avoid. School. Erika would probably be at school and, if she didn't go over for her sleepover soon, then it would look bad to bump into her at school! ..Ah, but, chances were that she wasn't going to end up in the same classroom as Erika. The island was small, but she was sure they had at least five rooms; the odds were against her being paired up with Erika! She smiled happily at that thought and went back to the now.

I can help!” She volunteered as she caught up to the two boys, having trailed behind some ways as Edmund had started up in his usual slow speeches. Her excuse was that they were men and, thus, could handle the wilderness of a field better, but the reality was a little more simple and selfish than that. Plus, it didn't help that she had worn stockings that day to try to protect her legs from the tall grass. She should have taken into account how easy it was for the thin fabric to get caught in grass, but, no one was perfect. She brushed off a few thistles as she continued talking, frowning as one of them left a small tear. “I heard you could see horses out here sometimes.” She commented as she waited for a direction, easing herself onto the blanket in the meantime. “Or bears. Have you ever seen a bear, dad? ...Could you handle a bear, daddy?” She had paused in her careful picking of thistles from her stockings to look up at the man (Edmund) – he was big enough for one, right? ...If anything, he could slow it down.. Or.. help her climb a tree..
