Forks, Washington

Wade T Cullen is seen as an outsider by all of his class mates at Forks High School, despite the obvious admiring glances from the girls (and a few of the boys). He's quiet, almost brooding. He has his extended family in the Cullens, and now, his true love in Beatrice, a girl who is boring and dull and apparently loves to have a boyfriend who stalks her.

However there is danger afoot. The Cullens have claimed Forks as their territory and would brook no new vampire arrivals.

Cristoff de Lioncourt and his two soul mates, Louis and Claudia, have arrived from New Orleans and have staked their own claims to Forks. Their own vampiric tastes are not as subdued as that of the Cullens, and Christopher is far more different than any vampire Wade has come across.

The hunt is on as Wade seeks to force the new arrival back to New Orleans where he came from. Christopher would rather stay, and has his eyes set firmly on Beatrice.

*It was all about timing, killing this upstart. It had been hard to tear himself away from the homely, yet somehow captivating Beatrice in order to stalk Cristoff, but he managed to focus on his enemy. It really had to be done, damn it. Forks had a hard enough time supporting the Cullens, and by all accounts? He was a glutton . . . a one man extermination squad. His "children" would surely have his "restraint."*

*And so it was that Wade waited outside of the mansion the new arrivals had claimed. He didn't know where they'd gone, but knew they'd have to return before sunrise . . . a limitation he didn't share. If they refused to negotiate? He'd just fight them until his job was done for him!*

The newest vampires to Forks watched the Cullen boy from the nearby trees. Cristoff de Lioncourt had heard of the Cullen boy's story of star crossed lovers that sent teenage girls into hysterics.

It was disgusting. His rock band, The Vampire Cristoff, had titillated young women long before this upstart met Beatrice Swann. Forks was to be a lovely northern retreat for himself and his lover, Louis, along with their "adopted child" Claudia. But the Cullens felt that this was their private playground and little Eddie decided to be their enforcer. He must be taught a harsh lesson. So many preconceived notions floating throughout his sparkly little head.

"Louis," Cristoff smiled as he brushed back a lock of his curly, blond hair. "Why don't you swing by and invite Ms. Swann to join us. Claudia, stay here while I have talk with the lad." Cristoff confidently strode from the trees with a carefree grin on his face.

"Yoohoo...oh, boy!"

*Cullen forced on a smile with great effort. It looked more like a grimace than anything cheerful, but . . . . a lot of his facial expressions were exactly the same. He gathered his self control and used his kindest voice.*

Monsieur de Lioncourt. It pains me to meet you under such strained conditions. And I realize that you have never been one much for authority. Just the same, you have committed quite the faux pas in setting up shop without consulting the local hierarchy. We ARE willling to overlook your blatant disrespect, but . . . . I think it would be better for all of us if you made yourselves scarce . . .

*Cristoff smiled serenely.*

Never one for one for authority? My, my...that is quite the understatement. Do you know what my elders have named me, youngling? 'The Brat Prince.' I DO savor that name...

*His words trailed off as he briefly reminisced about his younger years with Marius, the elder vampire that gave him his favorite nickname.*

Now, youngling, I will tell you what will happen. You and your coven will remove yourself from Forks. My companions and I have been looking for a northern retreat and we've decided this is just the place.

You've got guts, I'll give you that. But you're a fool if you think we're going to leave just because you say so. We didn't leave when the werewolves threatened us, and we're not going to leave because some outdated cliche wants to move his boyfriend and thier adopted b***h in.

We'll kill you, Cristoff. I'll kill you myself, if I think you're so much as GLANCING at Beatrice.

*He hesitated, trying to get his jealousy under control.. He took a deep breath.*

I'm trying to keep this civil, I really am. But you cannot move in here. This town couldn't sustain a bloodthirsty psychopath like you, anyway.

*Cristoff laughed. And laughed. And laughed.*

I have drunk the blood of Akasha, the Queen herself. You and your family are nothing but gnats to be swatted by me and mine.

*The blonde vampire slowly began to walk a circle around Wade.*

Your little troubles with the mongrels of the local Pack were nothing compared to what we can and will do to you. Your family will be destroyed, you will be destroyed, and the pet human you claim to love...

*He tapped a finger against his lip as if in deep thought.*

I will....oh, how did you put it so eloquently? Make her 'my adopted b***h.' Yes, that was it. In fact, Louis is dropping by Miss Swann's right now. Oooo...and that wolf thought he could stop my beautiful Merciful Death. His mistake. Louis is escorting Miss Swann here as we speak.

*Cristoff stopped before Edward and leaned forward.*

So angry but curious too. How can this handsome and well dressed vampire read my thoughts? How can he know what his 'boyfriend' is up too? How do they say it on the Internet these days? The Mind Gift...I has it.

*Cristoff shivered.*

Awful grammar but I do love modern slang.

Yes, yes. You're a pathetic old man who's gotten lucky a few times in his life. A hasbeen who still clings desperately to any sense of relevancew he can get. WE are the future, old man. We don't know any "Queen Akasha."

*Wade hesitated, and he sneered at Cristoff.* And if the rumors are true? Louis hates you, and always has. I suspect he's watching us fight to see which one will win before following your orders. And if he doesn't . . . .

Well. As much as I hate the local mongrels, they DO seem oddly protective of Beatrice. Louis might already be fighting for his life against one of the puppies.

*Cristoff chuckled.*

Rumors...oh, our kind just so love to gossip. And the more gullible of us believe whatever fiction is put out on the market. Despite what you may have heard or read, Louis and I have a fantastic relationship.

*He sighed as if he was so put upon. Mostly because Cristoff did feel that way.*

Authors enjoy embellishing a perfectly good story. But that's in the past. And here's the present. Louis has returned and brought us a guest!

*Louis emerged from the trees with shaking Beatrice Swann. Blood smeared Louis's chin, the only hint of violence on his person.*

Seems that your pet mongrels were no match for my Louis. Now, will you yield? Or shall something nasty happen to your fairly useless lover?

*Wade stiffened with rage when he saw Louis and Beatrice. There was a point at which he had self-control and concept of what he was doing. And trhen there was the red haze that overtook him.

*With undead celerity, he dashed at Louis, screaming with fury, and clawing at the other vampire's throat.*

LET HER GO, YOU BASTARDS! I'LL KILL YOU ALL!

A fog suddenly rolled into Forks and bathed the combatants, all of them, in its icy embrace.

Vision was negated as the fog grew thicker... and colder...

Then as quickly as it appeared, the fog thinned. There came the sound of clicking on the ground around them, and scraping...

Thru the banks of fog there appeared a powerfully built figure. He moved as if he were crafted of stone that was just beginning to loosen. His hair was short and curly, and his body chiseled in lean muscle.

Whoever this figure was, he exuded majestic power.

A child giggled through the fog and soon Cristoff of all present would recognize him... the King of All Vampires... Enkil! That was impossible... Akasha killed him!

Didn't she?

The most powerful of all vampires slowly turned his attention to all present...
