Do not be seen by humans. That's been the law of children of the underfloor. Indenting test. This is only a test, do not be alarmed.
The Borrowers live in this world, hidden beneath floors, inside clocks, and behind the walls. To survive they borrow from the much larger Human Beans. The first law that that you must not be seen, for the consequences can be most dire.
On average, a borrower will grow to four inches. There are some who live their lives outdoors, contending with wild creatures and foraging for their worldly goods. Others live amongst the Human Bean and borrow. The second law is to borrow, never steal. Borrowers are not thieves or vermin. They are quiet, conscientious, and and inconspicuous.
