Seems like its only in Canada, but it is a start. Hope they do it here in the US too. The closest store that sells my brand of fish food (New Life Spectrum) is PetLand, at $6 a can, and a 5 minute drive. The only other store in the are is a local store, 15 minutes away, and $14 a can -_- I'll have to wait till I go back home over the holidays to buy my food from PetCo, who isnt all that great near my house, but at least they dont sell mill puppies!

Excellent news! I REALLY hope they push for all Petland stores. As you can tell by my profile, I'm not a fan of mills either haha.

The one by me keeps mice and dwarf hamsters in the same cage. When I reported them to my local humane enforcement officer she told me that since they weren't USDA (hamsters are USDA too) that she couldn't do anything about possible injuries, only if there was evidence of injuries.

I don't think we have pet stores here in Holland that sell pets like cats and dogs.
The only animals they sell are birds, and rodents like rabbits, hamster, guinea pig, etc. Oh and fish.

Personally, I won't believe it till I see it, because it's something I've heard 'rumors' of in the past, as well.
Even if they go through with it, they still plan to sell older dogs and cats (they have a program where you can surrender your pet to them, rather than a shelter, to avoid being put on the 'shelter blacklist' [because if you surrender to a shelter it goes on file and can affect you adopting from a shelter in the future]). It's a good program, but it does still have flaws; I'd personally rather they basically just 'showcase' animals from the shelter, so in order to adopt you still have to go to the shelter, in order to further decrease the number of 'impulse buys' of dogs and cats.
