Moving through the forest for some length of time, following the river and streams up to the far end of the forest, almost directly opposing the mountain in it's great height, is the lake. The waters here are crystal clear, enchanting even the local deer into stopping for a gander. It's temperatures vary from season to season, freezing completely during the winter time, as most lakes do. But, not every lake is as bountiful of fish, welcoming to the eyes, and as peaceful as this one. Ducks and geese next around the waters and can be seen enjoying a swim, catching a trout or carp skimming underway. Children may entertain themselves at the shallow edge, where frogs and their young can be seen darting about. Though, be wary of the reeds. Water snakes and the occasional snapping tortoise can be found hiding here, at the center of all the animals of the forest. It is indeed an ideal location for any hunter, human or other. Some, however, are not here to fish, swim, or, on occasion, ice skate, but, rather, to visit the shrine, sitting atop the muddy bank comfortably and untouched. Here, we give worship to the Wood Fairy and all it's past followers.

It was a crisp fall morning as Rory trudged through the overgrown grass, clutching an oversized jar. Ever since he was a child, there was something about autumn that set off a part of his brain and made him desperate for change. The big friendship-pausing fight with Natalia all those years ago had begun in fall. And so when he woke up that morning and tore off a page from on his joke-a-day calendar (What did the monkey say when he got his tail caught in the revolving door? It won't be long now. Rory had a nice chuckle over that.) and saw that it was now officially the beginning of the Fall season, he began to feel restless. The museum, his pride and joy, was already becoming outdated! Afterall, his special exhibit on Native American agriculture last season had been a bust to say the least. It was probably silly of him anyway, to assume that the residents of Nirvani would be interested in American heritage. They wanted something closer to home! And so he had the brilliant idea to focus on the local goings-on a little more. Insects! Nirvani had interesting insects, and who didn't like bugs? And Natalia had sent him a book on Entomology for his birthday, so it all worked out perfectly. So Rory had found the biggest jar he had in the museum storage room and made his way to the lake.

Perhaps it would have been better to prepare this exhibit earlier, Rory couldn't help but think as he glanced around the grassy field leading up to the lake. There wasn't anything obvious, nor were there any rotting logs or trees nearby that provided an obvious hiding place. Maybe he should have gone to the forest afterall. It was a little too cold for beetles, but he had somehow felt like he had miscalculated. But even if it were still summer, he would probably still be at a loss. He honestly didn't know what he was looking for, but he imagined that it would be a little difficult to try to catch the gnats that hovered above the grass a few feet in front of him. And so he set the jar down, tipping it sideways to make it easier for a bug to crawl in, and crouched down, resting his arms on his knees. Maybe if he was lucky, he'd just have to wait a bit, and something would show up. Preferably soon, though, as he could feel his ankles begin to strain already.

Normally the morning was not at all a busy time. Normally a lake was never a busy place. Today that seemed to ring true. And yet still surprisingly, there was more than one person amongst the area. Now that was strange. Though there reason's not so much. While the man who had just arrived was searching for bugs, another man was on the shore of the water trying to catch things of his own. Though this man had already been here since the break of day. Sitting out in very... Grundy clothing, around him a tackle box and assorted coolers for food and for his catches, the dark haired man had all he needed for his small little trip. And what did the trip entail? Fishing of course. Not only was it this young man's career, but his most favorite hobby. And today he wasn't working. Yesterday he had the sudden urge to start exploring the bodies of water around the island. Because of course, two days ago he had starting living here officially. Living with a strange yet kind man who took him in. A weird situation, he didn't mind however. As long as he wasn't out on the streets why complain?

With a new home comes new adventures. And like stated before, today's adventure had lead him to the island's lake. One that so far, wasn't very bad for fishing. In the 5 hours he had been out, he had probably caught 9 or 10 fish worth mentioning, and maybe a dozen little stragglers. Of course most of them he returned to the water. Keeping only ones that were to far caught on the hook to be helped. Though even though the catching was good. Even he was getting bored, which appeared obviously in his demeanor. His fishing rod centered in his lap as he sat indian style, leaning back to look at the sky, his mind not even focused on fishing. He was almost ready to pack up... He never really liked leaving until noon hit though. He could only ever consider a fishing day complete with at least six hours of fishing. Yet these six seemed to be dragging on. Maybe he was just tired from moving in? Normally the idea of coming to new waters was more than exciting. Everyone can't be happy all the time though. But, all was not lost, again as stated, there was another person amongst the nature of the lake right now. And when the man noticed him, it put a smile on his face. And even though he couldn't really make out what the guy was doing, it really didn't matter. He pivoted his body around and called out to the random guy, "What cha' doin' out here?"

Rory's ankles began to ache more and more as time passed, feeling like hours though it was more likely minutes. He was never good at waiting without anything to do. He usually had a book to flip through at least. So without anything to do at all, he found himself becoming bored incredibly fast, even though he tried to distract himself by recalling the scientific names of common insects, in case they made themselves known.

In his concentration, his eyes had wandered down towards his tennis shoes, so when he heard a rustling in the grass, he leaped to conclusions. A bug was his first instinct, of course, but a split second's worth of listening told him that the sound was too big for a bug. A giant bug, then! Why, he may be encountering the largest insect known to man...! He could feel himself grow excited, but as he flicked his eyes upwards and met those of a dark haired young man, that excitement was replaced with a great deal of disappointment. That would teach him to jump to conclusions. Still, it was a distraction, and perhaps the young man would know where to find something.

"I'm looking for insects," Rory answered as he stood up, wincing as the tension in his ankles was released. He gestured to the jar that lay by his feet and broke into a grin. There was nothing wrong with a thirty-two year old man searching for bugs with the same interest as an eight year old boy, not at all. In fact, he had never really been allowed to dig for worms as a kid, so he was quite pleased to have the opportunity now. "Say, do you happen to know where I can find any? Something interesting, I want to make a special exhibit. Nirvani's Insects! I'm sure it'll be popular with the kids." He was talking a lot, but he was excited. The idea of all those little kids, enjoying science, made his heart swell. Especially since, lately, the only real visitors he had to the museum were old NPC's, his janitor, and that pink haired woman.

"Exhibit?" The man replied a bit curious. Was there something like a museum on the island? He didn't really have a chance to look around town at all... Though if there was, that would be quite interesting. Unfortunately, it seemed like this blonde man was in for a bit of disappointment. Shame too, no one would want to disappoint the kids. "Sorry pal', there aren't any insects laying out in the open this time of year," He eventually answered, giving a dishearten frown. True summer was just yesterday, but it was the time of year that bugs made themselves scarce. The man would have to settle for a gnat or fly buzzing around if he wanted bugs. Although, the dark haired man was not about to ruin the blonde's enthusiasm so easily. If he could cheer him up then all would be good! "Though you know you could always check some clocks," The man began, trying to hold back a chuckle, "I hear they have lots of ticks!" Yes, the man understood what he was saying. Yes, he had heard the words that came out of his mouth. He choose to say it. And he loved it. He loved it so much that he couldn't help but snicker at his own joke.

He knew it, Rory mourned with a sigh as the young man informed him that he was out of luck. His best ideas always came a moment too late. Not that this was one of his best ideas. No, it didn't even come close to the Chinese calligraphy workshop or the exhibit on why Pluto wasn't a planet anymore -- why, that one had delighted him so much, he extended it for two more seasons! But it had been a fully formed idea nonetheless, and he had been having trouble sorting through all of the half-baked concepts that swirled around in his head lately. And so when the man confirmed his fears, he was overcome with disappointment. His shoulders sagged and he let out a long sigh, even threw in a slow shake of his head for dramatic effect. If Nat were still around, she'd probably kick his a** for not thinking ahead of time. (And if NATALIA was telling you to get your s**t together, you knew something was wrong.) Maybe he just wouldn't mention this in their weekly phonecall.

Rory continued to stand there, dejected, until Levi continued. He stared at the man for a long time after. Clocks? Ticks? A person with a normal sense of humor would probably have judged Levi harshly for telling such a lame joke, but Rory wasn't like those people. He was a great appreciator of puns! An underrated art form, in his opinion. So after a prolonged moment of silence, a goofy grin broke out across his face and his eyes seemed to sparkle with delight. Then he began to laugh, not just a basic chuckle, but a deep belly laugh that was most likely completely inappropriate considering the degree of the joke. "A clock ticks! Clever!" he cried as his shortlived, yet intense, laughter subsided. His entire mood had improved. He may not have found any bugs, but he did find someone who shared his sense of humor! "You're a funny guy," he added, patting Levi firmly on the shoulder. "I'm Rory, Rory Cameron. I own the museum here. It's nice to meet you."

Now what was this? Levi just made some laugh so lively? Now that just made his day! It's been a long time since he's been able to make someone laugh like that, (more like ever) it was definitely a good feeling. And that good feeling brought a smile to his face. "Levi Abbel," He replied as Rory gave his name, "I'm the new local fishing guy I guess you could say." He didn't really like being called a fisherman. That sounded weird. A 'fish-er-man'. A fish man! Who would want to be that? I mean yeah mermaids and all that but still, you must smell horrible. Fishing guy was better. A guy who fishes. Fishing guy. More straight to the point! Regardless, Levi smiled and pointed over to a cooler her brought, "Would you like to sit and have a drink?" It was rare to meet someone at such a random location. But, not horribly strange. As a man of the water, Levi usually ran into people here and there on his fishing trips. If they were nice enough he even shared a nice chat. Maybe today was one of those days.

Rory had an empty jar and no idea for this season's exhibit, but it was still looking to be a successful day. ...He had to admit, he had been a bit of a hermit since Natalia left. Since he moved out here, really, though with a loud roommate, one was more inclined to go out. It seemed that as of late, the only people he talked to regularly were some of the shrunken heads he had purchased from that interesting magic shop! And they probably didn't count. So he was pleased to be meeting someone else, who seemed like such good company.

"A drink? That sounds nice, thanks," he replied eagerly, picking up his jar so he wouldn't forget it. He had a limited supply of oversized jars, afterall. Shouldn't waste them! By this point, however, he was quite excited about the thought of making a new friend, especially one who had such an interesting occupation. "A 'fishing guy', huh? Sounds real interesting!" he continued brightly. What fun, a fishing guy. "Oh, you wouldn't happen to be an ichthyologist, would you? Oh, I've always wondered what kind of fish are native to the island, but there hasn't been much published on it. Oncorhynchus mykiss, perhaps? Oh, or maybe Abramis brama? When I was kid, I had a pet Carassius auratus auratus. It was a small little thing, but I read that they could get as big as three kilograms! I was so disappointed that mine was so small. Later, I realized that what grows as large as three kilograms isn't Carassius auratus auratus, but Carassius gibelio, which was once known as Carassius auratus gibelio. Ahh, I felt so silly!" he paused to laugh at the memory. What a simple time it was. Five year olds just can't get scientific names of species straight! "What species of fish do you usually catch? I'd love to know." Maybe there was hope for this exhibit afterall! Forget insects, fish were much more cuddly!

"Icth... Ickatha... olo-What?" Levi replied blankly. Rory was spewing out words the man couldn't even begin to comprehend. Certainly none of it was English. Though he was saying some stuff that Levi could understand. "I haven't found any fish out here that any other place I've lived," He spoke while he set his rod into a stand. This island's climate was pretty temperate, leaving only a select amount of very common fish to live around here. The man turned to the cooler and opened it up, inside were a couple of beers and a few bottles of water. "I've only caught a few carp and goby so far. Nothing special," Though it was not like he was looking. Besides smart fish don't go and get caught. That's why all those science-y types have a hard time finding them. However, that's not to say the blonde was even talking about exotic fish. With the kind of names he was spewing, Levi couldn't tell if he was talking about sea urchins or goldfish. But hopefully, what he said would suffice as an answer. "Though I don't want to carp on about fishes all day" He added with a small chuckle.
