They had met not many moons ago, but both appeared to have the same direction in mind.

~~~~
”Where are you heading?” Arun had asked, his mix-matched eyes gazing into her dark red ones.
“Anywhere.” Ohtli had responded, dreamily.
~~~~

And so anywhere it was. When the two lions had stumbled across the lands that had some kind of unique rock formation, as well as the happy-go-lucky lions frolicking in the lands, an exchanging of glances took place. Both of the felines knew that this was the place. Already Ohtli began purring, seeing just by the horizon a large water hole. Maybe this was the land where her mists would begin talking to her again. In the morning, she would have to check it out.

Arun eyes shifted to all directions. The pride seemed nice enough, but there was no way he would let his defense down. It was always a precaution the male took.

User Image Iraeneus was being lazy again, or rather he often looked like he was being lazy whenever he was all too aware of what was going on around him. This afternoon was of no exception and for all intents and purposes, the large and very fluffy white lion appeared to be resting upon a rock. With his back to the grey surface, his tummy was exposed to the sun's rays and he seemed to be very much content with rubbing his own belly as he savoured the warmth upon his fur. Every now and then the breeze would caress his mane and unsurprisingly he was one of complete and utter comfort and relaxation.

Nevertheless such relaxation was to be short lived as the soft pat of wandering paws caught his attention. The nearer they drew, the more apparent it became that the Pridelands were their target. It was with this in mind that he slowly creaked open his eyes and flicked his head back, draping his neck over the rock so that he might see what was there. Sure enough he was greeted with the upside down vision of two lions, a male and a female respectively. Both foreigners, it was clear that they weren't part of his family of lions but nor did they seem terribly threatening either.

"Good afternoon," he hazarded, his tone wistful as he regarded the two from his albeit peculiar position. "It's been a while since we saw new faces here..."

Arun was the first to acknowledge the male, flashing him a small, if not brief smile. Obviously from his position this wasn’t the sort of pride that pounced on outsiders, or else he and Ohtli would be running away from the lands faster than they could speak. “Good afternoon,” the brown male greeted himself. “We don’t mean to intrude, but on our travels we have heard of a great pride with a unique landmark that reaches towards the sky.” Dual-colored eyes stared past the fluffy white male, right onto Pride Rock. It was hard to miss the fact this was the place other had told him about in the travels. How many other prides had a large rock formation like this? None that Arun knew of, that was for sure. “I can only assume this is the place?” He said when his attention turned back to the male.

He turned his head back to his traveling companion, who was continually staring past the sunbathing lion on the rock, and to the waters in the distance. “I hope you’re there,” she said quietly, finally taking note of the new lion that had been talking. Her head tilted almost to the point where it was upside down as she gave the white lion a strange smile. “You look comfy!” A light giggle emitted from her throat.

Well, the male was much politer than the female and seemed to have a head on his shoulders. It wasn't that the female was rude, but she certainly seemed to be a touch airheaded. Alas, Iraeneus had met a lot of oddballs on his travels and so long as she wasn't going to cause any harm, he wouldn't spurn her. Instead he offered the female a goofy smile and then slowly rolled onto his tummy. He closed his eyes, allowed the blood to rush away from his head and then reopened them with clear vision - dizziness was never a pleasant experience and avoiding it was usually his preference.

"I am comfy," he replied with an ease that could only be afforded by someone who was accustomed to dealing with foreigners. It should have been evident by his demeanour that he was a scout as opposed to a guard, a touch more approachable as it were. Nevertheless, rather than deviate from the male's question, he turned his attention back towards Arun, raised a brow and then glanced over his shoulder towards the rock formation that the brown lion spoke of.

"Well, I can't say I've explored much in the way of the roguelands but that is the oldest recognised landmark," Iraeneus confirmed slowly. He released a small sigh and pursed his lips, returning his gaze to the pair. "You're in the Pridelands, not a very unique name but no one can accuse us of false advertising," he mused in good humour. "Though I must admit that you have my interest piqued - you speak as though you have searched for us for quite some time, one would be so inclined as to ask why?" he continued.

"And you my dear appear to be thirsty," he mused, examining Ohtli more closely.

Ohtli head returned to its normal position as the male twisted to be on his stomach. “Got those little dancers floating across your eyes, don’t ya?” She chuckled. “Always happens to me when I’m upside down too,” her statement was rather absentminded.

A quizzically look emitted from dual colored eyes. Ohtli was certainly one of the…more interesting characters he had ever come across. He turned back towards the fluffy white male who still lounged on his perch. He chuckled lightly at the pride being called “The Pridelands”. Somehow it fit. A bob from the head indicated that his statement had be true.

“Indeed with both have. I come from a pride of warriors. My sister disappeared long ago, and I find that being around lands that held so many awful memories was something that was eating at my soul. My sister…she was the only family I had left.” Arun didn’t elaborate on that. He would if the other asked, but only then.

“And she…well…” He didn’t have a clue how to explain Ohtli’s situation. It was…weird...Especially when she had elaborated just exactly what she was talking about.

Taking in the silence, Ohtli frowned. “I don’t know what happened to my pride. One day it was there, and the next it was gone. My friends all left me...” What really had happened was that the curse of the pride was there one day, and the next it was gone. Surely this could confuse anyone that had been cursed from the time they were born. Her friends were the mists she’d always talk to in the early mornings, right as the sun took its rightful place in the sky.

“To say the least,” Arun jumped in again, “we both are looking for a new home, someplace where we can have new memories formed, and cover the horrid ones from the past.”

“You’re silly, my name isn’t dear! It’s Ohtli!” she giggled. “And yes, a drink does sound wonderful.”

Since Ohtli had introduced herself, it was best that Arun do the same. “I’m Arun.”

"Iraeneus," the lion echoed the introductions provided by the pair of foreign lions and inclined his head in appreciation. He really should have introduced himself to begin with, but Iraeneus had always had quite a novel approach to things - suffice to say that etiquette wasn't always done in the 'right' order. He certainly had manners, he was simply flexible as to what order certain things could be done in... introductions tended to fall into this particular category of 'thing'.

Fortunately for Arun, Iraeneus had no desire to press him for further details. When it came to difficult past it really wasn't the scout's place to inquire unless he perceived the individual to be a threat. Arun had provided the information willingly and as such, the white lion was inclined to accept what he was given, no one could fault Arun for his honesty and well...nor could they fault Ohtli for her's, although it would have been accurate to assume that Iraeneus was of the impression actual lions had left her behind.

"I am sorry to hear about your sister and your friends," he concluded, extending his sympathies towards the pair of them before sucking in a breath and considering what each had said in greater detail. They desired sanctuary and a palce to call home, but did they really fit? What if they had customs and traditions that caused conflict... at present, they may not have been entirely aware as to the ways of the Pridelands.

"Well..." he said finally and shook his head. "If you seek new memories then this is certainly an appropriate place to start," he agreed and offered a wry smile. "But are you certain you will be comfortable here? We may not be able to accomodate what rituals and traditions you were once familiar with..."

“Pleasure to meet you, Iraeneus,” Arun stated, even though Ohtli seemed a little distracted. “Honestly, I don’t know. The way I think about it, is living anywhere new can always prove a challenge. Hearing stories on our travels paints a great picture of this pride, and it feels as if it could be something I could get use to.” Arun could not speak for Ohtli. When it came to accommodating the previous rituals and customs, the brown lion shook his head. “With that…new pride could always mean establishing new traditions. Consider it a start of a brand new life. Right Ohtli?” He grinned, shaking his head with a chuckle when the female did not answer him right away.

There was a slight ‘air-headedness’ about Ohtli. She didn’t pay attention much to what was going around, but whenever she heard her name, her ears perked forward. “Hmm?” She said, glancing between the two males. “Oh…umm…” she really didn’t know how to answer the question. What traditions did her former pride have…other than be given a new name when she was an adult. When the curse had lifted, some of her old memories had faded as well. It would only be a matter of time before all of her previous life memories were gone, including that of her old name. Did this pride have something similar to that. “Will I have to change my name again? I rather do like Ohtli.” She said with a smile.

The female was definitely a bit of an airhead and this hadn't gone unnoticed by the scout. Fortunately, she may have seemed a touch clueless but she also came across as relatively harmless. Iraeneus knew of other females of a similar mindset (although not quite identical) and while they could be exasperating at points, they never deliberately caused harm. Luckily for her, Arun appeared to be providing all the correct responses to Iraeneus's immediate concerns and given that Ohtli was with him, one could assume that he was at least accountable for her.

"That's certainly a positive manner of viewing your state of affairs," the scout replied, offering an agreeable smile and a small nod to indicate that he approved of Arun's views. "If you genuinely believe that you will be comfortable here and have no intentions of harming those in the pride, then I don't see any reason why you can't at least enter and make further inquiries," he continued. "Perhaps once you've spoken to the elders you may know how you wish to proceed and then, I may see you as a brother, no?"

However he did pause to peer at Ohtli in confusion for a few moments, he'd heard that some prides required a 'nickname' of sorts, but he'd never been exposed to one personally... well, not until now at least.

"I uh..." he blinked twice at her question. "No, I believe you can keep the name Ohtli if you want to," he replied and smiled a touch more. "With that all said, I suppose I had best welcome you to the Pridelands. You're free to explore and to drink, as you see fit."

Ohtli was the first to disperse from the group. She wanted to go to that giant water hole, and wait. Wait to see if her ‘friends’ would actually return. She really wouldn’t know until the early hours of the morning, but she would wait around all night for any first glimpse of them. “Bye Arun!” She called out to her traveling partner. “And BYE Fluffy Iraeneus! Hopefully we’ll see you around again!” Who knew? The pride was huge, so there was likelihood of not seeing someone else for a very long time.

Arun watched as Ohtli go, shaking his head with a smile. “I tell you, she really is a hoot to be around.” He chuckled, once she was out of ear’s range. He then focused back on the other male. “I will want to speak with the elders soon. Perhaps you could lead me to them tomorrow?” He had traveled a lot already today, and a nice drink of water and rest did sound good.

He smiled to Iraeneus. “Yes. And I would see you as mine.” Already Arun was the familyness of the pride. He would definitely come to like this place.

Well at least she had said 'fluffy' instead of 'fat' - generally speaking, the descriptors were interchangable and it often depended on gender. Generally speaking he was 'fluffy' to females and cubs, while 'fat' or 'bulky' tended to work around males. Truth be told, he prepared to the term fluffy as it made him sound much more cuddly and he was a cuddly fellow. Nicknamed a 'carebear', it was a seemingly appropriate description in his books! Nevertheless, Arun had asked him a question and after a moment of pursing his lips, he gave a small nod.

"I can see to it that you meet the elders, provided that you haven't found them already," he agreed and offered a wry smile. With a pride as monstrous in size as Iraeneus's was, it might have been difficult to pick them out at a glance. Alternatively, simply asking around would probably be just as quick as being guided - everyone in these lands was typically very approachable.

"But for now I would suggest that you rest, drink and eat, if you've been travelling for some time you're probably in need of it," he concluded and motioned towards the lake with his paw. Apparently, Iraeneus had no intention of leaving his perch and whether this was down to him being lazy, or the fact this was his post, remained to be seen. "I'll pick you up tomorrow morning if need be," he finished and with that, shooed Arun along with his paw so that the male could explore his potential new homeland undeterred.

Satisfied that he had done his work for at least a good eight hours, the white lion then rolled onto his back once more and set about his sunbathing again...
