For the record, I was being a little facetious. ;D
I never said I thought everyone should take that risk. People still have the individual right to NOT come out to anyone, even in the GSA, to avoid conflict. But if someone wants to come out, and understands the risks, that should be their choice. How's the school going to prevent anyone from saying, "I'm gay," or "I'm bi," or "I'm trans," anyway? And what's the punishment for coming out, exactly? >_>
It's a stupid, unenforceable rule that helps nothing. It does not guarantee safety, and it could well turn the administrations' heads away from actual problems now that they feel like they've taken some kind of preventative measure.

THAT IS SOME SERIOUSLY FRACKED-UP SHIZ. Naw, really. You gotta do something about that.
Even if you're not allowed to admit your sexuality, I say you should do it anyway- because, frankly, who the heck is gonna stop you? You and those other guys should show the freakin' administration a thing or two and have a, well, 'miniature' revolt against the rules. Show 'em how proud you are ^-^

Get a petition against that. It's wrong. And I think it's illegal too (discrimination against people of certain sexual orientation). Freedom of speech, right?

Hm... I just realized something. I was in my school's GSA from grade 8, through to grade 12, and yet I never once told anyone that I was straight. I doubt I would've been treated differently, but it just surprised me to learn that. In my opinion, if you're all for the same cause, not everyone has to know what your orientation is. I can understand the school not wanting people in the club to tell others about eachother's orientation, but not allowing the discussion of it in a person sense in general? That doesn't seem very fair. If your 'freedom of speech' is taken away from you, use it against whoever tried to take it.

I knw that this has nothing to do with GSA's but as a figure skater, you're not allowed to admit your gay. If you do then your career is over as you know it.

What's the club advisor doing during all of this? Your school sucks.

My highschools' GSA members won't allow negative people to stay in the club, If they feel like someone is attending the group for the wrong reasons, they wont allow you to attend another meeting. At the meeting we are all very very open. I was a little nervous about going to the first meeting, but i'm so glad I did, Thats the one place I don't have to hide anything.

I think it's a shame. I don't know why it's such a bad thing to admit that you're gay, bi, or trans. If someone told another person they're straight, they wouldn't care. But if you come out as gay?
Little known fact: If you go on any major search engine and type in "gay" with a space, no suggested results will come up. But if you type "straight" everything''s fine. It sucks.
