History: The history of this cult is largely lost to time and fact that the Cult itself no longer cares. What little historical records there are about the cult are usually left well enough alone out of superstitious fears and God-fearing retribution from either higher powers or flesh and blood. During the zealous campaign from the Various monks and sages that opposed this cult at its very core and founding principles, most of the written works and testaments have been cleansed with fire or put to death because of the fear of their blasphemy spreading to the newer, more civilized worlds. Feudal lords are watched carefully to make sure that corruption of the Unnamed One stays away. What little is gathered from various scrolls suggests that there was once a monk who fell into perversion and Hedonism when his wife and child were murdered at the hands of a feudal lord. It was said that his twisted soul called to Jashin, who nurtured the bitterness in the monks heart and spoke words of this law, promising him the revenge that he sought if only he would spread His demands to the world, so that He could ‘help’ the mortals of this world cleanse sin from this land. The Monk, not being entirely stupid didn’t take up the offer right away, but the promise of power and revenge ended up bringing the ex-monk into the Void Gods vile embrace. Secretly, the monk began to corrupt his brothers, whispering the words that were whispered into his ear by Jashin himself. One by one the Dark God preyed upon the monks and priestess of the temple, using their vices and pride against them to pervert and twist their views of the world to his liking. Those who were resistant to the words of Jashin were murdered to prevent the cult from being exposed too soon. By the end of the six months, the remaining monks of the temple had been bastardised and corrupted into Zealots of the Void King. They practiced with bitter malice the use of weapons and armour. They crafted their own blades with cruel barbs and cleft blades to make whatever wounds they inflicted to be more brutal and painful that necessary. The monks worked in secret and recruited those who were willing and able, though most of their ranks consisted of bitter war veterans, thugs and bandits. During this era Jashin was depicted solely as a warrior god, so anything less need not apply. The original monk whom Jashin corrupted renounced his name that has been sense purged from records and history books and took up the title ‘Hu’an of the Blackheart’. He was the undisputed voice of Jashin, and Jashin was initially generous with his follower. In little time at all he had all but amassed a small army of people who held bitterness in their souls, those souls who were too proud to have been shamed the way they had. Underground, hundreds flocked to his banner and pledged their loyalty to Jashin of the Wicked heart. For years they lay in wait, listening for the word of their God to send them to war in the most brutal way possible.
Their prayers were answered no more than a month later when a head Monk came to visit the temple on a pilgrimage with a small entourage of fellow monks of lesser experience. It was with man that Jashinism first gained recognition at last, but not because he survived his encounter with them. The Jashinist unleashed their fury on the Elder Monk, caught with such unexpected ferocity from a former peaceful temple there was no escape for them. The group sacrificed the younger monks to Jashin and nailed the Elder to a Banner that would serve both as a mute testament to the cruelty of the cult itself and as the official war banner of the Jashins. Burning their temple to the ground so that they had no place to retreat to, the small army marched towards the Feudal lords palace where they fully intended to burn, crush and kill everyone that obeyed him, if nothing else to satisfy their own rage and feelings of oppression that they suffered. Their campaign lasted 6 months, nothing was left in their wake spare the burnt fields, sacrificed bodies of those who refused to submit to their new God. It was recorded by one of the Lords generals that ‘they marched into war, chanting their blasphemous litanies of hate and murder’ and ‘that every one that fell to our weapons died with a beatific smile upon their faces.’ All manner of tactic and codes of warfare were spat on by the Warrior Cult as they readily used women and children from previous attacks as human shields. The Lords armies were gradually pushed back till they came to the palace itself, the small army had swollen with supporters, many of which had their lands abandoned because of the Lords attacks or had their limited food stuffs taken for the war effort. During this period, Monks under the study of the Sage of Six Paths heard of this threat and one of their best was sent to help the Lord in his time of need, they wanted peace, and knew that the Jashin cult would only spread more war, thus, something had to be done to stop this threat, so a small group was sent over to the Lords palace where the Sage of Six Paths predicted that they would strike next. Though it was only a small group, consisting of maybe a dozen Shinobi sect members arrived and offered their services. They had come just in time as well, the Jashin Cult was approaching their front door and the bloodthirsty howls and war cries were beginning to echo through the lords palace.
It was here that the Small army battled what was left of the Feudal lords troops. The conflict was violent and gory and it is said that wars fought between brothers are far more violent and destructive than those fought against strangers and this conflict was very much proof of that concept. Hu’an fought his way up to the palace itself where he met the Halberd of the Sage of Six Paths in one and one conflict, their battle was so intense that the whole battle field paused to witness this spectacle that they would likely never see again in their life time. Scholars later wrote it as though it was a clash of God, it was said that the ground itself shook with each blow given and blocked, they were locked in such bitter combat that the both of them took blows that would fell any other but continued to clash. Hu’an fought with the bitterness and hatred of one possessed, but the nameless disciple was schooled by the Sage of Six Paths in the art of ninjutsu and chakra moulding. When Hu’an of the Blackheart was finally struck down, his hatred for the Feudal Lord allowed him one final act of defiance. Launching his cleft great spear at the balcony of the Lord, with a curse so black that those who heard its words went insane, the vile weapon pierced the lords chest, an act surely Jashin himself was responsible for. Though the war was won, it came at a high price, and what was left of Hu’an’s followers carried his body away and later tore it to pieces so that each of his loyalist followers and favoured of Jashin could have a piece of the remains of the first man reported to have ascended to the rank of Scion. It is said that these remains have been hidden away and that the various Sects of Jashin constantly look for these Holy relics, it was said that those who possessed them all would be undefeatable, for Hu’an himself would teach the individual the curse that allowed him to obtain his goal.
The Jashins were hunted down after that, those who survived agreed to break into smaller cabals and then sects to avoid being hunted down and wiped out all together. Better that the weak perish so that the strong survive rather than have the whole herd brought down because of someone’s foolish arrogance. Throughout the centuries sense the defeat of Hu’an the cult has constantly been on the run, careful to cover their tracks and keep a low profile while they work behind the scenes and corrupt from within those places of power. They are biding their time and waiting for Jashin to send his next chosen so that they can once more plunge this world into endless conflict so they can satiate their gods endless hunger for violence and cripple his Goddess rival. It has only been recently that they have allow ninja within the ranks of their cult, and perhaps that is why the cult itself is starting to grow more brazen and bold. The current council seems to see the signs of greater times for the followers of Jashin approaching, perhaps it is time that they will rise up and get their revenge on behalf of their fallen Scion Hu’an, or perhaps it is just the beginning of a new era where everyone Jashin’s vision comes to fruition.
Cult structure: Because of these acts and the ever vigilant Monks and Priests of stronger rival religions the cult has been forced to go underground until most recently when they suddenly started to get more and more bold. It is rumoured that this is because of the recruitment of Ninja and other ne’er-do-wells that the Cult has recently opened it’s doors too. The objectives of the Cult and it’s followers largely depends on the Wills of the ‘Dread Council’, a gathering of 13 of the most black hearted, vile and debased men that have served under the Wicked One for countless years, and some even say countless centuries. To make sure that rivalries produce the proper conflict, each of these council members is in direct control of a Sect, each Sect has it’s own protocols, observations and practices regarding the verbal teachings of those who swear loyalty only to the High Handed Slayer Himself. Thankfully for the more civilized, these Sects are just as much at odds with each other as they are with the None believers. Rivalries are as complex and varied as those who manage them. It is whispered that the Dread Council has a heavy hand in these rivalries as many members purposefully try to undermine each other in turn for more favouring with Jashin, Jashin, in turn, likely cares little… after all, he cares not whose blood flows, all that matters is that it does.
Sects can combine into Cabals if two of more sects become one. This is done either by elimination of the head of the rival sect or by putting aside differences in favour of a much larger scheme that a single sect couldn’t do on its own. Usually these are rare, as not many of the members actually like being ordered around by their often heavy handed Apostles. Once the objectives are done, the Cabals usually tears itself apart and reverts back to two or more Sects that are once more at each others throats. Treachery and Politics are not shunned in Jashinism, in fact, it is openly encouraged for each of these ensures that conflict nestles into the hearts of those who are apart of the cult, and with that conflict breeds greed and power-lust, tools that ensure the hearts of Cult members stay wicked and bitter. Of course, there are those who are loyal to those who rule over them and that is not discouraged either, for with favouritism comes jealousy and that too, corrupts the heart. If those Sects rise to great power, their leaders will attract more and more followers, and the more followers that rests within the Sect itself the more sway and power the Leaders themselves become. The more that these leaders are noticed the more notice by the Council they become, and with the Councils gaze, comes great power… for a great price. At this point in the ascension of the Leaders of these Sects and Cabals must be careful, for the Council members that rule over them may become rather anxious at their growing favour, and they may find themselves replaced by those they sought to rule over. It is a complicated and dangerous game that could result in some of the greatest blessings of Jashin that a mortal has ever known, or the entire extinction of the Sect or Cabal itself. However… there are no true allies within the Dread Council, and those Aspiring Leaders may just find themselves in a secret league with other Council members as they seek to use the Aspiring leader to topple those who rival them. When you’re an Aspiring Champion of the Wicked One, you learn quickly to be Paranoid… it is a survival instinct that could save ones own wretched hide.
