Roy tipped the kettle, tip to cup rim as water filled the cup. The kettle emptied it's insides into Valka's cup. After replacing the kattle upon the stove top, left to be rinsed later, he nodded as Valka agreed to send letters. At least it would be a nice excuse to take a well deserved break from the endless work. Winter and careless patrons served to be a difficulty in the winter. With cold metal keys, they snapped easily inside the lock, trapping the patron with but cold and discomfort.

"So very true." He replied to Valka's sweeping statement. Although a clean workshop was a welcoming one, cleaning up for the night was always the hardest. Plus for safety reasons, things left on the floor should be cleared. A trip and a piece of hot metal anywhere would have been immensely painful. "That is also true." It would have been better to be scolded by the master than to ruin a customer's sword; the one reliability in times of war.

"When does your master require you to return? You are welcome to stay, but your journey back may be difficult." Roy wasn't trying to chase out the poor boy, but he did not want to obstruct anything that Valka might have to do next. As well, after dark was not a safe time to be sending young lads off in the cold. Strangers or maybe wolves might find themselves in for a treat, seeing such a young boy travel alone. Neither did he want to have to escort the boy home nor did he want the smith master upset with the decisions made this night.

Heat from the tea flooded out of the cup and into Valka's gloved hands. Almost as quickly as it had come, the warmth began to leave the cup, and in moments, it had cooled from hot to warm. The mist curled slower from the liquid.

"I guess he expects my return promptly, sir," the boy replied, taking his gaze off of the tea to glance out the window. There was little information to be gleaned from the outside world. With the sun so well hidden in the smog of the city, there would be no telling time by it until night was upon them and the sun disappeared altogether. Judging by how long he had been here, Valka imagined night wasn't too far off either.

Downing the now-warm tea in several long swallows, he rose from his perch on the edge of the stool and placed the cup down next to the empty kettle. "I should be making my way back, I suppose, sir, if you'll excuse me." He glanced out the window again. Rattling up from down the street was a carriage drawn by a muddied gray horse. Valka moved toward the door. "Can't thank you enough for your hospitality, sir," he added eagerly, remember that the locksmith had given him a shilling as well as tea. If only more deliveries wound up like this one.

Little could be said about the sky. It was temperamental at times. The smog above London did not help even a speck. Night crept up without any warning whatsoever even though so many people relied on it for light during the day. "He would surely be worried." Roy added, more to himself than to Valka. He couldn't speak for the master, but surely anyone would be worried if their apprentice was out longer than expected even in fair weather.

"Would you mind if i escorted you part ways back?" He offered, even if he could not make the whole journey, the least he could do was to know that Valka was at least part way home. It was also just common courtesy and put his heart at rest. He started to tighted his tie as Valka began to head to the door. Not looking prim and proper would only harm him in the long run anyways. "On the contrary, thank you for delighting the midday." Roy attempted to give a smile. Not the most fitting of expressions for him. "It was quite the pleasure." He added.

Worried wasn't the least of it. Ever since Valka's mother had passed away over a year ago, the blacksmith had taken to keeping an extra eye on his young apprentice. It was both in the boy's interest and the blacksmith's own, as it would no doubt have taken time and effort to train a new apprentice, should anything happen to Valka. But his master knew that the boy's landlady was not the most approving of immigrants, and that he was largely discouraged from returning home until nightfall made it absolutely necessary, so the blacksmith made sure to keep a tab on the boy until he could make his way home to his father.

Valka took another glance out of the window as the carriage rolled leisurely by. He shook his head hastily, regretting that the cab hadn't come sooner, before the locksmith had begun to ready himself for an outing. "No need, sir, cab's right outside. Thank you sir, good-bye, sir, I'll ask my master to send for you, sir."

The word tumbled out of his mouth, and almost as fast as they had come, he had leaped for the door and pulled it open. "The tea was wonderful, sir," he added with a fleeting smile, and then he was out the door and running down the street, cap in hand and waving frantically for the cabdriver's attention.
