WARNING VOILENCE, DEATH, FIGHING.
A young man, barely out of his teens stood at the uppermost ring of the great coliseum and looked down with horror. The scene before him was brutal, and would change him for the rest of his life.
"MARY!" His desperate yell was drowned out by the roar of the crowds. The girl on the arena grounds couldn't hear his voice over the others, but it didn't matter much. It didn't take long before that scene was over, and the games would continue, but the execution would stain the young man's memories for the rest of his life...
He watched as the love of his life was thrown to the lions, literally, executed for treason against a kingdom she didn't know or belong to, killed to entertain a mob.
"Veth, im so glad you could make it, I was starting to worry that you were going to miss the show." Walking out of the shadows was a tall, ancient looking man, and with him came an escort of soldiers.
Turning, the young man Veth, drew the sword at his side. It was nothing more then a cheap short sword though. Veth had no reason left to live at that point, he wished to die, to join his Mary. His eyes fell upon the man that facilitated all of this, the eyes of a youthful adventurer that had lost everything, the eyes of a man longing for vengeance. He shot forward like a bolt of lightning, weaving between the the blades of the guards. One came from behind, thrusting a sword at Veth's back, while another made a horizontal slash to remove his head from his body. Veth spun knocking the thrust out wide, and ducked just under the slashing blade, actually losing hair from the closeness. His retaliation brought better results, he stepped in close to the guard that attempted to skewer him, before the man could recover, and slammed home his own sword into the man's heart. The blade cut through the armor of the guard making a horrid screech. Spinning back, Veth just managed to raise his sword up to stop a blow from another guard.
There were three guards now, two coming at Veth with swords, while the third stayed back, a bow drawn and ready.
Veth barely dodged another cut, from a guard, and just managed to turn another thrust. He stepped in to one guard, feinting with a low strike to cut open the guards gut. The guard jumped back, as Veth wanted, and Veth spun back to the other guard, now having more room to his back for the moment. He came in fast, using the fact he was faster to stay ahead of the guards attacks. Then found a opening and quickly brought his sword end across the guards throat, leaving only two more to go.
Veth caught movement from the corner of his eye, and barely was able to move as an arrow screamed by. Veth jumped into a forward roll, trying to cover ground, and get the sword carrying guard between him and the archer, which worked. Next Veth came up inside the guards defense, and slashed at the man's face. The guard quick stepped back, though stumbled over one of the bodies, as he did Veth was on him again, making sure he was dead before he fell to the ground. The last gaurd, the archer, had dropped his bow and brought out a dagger as Veth advanced, but broke and ran before Veth could attack.
Veth didn't care a guard got away, he was actually amazed he had killed three, but it wasn't the guards he was after. Looking to the old man his blood ran cold and hatred showed in his eyes.
"Very impressive Veth." The man looked to the dead bodies, seeming to be completely unconcerned. "So what now? The wronged youngling kills a king and walks away free? If you could even kill me that is."
Veth, tired of this wretch, lunged at the man, who did nothing to stop him. Veth's blade sank into the man's chest where his heart would be, and the man just laughed.
"I must say i didn't expect you to come back so soon, but no matter." The man grabbed Veth by the throat and tossed him back, and to Veth's horror the man pulled the sword, wich was sunk to the hilt, from his chest. Studying the blade for a brief moment the old man laughed and anywhere blood had touched on the sword began to melt. Soon all that was left was hilt scarred from the burning blood. "Assault on a god...With a piece of man made steel... pathetic, you should be grateful i don't end your life here." The old man, claimed as a god, walked slowly to Veth, and picked him up. Placing the hilt in one of Veth's hands. "You shall live a broken life boy" the god then casted a spell, the next thing Veth he was twenty feet above a mountain lake and falling fast. ((More of this to come, hoping to add something every week on mondays))

Woah. Well, you certainly know how to deliver epicness. I'm liking this God thing you've got going on in your stories. It's interesting. And you description of the fight was nice. A lot of times the reader can get lost in a battle scene, the actions becoming convoluted, but you pulled it off well, letting me feel like I was actually there watching this all go down. And you threw in a cliffhanger ending. Nice
Like I said last time, you need to watch your comma usage. This was better on keeping the sentences from getting too long, but you still threw in extra commas where they shouldn't exist. Also, there were a few misspellings and minor things like capitalization that need to be fixed. Just small stuff that's easy to do when typing. If you want, I can go through it later and mark all the more proof-reading stuff so you can see exactly what I'm talking about, but I'm sure if you reread it that you'd see it just fine.
Can't wait for the next installment.

Warning: voilence, little bit of crazy, hateful thoughts ((Had it written up, and really the next part moves on somwehre else so i figured this is a good place to stop. and since im gone for a few days figure post early. Next update in a week.))
Veth managed to get in one quick breath before he hit the glass like surface of the lake. Though the force of the impact drove the air from his lungs. The cold of the water nearly made him involuntarily take a gulp of water in a search for air, he fought back against his bodies instincts though. Moments later, after regaining a little composer, Veth opened his eyes to look at the alien world before him.
He stared to the depths below, just able to see the tops of freshwater vegetation reaching its way from the dark gloom to the reach of light. All around him fish teamed through the water, the crystal clear water letting him make out all the vibrant colors. Then he caught a slight glimpse of the bottom, sloping up. Veth closed his eyes again, the water was cold, but not horribly so. Veth thought of just staying there, drifting off to the darkness, then he suddenly remembered her face, smile, laugh, all the childhood memories growing up together. Veth's eyes opened and he surged back to the surface, his lungs burning for air.
After a quick gulp of the cool fresh air he started to look for the closes bank. On one side of the lake was a giant stone cliff, the other a grassy bank at the edge of a forest. Veth started to swim for shore, hatred burning in his veins, anger in his heart. That man, or god, whatever he was truly was going to pay for what he did, Veth was going to find a way.
Getting to the bank Veth pulled himself out onto dry land, but found himself barely able to do more than that. His body was tired and aching, fatigue, grief, and the adrenaline laving was finally catching him. That could not be allowed to happen though, he forced himself up, first to his knees, then up to a wobbly stand. Veth was not going to let the world catch him, stay ahead of grief, and keep away from his memories. He noticed then that he still held the scarred hilt of his old sword in his right hand. The blade was gone and the remaining hilt looked as though it had been burnt and worn far past it years. Tucking the hilt into his belt Veth figured it would work as a good reminder for the future, that next time he must be more prepared.
Veth then started to remove his soaking clothing and start a small fire. He had no idea the time here since the sun was already below the trees and long shadows were reaching for him. So he decided he would dry off and start out at first light and try to find where he was. As he undressed he set everything out to dry by the fire, coat, shirt, cloak, he kept his pants on. Deciding if this was just a trap and people were looking for him he would rather having something on if he had to run through the woods at night. As he laid out his cloak he noticed a odd lump in it, turning it over and searching the mostly empty pockets he found a small book tucked into one of the many pockets of his cloak. It was bound tightly in a package and somehow had managed to stay dry. Opening the book he found it was completely blank. He didn’t bother worrying about it, as his clothes set out to dry he pulled his single pen, and small vial of ink from another cloak pocket and began to write.
Nothing lucid really, just what his tired mind was trying to make sense of. How he had arrived at the city. What the guards had told him as he was drug off. About how he was framed and sentenced to die. A task set to him to grant his freedom. Betrayal. Then, how he managed to barely escape. He ended with just some notes on what happened, plans for the future. Different methods to try to kill this man, and many other possible ways to wage a war single handily against a god. All in all though it just looked like the scribbles and ranting of a mad man. Though there was no mention of another, no companions just him and the god.
A few hours later Veth's clothes were finally dry. After quickly getting dressed he wrapped himself up in his cloak and laid down to sleep.
The night went on slowly, the soft crackle of a low fire burning. The huddled form of a young man still in his teens trying to ward of the nightly chill as he slept. The quiet noises of a forest full of life surrounding him. A quiet peaceful night, one of the great wonders of the world.
Light slowly began to creep back into the world. Night prowlers were heading off to find a place to rest for the day. Creatures of the light were waking up to go on with there lives. In the lake bugs started to hatch, and fish could be heard jumping. The cold fire ring on a dwindled fire. Then a scream.
Veth woke in a cold sweat, crying, cursing the gods. He had been so tired that sleep came easily though as he regained strength and drifted off to the world of dreams all he saw was Mary, of what had happened. It nearly broke him, but then again its hard to break what is broken to start with. Slowly he stood and started to walk into the forest, not sure where he was going.

WARNING violence, small part crazy, slight drug/alcohol referance
Ok, so i wanted to post this yesterday but kinda forgot. teawked a little, 3rd part of story, update hopefully next monday
Veth walked through the crowded streets of some city in a half daze. He wasn’t sure where he was or really how he managed to get there. His clothes were torn from he trek through the forest, and dark circles hung under his eyes from days without sleep. At the edges of his vision dark shapes had started to form, dark lurking things that hung just out of distinct sight. He continued to tell himself they weren’t real, that his lack of sleep was just making him see things.
Still though the dark things didn’t bother him since they weren’t the things keeping him from sleep. What was really wrong was the dreams, vivid as real life and all of his lost love. Sometimes they were good other times they were darker, more of just memories then dreams.
The city was a tight place, all packed together. The buildings tall an narrow, the roads were winding cobblestone. Through the front gates sat the market square which was full of local farmers selling what they had grown, or just traveling merchants selling their wares. From there the streets became a winding maze, and buildings loomed ominously over all passer bys. Eventually it opened up again as one neared the bridges spanning a rushing river separating the poor from the rich. On the market side though shops were scarce and people lived cramped lives.
Veth wandered down the narrow city streets, trying to weave between the crowds of people passing by. Though he soon found himself in a side alley away from the crowds. Veth slumped down against the cold stone of the building behind him and slowly sank to the ground. He starred up at the sky trying to regain strength to stand back up, tried fighting his closing eyes. Then he blinked, his eyes remained closed a moment longer, then he was asleep, but only for a moment. He woke with a start with a sheen of sweat already starting and his eyes wild. Standing back up he pushed himself away from the wall.
He caught a quick glimpse of a shape right at his side and turned suddenly, but of course it was only empty air. Looking back ahead he was starring right at the bare chest of a jet black figure. It looked human, except the fingers ended in sharp jagged claws. The face was void of everything save for a mouth lined with brilliant white dagger like fangs.
Veth screamed and went to wave his hand in front of him, as if trying to clear smoke from his eyes. Though his hand stopped as it hit the thing before him, the dark shape before him was solid.
In a lightning fast move it lashed out with one of its clawed hands. Veth fell back on pure instinct just get his head below the swipe. Veth scrambled back up and started to run, looking back over his shoulder he now saw two shadowy beasts behind him, and a gouge deep into the stone from the claws of the thing that tried to kill him. Veth ran blindly down the alley, taking twists and turns wherever he could, hoping to get out of sight of the things. Looking back he now saw creatures everywhere. Then pain exploded from the side of his head.
Veth found himself smashed into the side of another building, blood running down the side of his face. A dark figure stood close by, blood dripping from its jet black claws. Veth stood slowly, almost falling from light headiness, but managed to keep his feet. Backing away he kept one hand along the wall to keep his balance. Then he ran into a hard object, he turned just in time to see a toothy black maw launching at his face.
With a scream he startled awake.
He was still sitting at the edge of the busy street in a narrow alley. A few people seemed to stop for a moment and regard him and he wild scream. Mostly though everyone kept on going about there business. Veth again rose to his feet a started on his way, he needed to find something soon or he felt he was going to lose his mind. Then his head started to hurt. Raising his hand up he found a sticky wetness. Without looking at his hand Veth started to shake, adrenaline building. A noise behind him made him spin ready to attack.
A beautiful woman in a black dress stood behind him. She was older perhaps thirties or early forties, but at the same time she seemed old. Time seemed to just not flow right around her. “it’s alright young one, come with me.” Her voice was soft and gentle. At the same time carried a heavy weight of command.
Veth took a single wary step forward. His eyes still were wide, looking for any threat. He didn’t trust this person. Something felt very wrong, but her reassuring smile seemed to make his weariness fade. Before he knew it he was in stride beside this mystery woman, following her through the twisting alleys.
“Who are you?” Veth’s voice sounded strange to him, almost as if he was speaking from far away, as if it wasn’t really himself speaking.
The woman looked back, her smile a little sad now it seemed. “No one you need remember for anything special, just a person looking to heal some of your pain.”
Veth mulled over what the woman said, but his mind was in a daze, and begged for sleep.
They came to a small building, a nice shop bury deep in the alleys, in a place where many alley ways all met at one spot. Inside was what seemed a herb shop.
The inside of the shop was small, lined with shelves covered in plants of every kind. Veth looked around vaguely taking in his surroundings. The woman went about gathering a few things and putting them into a bowl where she started to mix them together. “What are you doing?” Veth’s head still felt fuzzy, and his voice far away.
“Just making something special for you, I don’t like to see pain such as what has happened to you. So I making you something that will help…” She poured the plant mash into a small flask, followed by some foul smelling liquid. Shaking the flask with one hand she brought her other to a small needle. “Don’t be alarmed, but blood is the key for this to work… now tell me, what is it you want?”
Veth could feel his instincts in the back of his head screaming, could tell something was very wrong, this shouldn’t be happening. Yet he couldn’t bring that to action, couldn’t say anything more then…”emptiness”
The woman seemed taken back for a moment, but just gave a smile. She then pricked her finger on the needle, with barely a quarter drop of blood along the needle she picked it up, revealing it’s other end was buried in the stopper for the flask. Setting the stopper in place she gave it a few more shakes and handed it to Veth. “Now drink, just a little, not even enough to properly wet your lips.” She handed Veth the flask, still giving that strange smile.
Veth took the flask and removed the stopper, and starred into the blackness of the flask. Everything said don’t. Everything part of his being screamed warning. Everything he knew said this was wrong.
Veth took a small drink. His throat burned. His vision blurred. His mind emptied.
Veth hit the floor of the small shop. Passed out from sheer exhaustion.

Veth opened his eyes slowly. He was slightly groggy but other then that he felt fine. In fact he felt much better then he had in quite some time. He sat up and glanced around the small room. The walls were all bare wood, as were the floor and ceiling. There was one small window that let in dim light through the wooden slats, a plain door, and then the bed Veth was on.
Veth stood up slowly. He was still dressed in his old traveling clothes, and after a quick check all of his possessions it seemed that everything was where it should be. He was still trying to remember what exactly happened when he ran across a flask tucked into one of the empty pockets of his cloak. He took out the flask starring at it warily, and slowly the events that brought him here started to play back. Bringing his hand to his head it still felt sore, but there was no blood or signs of a wound.
Veth put the flask back and headed to the door, hoping to run into the mystery lady now that his mind was clear again.
Opening the door Veth found himself on the second story of a small pleasant inn. He slowly walked down the stairs, wondering how exactly he had gotten here. The stairs ended at the corner of a small lobby that was filled with an assortment of people. Even a small scattering of Elves and Dwarves mixed into the crowds. This took Veth by surprise, he hadn’t seen any other races in quite a long time. A man behind the inn’s bar motioned Veth to come over, and Veth complied, hoping this man may have some answers for him.
“Good afternoon sir. I hope the room was suitable? It really isn’t meant for paying guests, but it was the only bed left.” The innkeeper had a pleasant tone, and seemed to be endlessly smiling. He was the kind of person that would fit into the general picture of what people thought of when running across the friendly innkeeper of a small humble establishment.
“The bed was fine. Do remember by chance how I got here? Also where is here”
“Of course young sir. You arrived by carriage from the Godlands. This is the Weary Wanderer inn, in the town of convergence. “
Veth thought for a moment, now having even more questions. He arrived in a carriage to a small inn located in a town he had never heard of coming from a place he even knew less about. “I’m sorry but that doesn’t mean very much to me… I’m from a small town at the root of the Renren mountains, can you maybe give me an idea to where I’m at compared to where I’m from?”
The Innkeeper gave Veth a puzzled look for a moment, then pointed to a map hanging above the bar. He motioned to the greater continent, then to the far southeast. “That’s where the mountains you talking of start. I’m not sure where your town is though.” Then he moved his hand towards a large sections of land divided into small slices like a pie, all sharing the same center point. “These are the godlands, where gods rule.” Then he motioned to the Northwest end of the godlands. “You are now in the small town of Convergence, last thing before entering goddess Larina’s land, or the first thing you find when you leave you might say. A long ways to go, even further to for without realizing it.”
Veth starred at the map in awe. He had only ever seen a couple maps of the entire continent, and he never thought he’d make it all the way to the other side. Mary and him traveled for a year from there home hoping to reach the northern ocean, and find passage to the frozen homeland of the Dwarves, but they must have veered to far east and ran of course…
Veth’s mind slowly started to play back through the final days him and Mary shared. He forced the thoughts away though, replacing them instead with plans of how to return, how to exact his revenge. The old man, Trelas, the one he was after must have sent him across most of the Godlands when sending Veth to that lake.
“Sir? Sir are you alright?” From the innkeeper’s tone he had already asked Veth a couple times.
“I’m fine. Was just thinking how a seemingly useful means of travel can be more of a hassle. I think I will be off though.” Veth turned to leave then had a quick thought. “Would you happen to know where there is a library? I have some research I need to do.”
The innkeeper thought for a moment, then seemed to suddenly remember something. “Yes, in fact the main road headed west from town heads down the coast and runs into the port of Ravenlock. Quite the city, I hear there is quite the collection of just about everything there, perhaps you can find what your searching for there? If you are headed that way though you will need some traveling food.”
Veth sighed and turned back to the bar. Fishing out a few coins he dropped them onto the bar “Would this cover enough food to get me there? I don’t plan on stopping to rest much or taking my time.”
The innkeeper scooped up the coins and smiled. “I will also set a meal up for you while you wait for everything to get put together.”
A while later Veth was outside, a full belly, and a new pack slung over his shoulder containing food for his trip, Veth set off down the road. His mind set on his destination and the things he wished to find there. The scarred sword hilt was stuck in his belt, the ever reminder that he needed to be prepared next time.

Has been quite a while since last wrote anyhting... life got hectic, but im hoping to get back into the writing groove again.
Veth walked down the road with his mind bent inwards and searching his soul for the answers he needed to find within himself. He searched for the strength to muster the courage to do what must be done to take his revenge. Anger fueled his ever step, his every breath, and every thought was bent for the one single purpose that kept him from ending it all. His revenge would be glorious sweet. Veth hardly noted the passage of time as he walked down the dirt road. He ate when he awoke, and when he laid down to sleep. Every night before he fell to the sweet bliss of nothingness he would record his thoughts, the days events if he could remember, and any new ideas on how to get to the god again. Then he would take a small drink from his flask and fall to a deep restful sleep. He no longer dreamed of Mary, in fact he no longer dreamed at all. Sleep was just a way to regain strength and pass time to light.
One such night after he had stopped and was preparing to sleep. He opened his flask and dropped the small stopper, he caught it delicately so not to stab himself on the pin. To his surprise though the stopper was just a smooth cork with a metal top. He rolled it over a few times and tried to bring back the memories of the day he met the woman that had brewed this strange drug for him. Though it was hazy and hard to focus on he was sure he remembered a small pin stuck in the stopper. In fact he was sure of it since he had watched her p***k her find on it to add blood to the strange concoction. Veth just shrugged it off thought. He just figured that after he had passed out then she had removed it to stop himself from accidentally sticking himself or something. Taking a small drink he replaced the stopper and laid down to drift off again.
For the next few days that was how time passed for him. Then toward the afternoon of one day he finally came within sight of tall city towers, and he could see the glistening white sails of ships as they came in to harbor. He had finally made it within sight of his destination, after days of travel he was about to get answers to his questions.
Re shouldering his pack of now diminished supplies Veth carried on with more speed. His mind even seemed to pick up the pace with the most current goal of his quest finally in view.
Veth wasn’t fully aware of what he would find when he got into the city itself, but he was hopping it would be an easy process of getting into the library an then finding the books and maps he needed.
As the sun was slowly sinking below the mountains Veth came to the city gates. From far away they looked giant, but up close the were absolutely monstrous. Three wagons could easily pass through side by side, and still leave room for people on foot. Far above Veth could just make out the bottom of the black steel gate. Though outside the tower there didn’t seem to be any way of lowering it, Veth figured the mechanism must be housed within the tower itself.
Walking through the gate and getting into the city gave him more insight into the city. Inside the vast stone walls was easily fifty yards of open ground before any building started, and the walls themselves were covered in stairs ladders, and access for men to man the wall in case of siege. This place was meant to stop attackers, or slaughter any the breached the wall. The buildings were sturdy and spaced apart, making it easy to stop any fires that may start. Veth also noticed how he buildings near the outer edge were low to the ground while the ones further in seemed to get taller.
There was much for the boy of a small rural village to gawk at here, but he had purpose, he couldn’t let small wonders slow him down.
Within the walls walked up to the first guard he found patrolling the city streets. “Excuse me sir.” Veth’s voice came out slightly strained and raspy, and sounded foreign to his own ears. Only then did he realized that he hadn’t spoke in at least a week. His throat was dry as well from the lack of drinking as much as he should.
The guard turned to Veth, smile on his face. Obviously the guards here didn’t mind being bothered by travelers. “Is there something I can help you with?” His voice was cheerful, and he sounded like he genuinely wanted to lend a hand.
“Thank you, I was wondering where I could find the library.”
The guard gave a small laugh and pointed down the main road that cut its way through the center of the city to what seemed to be the city palace. “Straight down the road, can’t miss it since the road ends at its front steps. This must be your first time to the city of Ravenlock then?”
Veth nodded to the guard as he starred down at the massive building, it was perhaps still a mile away but it dwarfed everything else in the city… it could take years to find what he needed. “I’m sorry but I must go, I need to get in as much time as I can there.”
“Good luck.” The guard then continued on his patrol of the city.
Veth started down the road, walking quickly through the crowds of people gathered for what seemed to be the market day of the city. His eyes never left the building ahead though, the knowledge he sought could be right in front of him, there was no time to delay.
