Overview of fights:
Fighting is a way for Mokai fighters (and their owners) to gain prestige and money.
Only Mokai who are of the fighter subspecies may compete in the arena. Other subspecies are not allowed!
There are two kinds of fights: legal and illegal. Traditionally, the overseers run the legal fights. Illegal fights are run by anyone else, in secret, and are not condoned by officials, nor tallied in your win/loss/tie board. Although the payout is generally better, they are much riskier. Read below for more information.
Your fighting Mokai may challenge one other competitor to a legal fight once a week. The fighting week runs from 12:01 a.m. EST on Monday to 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday. You must have started and completed your fight within this period for it to count as a legitimate fight. You may also challenge one other competitor to an illegal fight once a week.
Please only run one fight at a time! This is to prevent confusion with wounding/statistics. Wait until your first fight of the week is completed before attempting the next. Remember you only get one legal, and one illegal (if you so choose) fight per week with each Mokai.
Mokai may become wounded in fights; only rarely do they become crippled or die (and this is at the discretion of the RPer). If your Mokai becomes wounded, and you would like their image to reflect this, go to Infirmary for more information.
How to set up a fight:
Legal fight: One owner will set up a thread for the challenge in this forum. Please put an (L) somewhere in the title, along with the names of the two Mokai fighting one another, to note that this is a legal fight.
Illegal fight: One owner will set up a thread for the challenge in this forum. Please put an (I) somewhere in the title, along with the names of the two Mokai fighting one another, to note that this is an illegal fight. Once you start an illegal fight, you may not change it to a legal one.
How the fight proceeds:
The fight should be RPed in each post (as short or long as you wish), and each time an individual posts, they should also roll one 10-sided die.
The first and second posts, third and fourth posts, fifth and sixth posts, seventh and eighth posts, and ninth and tenth posts are considered the attack-counterattacks. Your Mokai's stats will depend on how well each of these attacks or counterattacks work.
First and second posts use the attack stat, third and fourth use the defense stat, fifth and sixth use the speed stat, seventh and eighth use the agility stat, and nine and ten use the intelligence stat. Each stat percentage will be multiplied by your roll for that particular post. For example, say that your Mokai has a 4% speed stat, and rolls an 8 for that particular roll. 4 x 8 = 32, so your Mokai has a total of 32 for that particular post. If the second Mokai gets a total number less than 32, the first Mokai wins that attack-counterattack; if the second Mokai gets a total number greater than 32, the second Mokai wins. Once 10 rolls (10 posts total, 5 from each challenger) are finished, the fight has been concluded.
Whoever wins at least 3/5 of the attack-counterattacks wins the overall fight. In the case of a tie, both parties split the first place award.
Fighting Mokai have five stats: attack, defense, speed, agility, and intelligence. These will be displayed on their stall page; untested Mokai start out at 1%.
Wounding: In legal fights, if you roll two 10's, your Mokai has been hit hard and, win or loss, they will be unable to challenge anyone, legally or illegal, in the next week.
Wounding: In illegal fights, if you roll two 9's, a 9 and a 10, or two 10's, your Mokai will be unable to challenge anyone for the next two weeks.
Finalizing the fight:
Fill out the form on the Tally Board to get your Mokai's payout and the corresponding experience points.
Experience points: Once you finish up your fight, your Mokai will gain experience points depending on the numbers you rolled in the fight. You may apply these points to one stat each time you fight.
As your Mokai's stats increase, the number of experience points you win from a fight will drop.
The winner of each legal fight, barring tournaments, will gain $200. The loser of each legal fight will gain $50.
The winner of each illegal fight will gain $300. The loser of each illegal fight will gain nothing.
Special tournaments:
During the weekly fights, your Mokai can challenge anyone they wish. During special tournaments, however, they must fight others in their competition bracket. If there are no other Mokai in the bracket, and you apply with that Mokai, your Mokai wins by default, and gains the experience/money.
Tournaments come with higher payouts and higher experience increases, as well as the opportunity to fight several different Mokai, legally, in the same week.
Training Sessions:
Wounded Mokai can still gain some experience points in the weeks that they're injured, even if they can't win any money. If your Mokai is wounded, you may do a training session with them that should consist of a self-RP that must be at least 1000 words long (or, alternately, a joint RP with someone else that must be at least 1000 words for the individual wanting the experience points).
If your Mokai is not wounded, but has no-one to compete against or you cannot find anyone to RP a fight with during the week, you may complete a training session in place of a fight.
Somewhere in that thread, roll one 10-sided die. Post in the Tally Board a link to your training session and which stat you want experience points to be applied to. Based on the roll and a pre-calculated formula that will take into account how high your Mokai's current stat percentage is (remember, the higher your percentages are, the more difficult it will be to gain experience points), the Mokai will have a number of experience points applied to that stat.
Adolescent Mokai can also do training sessions, for half the experience points of an adult. Adolescent Mokai may not participate in regular fights until they are adult.
