I'm having a party, and I'm trying to stick with eco friendly decorations and organic foods. Do you have a favorite recipe, or suggestions?
So far, I've decided to get bamboo flatware, so I can clean them up to use as garden markers in the spring. I also want to use seed paper for decorations, so that when I take them down, I can save those for the garden, too.
The recipe I want to try most, so far, is roasted pumpkin with maple, pecan, and cranberry stuffing.

Those dried ears of corn that they often sell around this time of year can be popped over an open campfire. If you have a BBQ or fire pit in your yard (and a fire permit if one is required in your area) then having popped corn strait off the ear can double up as both an activity and a snack.
A word of caution: Because they are dry, they can catch on fire just as easily as they are likely to pop. I do not recommend this activity for small children and regardless of who is doing it, you will want to keep a fire extinguisher of some variety on hand.

I'll have to try that sometime. I've got some of the corn already, for decorating with.

When I've decorated, I've always bought novelty items from Winners (or Value Village) and have just been careful on storing them. I had fuzzy spiders that have seen many a Halloween.
Other decorations, I just grab items from where I live - branches, leaves, any gourds or pumpkins I've grown (lol) or can buy from the store.
As much as I love Halloween, I never really do anything. We roast pumpkin seeds with some sea salt and garlic and omg, delish. There's never enough of that.

Do you just sprinkle garlic powder on it or do you use cloves somehow?

I'm not that fond of pumpkin seeds, but it makes me wonder how garlic sunflower seeds would be.

My boyfriend just sprinkles a bit of garlic powder on them. A little bit goes a long way. I need to see if I can get some pumpkins this year. Anghared Starwing I'm not that fond of pumpkin seeds, but it makes me wonder how garlic sunflower seeds would be. I never was either, until a few years ago. I'm terrible and lazy and just buy salted sunflower seeds. sweatdrop Edit: Boy did I botch the BBC code on that one!

What I wish I could find again was the candy coated sunflower seeds, but the organic foods store near me moved. *grumblegrumble*
Lol, I took sausage bread to a party last night, and not a single slice survived. It's always nice when your cooking is appreciated. xd

I love the recycled book pumpkin, and the skull face eggs. Those could be even more fun, filling them with jello brains. biggrin
