I only really like manga that comes straight from japan. I think the artwork by american or chinese manga-kas is good, but not as 'authentic' and not as professional like how the japanese masters do it. Some of the amateur stuff that's published by Tokyopop truly sucks a**. mad

JhonnyRaincloud I have the Cantonese version episodes of HikaruNoGo, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Rockman.exe.
I've also seen the Manderin version of Shaman King! Also, my grandma's friend who lives in Chinatown owns a Chinese Manga rent store thingy! =D Real neat.
Yesasia.com is a site where you buy lots of Asian and American stuff. Real neat. I got the Rockman.exe episode there. I don't know if you've heard of it or not tho. ...HEY EVY -^.^-

Clamp ish Tosh's favourite manga-ka by far. ^^ I'm just picking one from random here so... Bizenghast by M. Alice LeGrow. I find the artwork in these western mangas is just not as good as japanese manga. The layout isn't as good either and it looks like they're just imitating the manga style... um, not very well. And I'm not saying Tokyopop is a bad publisher, I really like some of their manga such as GTO and Getbackers. It's just that they seem to publish an awful lot of tripe these days, which just pales in comparison to japanese manga. I've got nothing against Clamp, they're a very good japanese manga ka group. Japanese see? wink

Me love Takaya-sensei's pictures and style. 3nodding And I don't mind Clamp, Viz or TokyoPop, though I'm much more familiar with the last two...

Tokioka I've got nothing against Clamp, they're a very good japanese manga ka group. Japanese see? wink Aye, I was just stating I liked clamp. o_< Hm.. I don't think I've ever read any Tokyopop mangas... But Viz ish good, most of my manga ish Viz.
Furuba rules~! I dunno, sometimes the pictures look odd, like when people cry, but other times it's great. Like how she captured Haru's smexiness.

Like how she captured Haru's smexiness. i've mainly been reading viz and cmx. tokyopop is er... not... as... er... up there lol. But i think tokyo pop mainly publishes the gothic stuff... seriously don't like those stories... hmm... i was thinking... well i just thought of it... in my school all the anime people who read tokyo pop are the goth type people, who can't function very well in the outside world and thinks that they're reading manga is sort of like listening to under ground rock. okay so i'm exaggerating a little. But anyways, i don't like the people who read tokyo pop that much. I just realized that. They really annoy me. It makes me think that their anime and manga knowledge doesn't go past Tokyo pop. Personally i think tokyo pop is like beginner manga. Their stories are okay, a lot are serious... they're stories for people who like to cosplay and live in a world where it's dark and dreary fighting monsters blah blah blah... And the people who read it... i don't know why but they just annoy me... I on the other hand have gone off to read shoujo manga. why? because I'm bored. lol. But shoujo manga is really funny. it really is... well to me anyways. Some times the story seems repetetive but they're just so funny... i'm easily entertained by the funny... I don't like Tokyo pop very much... i think it's got something to do with the toning and the shading... It's pretty heavy...

Great Teacher Onizuka is published by Tokyopop but isn't gothic at all. It's the funniest manga I've ever read and the story is really good. I admit that a lot of the tokyopop is gothic and kinda freaky sweatdrop , but some of it is completely different. That toning and shading thing is an issue sometimes but usually only occurs in the gothic stuff, the rest is fairly normal manga style. In britain Tokyopop is like the driving force behind manga at the moment, which really annoys me. If you manage to find manga in bookshops then it's likely to be tokyopop, which doesn't really have the best selection available. There is only one shop in the town I live in which stocks manga other than tokyopop, which is better than nothing but.... damn tokyopop! stressed
