"I'm more then a number,
More then a pretty face,
And surely,
More then you can handle."

Adrian still hadn't gained control of herself yet. She still felt every bit, n**, and scratch. Heard every growl the frightening beastly dogs had offered. She wasn't sure that she was safe yet. Oh no. She might have just woken to another place that the horrid master had placed her while she was forced to see and feels something else. She made a sound much like the offspring of a moan and a whimper. This couldn't be real. She couldn't go back. No. Not to that crazy man. not to his torture chamber of a house. not with his crazy mind and all the things he could do without physical exertion. He couldn't be present, in charge of her emotions with Nate. No. Those were real. her love for Nate was her own. It wasn't an invention. Her old master wasn't capable of understanding that type of emotion. Besides, Adrian loved Nate. She knew that. Nate loved her as well. She knew that for certain. This wasn't another make believe game. Nate would never hurt her. He had told her that. promised her that. She could even swear, as she thought of it, that she heard Nate speaking to her. Her eyes, vacant, searching, for the source of that voice. She struggled with her grip on reality, unsure if she was still dreaming or if she was indeed awake at this point. If she only saw Nate's face, his lips forming words, it would contain all the horror and she'd be able to lock it back away inside of her.She would be safe. Her old master wouldn't find her. Nate would keep her safe.

When someone took hold of her face, forcing her to focus, Adrian shuddered, giving a whimpering whine. Her eyes watered as she focused on the face that was staring back at her. She didn't want t find that it was the horrible man who had kept her in his home, fed her live to his beasts, and drank from her open wounds, all the while, making her believe that she was in such euphoria with her offering, that she never knew what had occurred until after the torment was on. or, he'd flash little glimpses, so she knew that she was suffering, but she was forced to like it. Believe that it was good for her. no. She would not go back to that. Instead, she found Nate's face looking back at her. her eyes widened in surprise, and then pour fresh tears as she started to sob audibly. She threw her arms tightly around Nate's neck, knowing it would be well on it's way to suffocating a normal human male. She buried her face in his neck, desperate to have some kind of hold upon this man who was keeping her safe from her torment. She was terrified that she would be forced back to the man who had kept her before Nate. no. She didn't want to go back. She wasn't going to let go of Nate. He was real, and he was here. if she let go, he would shatter to millions of pieces and never return to her.

She trembled against him as he told her she would have to calm down. that all would be okay. She held tighter. She wouldn't let Nate pry her from his form. She couldn't be parted form him. No. She was far too afraid of such. There was a kiss placed to her forehead, but Adrian wasn't aware of how Nate hand managed to pull her away from his neck to do so. He picked her up then, and she curled into his arms, still not releasing his neck. She was trembling as he held her, still sobbing uncontrollably. She was hyperventilating as well, but with all the other things going on, it wasn't something the female registered as clearly as other things. There was some kind of movement being enacted by Nate now, as if he were rocking her. The sobbing started to cease first. Then gradually, the tears stopped, but she still trembled, and did not dare release Nate, even as he continued promising her that no harm would come to her. She didn't dare open her eyes in case this was all a dream, and vicious dogs were waiting for her on the other side of her eyelids. Waiting for the command to kill. To strip her flesh from her bones and devour it into their own stomachs.

When her breathing had finally stilled into something that wasn't irregular and panicked, she dared to open her eyes. Nate was looking down at her, his own eyes were wide with worry. He cupped her cheek. She watched his movements deliberately, so that she could convince herself that Nate was the one touching her. he was asking her if she was okay, that she'd worried him. Her eyes went vacant, as she picked her mind to find the answer to his question. Was she truly okay? She didn't know. She wasn't sure what reality was, and what was a dream. She wasn't sure if she was in danger, or if she was safe. She stared at him with unfocused eyes, trying to decide what to tell him. His thumb gently stroked against her cheek. With a trembling hand, she removed her hand from it's grip at his neck, and took the hand that was stroking his cheek. It would give her strength, holding his hand, being present with him. Nate was taking to her again. Telling her that he slept this way, screaming her name when he awoke because he could only remember the bad things that he had done to her.

She shook her head. He didn't understand. The shake was slow, her eyes still not completely focused upon the male that held her. he placed another kiss to her forehead. Nate wasn't going to make her talk about her dream. She nodded. It was painful. It downright made her terrified. He promised to destroy whoever had caused her this pain. her eyes widened, and she paled all over again at this promise. "No!" It was like a squeak. It was so high pitched. "No!! Don't go there! Don't! you can't win. it's not strength. No! Don't go. Don't go. Don't go.No!" She shook her head, nearly converging to hysterics again. She heard Nate explain about weres mating. That they gave their lives for their mates. That they mated for life and usually did not take another after the death of their first. Even Sire Thames had not taken another mate. Adrian didn't care. She was determined to keep Nate away from a fight that he couldn't' win. he went as far to admit that she was the only one that he could ever mate. She let tears roll down her face at this. She wasn't much in control of her emotions anymore. That wasn't her fault. She was just a mess. She still had Nate's hand, and she squeezed it harder, if it was even possible for her to do such.

When Nate said that they would have to go home, she looked to him. He said he'd have to change and that she'd have to ride on his back. She stiffened, and shot up form his hold and shook her head. No. She couldn't do that. They would have been able to stay if there was food, but there was not. He'd already told her that. She watched him carefully, trying not to show her fear, even though the shaking had resumed. Nate asked once more if she was ready to go home, and then told her that he'd be waiting for her outside. he left and shifted. She heard it. She tiptoed to the window, and peeked outside and shook her head, and shrunk down until she was sitting on the floor under the sill. She moaned gently, and called to Nate outside. "Change back! We'll walk! Change Back! Change Back!" She covered her eyes, pulling in on herself. She couldn't look at him shifted. It was too raw. She rubbed at her arms, which prickled with the remembrance of pain form her dream. She closed her eyes and shook her head, waiting for Nate to alert her that he had indeed shifted back. She wouldn't have been able to handle it otherwise. She was too broken at the moment.

The werewolf wasn't sure what brought on the tears and the screams, but Nate knew that she had to be afraid of something. Maybe even someone? That thought caused him to shiver as he pulled Adrian to him. It was like she was refusing to wake up, and Nate really wasn't sure how to make her really wake up. So the wolf held her close, rocking her body, placing kissed to the top of her head. After a whole, the woman had finally calmed down, causing Nate to let out a sigh of relief. Releasing her death grip around his neck, the man cupped her cheek as worried green eyes searched her tear stained face. "You had me worried." Giving her an unsure smile, Nate continued to hold her close. A chuckle escaped him as she grabbed his hand, and his fingers tightened around her in response. Then he spoke about random things, but he caused her to freak out again. Why couldn't he go and kill them? Since they hurt her they deserved to die, so why wouldn't she let him go? Huffing a bit of air, Nate placed a kiss to her forehead. "Fine I won't go. I'll be a good boy and obey your wish, but please calm down. I don't like to see you so upset.."

A soft whine escaped his lips as if to prove that very point. Nate wished he could hunt down the b*****d that had scared her like this, but he wasn't anywhere near ready to leave Adrian again. He had just got her back. Sighing and looking out the window, he knew they that had to leave. She had to be hungry and Nate knew for a fact that he was. Which really didn't surprise him. He usually stayed hungry and could often be found snacking through the day, Prying her away from him, Nate stood up and explained everything. "I'll be outside waiting." Giving her a hopeful smile, Nate walked outside and rolled his shoulders. Normally shifting didn't bother him, but where he had remained as a wolf doe so long... Letting out a sigh, the man let the change wash over him. Bones snapped and cracked out and back into places. That was always the worse part of it. That feeling of being broken in half and quickly shoved back together again. Shaking his fur out and stretching his legs out in front of him, Nate jumped when Adrian started screaming at him again. Change back? Really? He was tempted to just stay in his current form, but the distress in her voice caused him to shift back.

Gasping as his shoulder popped back into place, Nate grabbed his pants and pulled them on again. "Alright! Just climb on my back and I'll walk us down. Make sure you hold on though." In all honesty, Nate didn't want to walk back down the muddy path, but he really didn't have much of a choice. Helping Adrian on his back, Nate walked over to the trail and sighed. This was going to suck. As long as he didn't lose his footing, he should be okay but Nate wasn't excited. As he walked down, he remained silent. He really didn't know what to say to her, and he was concentrating on not busting his a**. After a while though, he couldn't stand the silence anymore. "Do you want to talk about your dream? Dad says it's better to talk about it rather than keep it bottled up." The werewolf wasn't going to lie... He was curious. Very much so. What kind of dream did she have that made her so scared? Or was it a past memory? "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to, but the offer is on the table." After five minutes, the two had made it back to the car. Letting out a sigh of relief, Nate carefully sate Adrian down and opened the door for her. Now all they had to do was get back to the apartment.

After his distraught but lovely companion was settled in, Nate rounded to the other side and climbed in. Once he was settled, the man started the car and then the drive back home. The ride was silent as was the short trip up to the apartment,. Once inside though, Nate threw the keys onto the kitchen counter and smiled over at Adrian. "Why don't you go take a bath? I'll fix dinner while you relax." Winking at her, Nate moved to start dinner. Maybe after a nice bath and a hot meal she would feel better? Letting out a sigh, Nate could only hope so..

"I'm more then a number,
More then a pretty face,
And surely,
More then you can handle."

Nate was waiting for her outside. he'd just shifted, and she'd gone to pieces. She still didn't have control. She couldn't see Nate as a wolf. She couldn't handle it. Her thoughts went to the dogs eating her flesh, peeling back skin, letting the air reek with blood. She covered her eyes and cringed. If there was anyone in the world she trusted, it was Nate, even with their most recent fallout and issues. She loved Lina, as she should a sister, but Adrain couldn't bring herself to fully trust the dark haired mother. No. Adrian could only bring herself to fully trust Nate with things like her life. he'd gone as far to threaten to go after the man haunting her dreams, but he'd listened to her when she begged him not to go. It would be terrible. He couldn't win. Nate would go through torture, and find himself at death's gate. There would be no mercy for the new male who had taken her. Oh no, she was surprised the vampire hadn't come after her. She'd escaped by only a thread of time. She'd run, and she knew he'd sent at least something after her, but could it be that he was finally catching up? That was the part that made her cringe. She didn't want to go back to that man. She couldn't' go back to him. He'd kill her, slowly as he could. Drive her insane with his mind games and abilities, and then, when she'd broken, and could provide him no more entertainment, he'd kill her. Slaughter her, drink her blood, and leave her bones to rot on the rocks outside of his domain. He skin would blistered and bloat with the suns rays until she was no more. Her odor would be foul, disgusting. She'd rot with no one to mourn her.

She bit her lip so hard it bled. When Nate spoke to her, telling her just to climb on his back, she walked absentmindedly to him. She wasn't sure if she should cling to him. She licked away the spot of blood on her lip, and shaking, climbed onto the mans back. She closed her eyes, breathing in his scent gently, clutching to him as if he were the only thing keeping her in the world. She didn't open her eyes. She didn't say a word, she simply felt Nate hold her and start moving painstakingly down the hill. She knew it wasn't how he had wanted to go. It seemed quite difficult for him to walk in such a fashion, but she made no move to apologize. She was not sorry she had subjected him to this form to carry her. She didn't care. She was glad she was closer to his body. His human form, that way there was no separation of skin to skin. No fur to disrupt the stinky way they melded together seamlessly. Her hair blew gently in the slight breeze, and every time it drifted over her shoulder, she would grip tighter, afraid to open her eyes and find a hand touching her. She knew the idea was ridiculous, that Nate wouldn't let anything creep up on them, but she couldn't help herself, even as she tried to fight off this loathed vulnerability.

When Nate asked if she wanted to talk about her dream, she wasn't sure. She wanted to explain, so Nate wouldn't be angry with her. All her actions would probably seem irrational to him without the explanation of what she'd dreamed. At the same time, she didn't want to share her hardships with him. He might think her a coward, which she was not. He mentioned that his father though it bad to keep things bottled up. Adrian peeked through her lashes to see the surrounding world. If Sire Thames had said something, he was probably right. She opened her eyes a little more, allowing herself a view as they moved down the hill and back towards the car. Did she want to tell Nate? She wasn't sure still. It seemed like the right thing to do, but she didn't know if it would help. She feared hat talking about it would summon the demon from her dream into being. Into her present surroundings, so that he could do exactly what she had dreamed about. The thought made her cringe. She was being stupid, and her silence made her seem even more foolish. When she hadn't said anything, Nate confirmed that it wasn't essential that she tell him, but that the offer of his listening ear was still available to her. She gave a sigh, and began her tale.

"I... I was dreaming about my last master....He... He wasn't human... He was... he was a vampire... And... he had this power.. where he could trick you, mind and body, into believing what he wanted you to believe. He was.. really sick. he had these dogs.. Great huge things, that he'd trained from pups, to be cruel. To do his bidding. They were all kept.... in separate cages... because they're vicious... They'd tear apart a human body. More then once on his command. They'd fight one another if they had the chance, but they knew that if that man was in the room, that they were to wait for his command. They had to obey. Just like... like I had to. In my dream, I was getting punished. I was forced to go in the kennels. I was sitting, in a chair, watching the kennels. I couldn't move, but I wasn't bound. He wasn't letting me move. He was watching... the whole time he was watching..." Sehd' gotten brethless, even as she saw the car. She made no move to relinquish her grip on Nate. Not yet. I have to hold him to finish. He'll protect me. She took in a gulp of air and started again. "I was always his doll. His favorite plaything. Always. Even when I angered him, I was always his favorite. Even when he'd found prettier faces, I was always the one he loved to toy with. IN the dream, I was dressed, like a doll. And old dress. With lace at the cuffs. I couldn't... make a sound. He wouldn't let me. He opened the doors, let the dogs out. He let them come. Told them to eat me. And so they did. And he let me scream and i felt them tearing at my flesh. I could smell it. Smell the blood." She'd become more frantic now recalling the memory of her dream. "They were eating me. My skin. My bones. It hurt... it hurts.." Her eyes were vacant again, and she clung tighter to Nate's body. "He told me to keep screamin'. Because no one could hear. No one would come. He was telling me, in my mind, that I did not feel pain. So I wouldn't feel it, but I would scream, and when a dog bit too hard, I would feel it, he'd lose hold for a few seconds, just to make sure I screamed, before he would pull tighter to make it ongoing torture, their snouts in my face. They became wolves. Wolves form the pack. Wolves chasing me. Eating me. The wolves in the woods. The pack wolves... and I was calling. And calling and calling and calling and no one came... No one was calling. No one.... No one there..." She slipped on her hold a bit, shaking, not all coherent with the world around her. Trapped between her dream memory and explaining things to Nate.

She choked on a sob, though there were no tears. She was still dazed, her eyes slowly coming back to realization. She didn't want that man to be here. Nate had opened the car door, and she slipped in, pulling it shut quickly and locking it. She buckled herself up rapidly, making it harder for someone to quickly tug her out of the vehicle. When Nate finally got in and started driving, her nerves settled but only a bit. She was quiet, thinking over the dream, and the possibility that the man could be coming after her. That she had openly admitted she was afraid of werewolves, and the possibility that Nate would still be mad or angry with her. She stayed close to him as they went up to the apartment, and once at the top, in the penthouse, Nate offered her to go and bathe while he fixed dinner. She nodded and headed for the bathroom. While she was inside, she started the shower and scrubber vigorously at her skin. She wanted the feeling of pain to be known to her, because she had inflicted it, not because that man in her dreams had caused it. She scrubbed her skin to a raw red before she deemed herself clean enough. Clean from the influence of the dream. She wrapped herself in a towel, and headed for the kitchen. She needed to borrow a shirt. "Nate?" She said it softly, padding barefoot across the floor slowly, making sure she listened for any additional sound that would come to try and surprise her. She'd just pay more attention to her surroundings. She could manage that.

Nate honestly believed that Adrian wouldn't tell him anything about her dream. Stuff that scared you like that often made you want to keep silent about it, and never want to tell anyone. However, when they reached the car and Nate had sat her back down she started spilling out everything. Which in turn only made him interested but angry as well. A vampire with dogs huh? That was something he had never heard of, seeing as any sort of canine was related to the wolf in some form, which were somehow related to werewolves. Vampires and werewolves hated each other but maybe the only reason why he kept those dogs was because he felt better about having control over something of the canine family? It made sense but now really wasn't the time to think about it. When she finished her story all the werewolf could do is let out a soft whine and feel sorry for her. ******** vampires and their ******** mind control. For some reason though, and Nate didn't know why, something was telling him that werewolves couldn't be controlled by them? Was that true or a inside voice telling him that so he could go and kill the b*****d? He would have to ask his father. "Don't ever worry about him coming after you... I'll never let anyone hurt you, okay? I promise for as long as I live I will protect you with my last breath." Giving her a soft smile, Nate helped her get settled in and rounded to the other side to do the same thing.

The drive was mainly quiet. Nate had too much on his mind. One thing was that he had to help Adrian get over her fear of dogs. He was a werewolf! He couldn't help but want to shift into the forms he was born with. It was like breathing to him and once you cut if off, it was harder to breathe. Maybe after a little time he cold get her to come back around, but he would have to wait at least a few weeks. When Adrian was calmer and felt more at home. But wait... didn't she say something about the pack wolves? His eyes narrowed in anger as his fingers gripped the steering wheel tighter.
"I have one question and I will leave you alone. You mentioned the pack wolves? How did you even know they were out there? Black wouldn't have told you about them unless something was going on..." That was when the thought hit him. Mating season. The man face palmed and let out a heavy sigh. "You ran out into the woods during mating season... The worst time possible for a human to be out there." He really couldn't blame her for that though. She probably woke up in a new place and freaked out, but he blamed his brother for not keeping a closer eye on her. As well as Lina. They knew that she would be confused, but they didn't stick around to wait until she woke up. Morons. "Not that I blame you. I blame my brother and Lina for that mistake. They should have stuck around until you woke up. Wolves going through the season tend to be controlled more by hormones, and smelling a human close by intrigued them. Seeing as wolves who don't want to mate yet, tend to find humans so things don't happen..." He wasn't going to elaborate on that one. Nate didn't feel like being the one to explain the birds and the bees of werewolf mating season. It would be awkward..

When they got back to his apartment and were safely tucked away inside, Nate told Adrian to go ahead and take a bath while he started on dinner. Dinner. God it had been a long time since he had actually had to cook a meal. Breakfast didn't count seeing as it was easy, but dinner could be much more complicated. The werewolf quickly searched through his fridge for something to cook and ended up choosing some chicken. There he stuck it the oven after spicing it up a bit, and then regrettably choose some vegetables to go with it. Nasty things. Finding some green beans Nate put those on the stove as well and found some rolls in his freezer. Once everything was on and ready to go, the werewolf hung around in the kitchen. He was afraid to leave it seeing as he didn't want their dinner to burn, but he needed some more time to think as well. Had Adrian had these dreams while living with Black and Adrian? If she did, how did she cope with them? Whenever he had nightmares, he went running until he fell from exhaustion. It seemed like a good punishment at the time until he had to go hunting, or fight off other animals whenever they tried to steal his dinner. Nate found himself fighting bears more than anything, seeing as they were the closest thing in size. Most of the smaller animals would try to n** at him until he bared his fangs, but not those ******** bears! When he was completely healed he was going back and killing that one who gave him that cheap shot. It would make the perfect bear skin rug! Snapping out of this thoughts when his name was called, Nate called out to her.
"I'm in the kitchen!" Wondering what she needed, Nate told her to come to him and when she did... well... Nate's jaw hit the floor. Clothes. Her clothes were going to be a must have. God she was beautiful and her being wrapped in only a towel and still damp from her bath... Nate really just wanted to drool.

Knowing it would be best if she went upstairs and put on his shirt, Nate instead let out a low seductive growl as his usually bright greens eyes darkened a shade making them look like shining emeralds. Taking a step closer to her, Nate wrapped an arm around her waist pulling her closer. Looking down at her, his eyes narrowed lazily as a smirk played on his lips.
"What is it that you wanted, love?" Lowering his face closer to hers, Nate locked his eyes with her. She was a beautiful woman and perfect for him. She wasn't the one to deal with his bullshit and she wasn't afraid to speak her mind to him. Such a feisty thing she was. It was incredibly attractive. Pressing his lips to hers in a soft kiss, Nate let out another growl as moved to deepen it. His lips moved over hers hungrily as he picked her up and sat her on the counter, coming to stand between her legs with his hands resting on both sides of her. He had so much locked up lust and passion for her, and Nate couldn't control it. He wanted her so badly... Growling against her lips, his face moved to her neck where he sucked and bit gently. One of his hands came to rest on her thigh as the other held her hip, slowly moving up. Nate knew where this was going to lead but it wasn't the season or anywhere close to it, so he could control himself. She would be safe from him. Being so wrapped up in her scent and the way he skin tasted and felt against his lips, Nate didn't even register the sound of his apartment door opening nor the footsteps they came towards them. "Well I admit I didn't expect to come here and see this, but I'm quite glad that you're safe Adrian. Even though my idiotic son is acting like a horny dog in heat." Green eyes flashed opened and the werewolf picked his head up to see his father standing there with a bright smile and laughter in his eyes. Son of a b***h. He did it again! "After all the times I've walked in like this, you would think you would pay better attention Nate, but I can understand your happiness. Should I leave and come back later?" "Just ******** stay.. After that I don't think I can get it up again..." Growling with a bright blush on his face, Nate helped Adrian down and told her to go find a shirt of his. "That isn't necessary, Adrian I brought you're clothes to you. I thought you would like them back."

Showing her some bags, Sire Thames smiled gently at her while Nate continued to pout a bit.
"Just stick around for dinner... It'll be ready in a few minutes.." Turning his back to the pair, Nate tried to hide from his embarrassment. He really did need to stop dropping his guard because every time something like that happened, Sire Thames had a habit of walking in. How many times would this make it now? Five? God he was a dork. Hearing Adrian leave with her bags, he could still feel his father's presence. "So I heard you made quite the show at the company. Black isn't too happy about the broken walls and guards. Even one of this employees Nate? You need to learn how to control that temper and jealousy." The only response was a growl. Sire Thames only chuckled and leaned against the wall as he watched his son. "I'm glad you're safe. I was worried about you but I understand why you left. You believed it was best, am I right?" He hated how perceptive his father was. "Nate I know why you did what you did all those years ago, and your uncle has been justly punished for his actions. You could come back home if you told your brother. He'd be upset that you didn't tell him sooner, but he will forgive you." Nate didn't know what to say... He could go back home and be part of the pack again. He could be with his family and in the house that he grew up in? His fists tightened as he thought about it. What would it be like to go back home? Nate only growled as he thought and pulled dinner out of the oven. He would think about this later... Not now. "If you're hungry go ahead and eat..." A gentle smile appeared on Sire Thames face as he nodded his head. "I understand. Whenever you are ready, you can come back. The doors are always opened." Nate only looked at him and shook his head, hiding the faint smile. Though it was a pain that his father was always so perceptive, it was also a blessing.

"I'm more then a number,
More then a pretty face,
And surely,
More then you can handle."

Adrian had to give Nate credit, he was doing a lot of listening, and she was pleasantly surprised that h wasn't making protest aloud as she explained her dream. She had honestly expected him to be vowing that he would find a kill the b*****d that had done it to her, but perhaps her earlier warnings had sunk in. The only thing he had managed to ask her in the car, was how she knew about the pack. She bit her lip and turned her head away, outwards the window. She didn't want to explain that she had tried to run form the safe place he'd sent her, but obviously, Nate understood what had transpired even if Adrian hadn't been the one to explain what had happened. He didn't blame her, but rather Black and Lina. Adrian shook her head. it'd been her fault anyways. She closed her eyes, understanding that it had been her fault. Her scent had led the wolves into madness. A flurry of desire. She closed her eyes, shaking her head. It had been her fault. She should have been more responsible. Then the whole mes wouldn't have happened. She still might have thought her old master's dogs were turning into werewolves, but she wouldn't have had the same fear. Or maybe, she would have. In all honesty, Adrian didn't know.

That was when the pulled back up to the apartment, and she got out, and went for her shower as he'd instructed. She'd scrubbed the remnants of the dream off, and called for him, needing to borrow a shirt. When his response came that he was in the kitchen, she padded into the room carefully, one hand keeping her towel around her, by knotting the material at her throat. Her hair still glistened and dripped softly into the material of the towel. She wasn't afraid to approach him like this.No. She was alright. When she saw Nate, she noted that his eyes flashed, darkening in color. She watched him, a small smile starting to hint at her lips, as well as a dash of darkened blush from her cheeks. She was a grown adult. She didn't need to be some dewy-eyed school girl upon just seeing Nate. He took the opportunity to pull her closer, and she moved to fit against him gently, placing her cheek to his side, but trying to keep her damp hair from his shirt. She wouldn't want to get him all wet. When he leveled his gaze to her face, she gave a little gasp, loving the proximity. "Well... I need to..." She was flustered by the intensity with which he was gazing at her. Her heart fluttered gently. "I need to borrow a shirt. All my clothes are back at the mansion..."

He kissed her then, and she returned the gesture quite willingly, letting her body lose some of it's rigid posture. She simply melted into him, her grip on the towel loosening softly. She draped her free arm around his shoulder gently, keeping him close to her. He picked her up then, setting her on the counter. All bets were off at this point. She relinquished her hold on the towel knot, as Nate gently inched closer, taking advantage of her legs not sitting next to each other due to the counter. She threw both arms around his neck then, feeling Nate;s mouth at her throat gently. Sucking and biting. She went rigid for a moment, her eyes opening to this sensation, and she dug her fingers into Nate's back. Inhaling, she knew it was Nate that was here. Nate that was holding her so tenderly. this was Nate. Nate was safe. She relaxed a bit, closing her eyes softly, shuddering against him. she felt his hands on her tight, her hip. Her own body pressing closer to his, holding him. She pressed her lips to his ear gently, giving a soft moan to his touches. Yielding. She didn't care where this led. She was with Nate. She would be safe. She pulled him closer to her, relishing the feel of his body against hers. And then, she heard a deep voice speaking to them both.

Adrian jumped, smacking her head on the cabinet behind her as she groped for the towel knot that had slipped lower then she intended it. She wrenched it back up, using her free hand to rub her head. She flushed deeply, knowing that the voice belong to Sire Thames. The elder male made the comment about Nate being like a dog in heat, but Adrian knew that she too, had encouraged and played part in this game. She was mortified, trying to hide the blush that had inflamed her face. She bit her lip and looked away, still holding the towel tightly. When Sire Thames continued, asking if he should go and return later, Adrian closed her eyes and groaned gently, bringing her legs together in a snap, forcing Nate back form her if he hadn't already done so. She scooted herself off the counter carefully, and listened as Nate told her just to go grab one of his shirts. She nodded, ready to dismiss herself when Sire Thames revealed the bags that held her clothes in them. Adrian padded forward rather quickly, unable to look the man straight in the face as she said her thank you's, took the bags, and left the room. Oh how embarrassing that had been! to have the Sire walk in on them like that and see her damn near naked, clinging to Nate. She was mortified. She didn't want to let it happen again.

Moving to her room, she set the bags down. Rifling through them, she found black underwear, matching of course, and then a pair of black jeans. Pulling them on, she buttoned them, ditching the towel, as she was now covered by at least some fabric that wouldn't move on her. She threw a black tank top on over her bra, and made a quick brush of her hair, pulling it up into a pony tail before heading back out to the kitchen. She tiptoed as she drew close, hearing the sounds of conversation going on in the kitchen, but not the words. She was only human. Besides, she had a feeling Nate and the Sire would hear her before she got a good grab at what they ere talking about. As she inched closer, she heard Sire Thames mention something about know why Nate had done what he had done in regard to some uncle who had been punished, and that Nate would be able to return home. It was all rather confusing, but Adrian chose that moment to make her presence known. She wasn't going to continue to hide from them when they had probably already known she was there. She gave Nate a curious gaze when she came into th3 room, before smiling gently at Sire Thames.

Sire Thames had just finished telling Nate that the doors would be open for him to return. When it seemed as if the elder male was finished speaking, Adrain smiled sheepishly. "We don't... normally...It's not a normal situation to find us..." Adrian blushed and shook her head. She was certain that Sire Thames knew exactly what she was trying to say, even if she couldn't get the mush out of her mouth enough to say it. She smiled up at him. "Thank you for bringing my clothes. It's nice to have things that fit. And are meant for me." She passed a smile at Nate, trying to let him know his loaning was not in vain, that she had appreciated his contributions as well. She turned then, to look at the dinner Nate had made, and smirked. "Nate? you're actually going to eat something green?" Adrian was amused at this, pulling three plates from the cabinet, followed by three glasses. Surely they had something to drink in the house, even if she wasn't technically of legal age to drink it. She wasn't about to be chastised for wanting something a little stronger then water.

Nate had been enjoying himself all until his father decided to show up. Narrowing his eyes and watching her walk away, Sire Thames then went to explaining everything for him. If he wanted to come back home, he could come back home. He just had to explain everything to Black. Looking away and changing topics, Sire Thames understood everything and dropped the subject. Hearing Adrian's voice, Nate picked his head up and smiled softly at her as she explained everything. Sire Thames only smiled and nodded his head in understanding. "It isn't the first time something like this has happened, my dear. Nate and I have been through this many times when he was much younger." Nate let out a groan of embarrassment. He didn't want to talk about that. "Dad I'd rather not talk about when I was a teenager... and thanks to you all those girls left laughing and spreading rumors how I was incompetent... Talk about a blow to one's pride." Shaking his head and pushing some hair out of his face, and he looked over at Anoura when he mentioned his dinner. Him? Eating something green? Chuckling and shaking his head, Nate winked at her. "I only made it because I thought might want it. I don't like vegetables much... I can tell you I didn't eat them while I was away, so it will take me a bit to start eating them barely."

This amused Sire Thames. "He barely ate them as a child. The cook had to sneak them in his food, which he barely ate even then." Chuckling and making himself a plate, Nate smiled over at his father and then turned his attention back to Adrian. Just what in the hell was she looking for? Raising a brow and shaking his head, Nate crossed his arms over his chest.
"Adrian I don't keep anything stronger than soda here. I see WAY to much alcohol at work, so I didn't want to see here. Besides, I don't drink. It smells to strongly for my tastes." Speaking of work, he would have to call them and tell them he was back. They would want him back seeing as they begged him not to leave when he did, but they understood that he needed a "vacation". He would call them first thing when he woke up. "Adrian... as much I don't like it... Do you want to go back and work in the company? I mean, I need to go back to work seeing as they cried when I left... so instead of hanging out here all day... you could work I guess. But I'm not pushing you!" He would rather he stay inside of the house, but he had a feeling she would end up trying to find a way out.

It was rather annoying for her to go back there. With all those guys staring at her and thinking dirty thoughts about her, but by god, she wouldn't have any boyfriends! He wouldn't allow that! Grabbing a plate and piling it with chicken and then some bread, Nate poured himself some juice and moved to sit at the table with Sire Thames. Sitting there and talking with his father about the France Mountain Chain, Nate told him about the animals that were there now and a small village at the bottom of it. Of course his father had been there many times, seeing as the man traveled all the time. France was his favorite place to go and spoke French rather beautifully. Nate was sure that he knew many more languages, but French was the one that you could hear him speaking frequently.
"I'd like to take Adrian there one day. Besides, I've got some payback with a bear..." Letting out a low growl, Nate soon let out a laugh and once everyone was finished eating, he threw the dishes in the sink. His housekeeper could get those later. When dinner was finished, Nate asked if Sire Thames was staying and the man said he would as long as he was intruding. Nate shook his head and showed him the other bedroom and the older wolf said his goodnights. Early to bed and early to rise. That was his favorite phrase after all of these years.

Looking at Adrian and smiling at her, he took her hand and led her towards the living room.
"I feel like watching some kind of funny movie. Want to watch one with me?" Not giving her anytime to answer, the werewolf pulled her along anyways and made her sit on the couch. Moving to his rather large movie collection, Nate found 'My Best Friend's Girl' and popped it into the DVD player. It was a sort of romantic comedy he supposed... but it was more comedy than anything. Moving to join her on the couch, Nate wrapped an arm around her shoulders, and pulled her closer to him. This was nice. He could get use to doing this every night. Well... all until they ran out of movies, but if that should ever happen then they could always go out and buy some more.

"I'm more then a number,
More then a pretty face,
And surely,
More then you can handle."

It was impossible to find what she was looking for. Adrian was trying to recall where Nate would keep the liquor, but she couldn't even recall if she'd ever seen it in the house. She knew he came home smelling like it when he worked. The mentioning of Nate's teenage days, and Sire Thame's acceptance of the sight he had sen made the dark haired female duck her head to hid her blush. She didn't want to hear about Nate's teenage days either. She knew that he would have had other females, hell, she'd some of the ones he'd brought home, but that didn't mean she liked it, or accepted it. No. Adrian preferred to pretend that there was not other woman for Nate. She knew that they had a complicated relationship among themselves, but the idea of Nate with another girl just fried her. She stood in front of one open cabinet apparently too long. When Nate said that he didn't keep anything stronger then soda in the house, she blushed deeper, and waved him off, trying to make it seem like she was looking for something else. How could he do that to her? He was making her look like some sort of lush in front of his father. She looked up to Sire Thames, she wouldn't be able to handle it if the elder male thought she was just some childish alcoholic.

Moving to the stove, Adrian pulled green beans onto her plate and added some garlic to them, dousing a bit of soy sauce on them and then grabbed some chicken and two rolls. she was hungry, and she was fairly certain neither male would make a comment about her portion size. It wouldn't be polite to do such. Hearing Sire Thames mention the greens, Adrian smirked. "Try them this way." She speared some on her fork, and offered them towards Nate. Smirking, she waited for his reaction, figuring he'd turn them down. If he did, she simply popped the bit in her mouth instead. She liked them this way. Tasted salty. That was all that mattered. She picked at her chicken, indulging on the warm rolls. She tried to eat at a reasonable pace, but having lost her meal the previous day, and then, not eating since, she was truly hungry. It was probably better that she didn't have the alcohol. it might have come right back up on her. She smirked, listening to Nate tell Sire Thames of the French Mountain chain he'd been in, and how he wanted to go back, and bring Adrian with him. The raven haired female smiled and finished her meal quietly.

Hearing that Sire Thames planned on staying for the evening, Adrian smiled, snuggling into her clothes. Adrian gave her goodnight, making sure she hugged the elder male before watching him go for the bedroom. When Nate asked if she wanted to watch a movie, she nodded her head, finishing off a roll, before gently slipping her plate into the sink. Normally, she would have cleaned it herself, and not given so much work for the house keeper, but she wasn't going to be away from Nate too long. She stepped carefully into the living room, her hand in Nate's. She settled herself into the couch and watched as Nate put in the movie. She didn't care what it was. She didn't care if anything was playing on the screen at all. As long as she was close to Nate, that's all that mattered at this point. She didn't plan on doing anything scandalous with Sire Thames in the house, but surely, she could cuddle with Nate, right? She blinked, falling into him as he pulled her closer. He had asked if she wanted to go back to the office. It would give her something to do during her day. It was surprising he;d given her the option at all, but she wasn't sure what decision she should make. With a smirk, and wild eyes, she looked at Nate. "Well, I don't know if I'll be allowed back. Surely, no one will talk to me, in fear that you'll come and throw them against a wall too. His poor wife....I hope he's okay. He was just beaming about that baby...
]/b] She smiled, taking Nate's hand into her own. She kissed it gently, before reclining further again Nate's form. She probably should have headed back to work. It would be good for her. But she was more concerned with getting Nate to visit his niece and nephews. Sire Thames said all he had to do was explain what had happened. Adrian pondered over what that was. She didn't want to seem intrusive by asking, so instead, she focused on the movie, smiling contentedly against Nate's form.

Eyeing those menacing green vegetables, Nate narrowed his eyes in a glare at them before turning his nose up at them. Who wanted to eat those nasty things? Vegetables were just disgusting and though he acted like a child whenever it came down to it, Nate would still refuse to eat them. They were so bland, gross, and sometimes he felt like he could taste the dirt they were in. No, the werewolf would just stick with his meat and bread. That was good enough. Eating dinner with his father and Adrian was nice, seeing as he hadn’t seen his father in years. Nate believed that the man would hate him for all he had done in the past, but of course, Sire Thames always surprised. However, even though his father was forgiving he had high doubts that his brother would be as forgiving. Black knew how to hold on to grudges if it suited him, and this one with him suited Black just fine. After all, Nate did threaten his family’s happiness. Being told day after day that he was worthless and didn’t deserve to live; it pushed Nate into a very desperate situation. It wasn’t like he really hated his brother. No... Nate actually respected him and saw him as the just, loyal, and strong man that he was. Even if he could be a little dense but then again, Nate was just a dense. Oh well, the werewolf knew that he would just have to find a way to get his brother to come around, but right now he was going to enjoy this moment.

After dinner was finished, Nate gathered the dishes and tossed them all into the sink. The housekeeper could get them whenever she got here, seeing as it was her job, but the man had a feeling that Adrian would get to them as soon as possible. She had never liked to leave things lying around for the woman, unlike Nate, who before Adrian came here, had clothes laying and strewn all over the apartment. Sometimes they were up the in ceiling fans or hanging from a curtain rod. The floor would be littered with underwear and socks, which caused the woman to chastise him but with a smile on her face. The two would sometimes have breakfast together and chat idly; sometimes Nate watched and talked to her as she cleaned. She was a good woman who loved her family, so the werewolf made sure that she was very well paid. Making sure that Sire Thames was comfortable in the spare bedroom, Nate took Adrian into the living room with him to watch a movie. It would be nice to just sit there and relax, so as soon as he popped a movie into the DVD player, Nate pulled her close to him and let out a relaxed sigh. Then came the question of her working again, and Nate let out a groan from her words. Well that had to make him the biggest a*****e in the world. ”I’ll make sure that I find a way to make it up to his family… I’ll pay the medical expenses and give them a generous gift. I shouldn’t have lost my temper like that, but if you wish to work then I am sure that Black will make it so that you can.” Looking down at her with an apologetic frown, the werewolf kissed her cheek and held her closer.

This was the sense of peace that he had been searching for up in those mountains. Relaxing more against her and into the couch, the man was soon asleep snoring softly against her hair. Hearing the sound of the movie credits, Nate woke up slowly and turned the TV and the DVD player off. Yawning and stretching his arms above his head, the werewolf smiled gently down at Adrian and picked her up. He had hoped that she wouldn’t mind to much sharing his bed with him, but the werewolf wanted her next to him. Nate just slept better with her at his side. Whispering softly into her ear that it was time for bed, the man carried her into his bedroom and lay down with her. Nuzzling the back of her neck as his arm kept her against his chest, Nate sighed softly and dozed off once more. The sound of the door closing and the dinging of the elevator woke him up, making him let out a groan of displeasure. He just wanted to lay here for a few more minutes… Then he would get up and a take a shower. For right now, he would just continue to hold his lovely Adrian close, and snuggle with her quietly. Closing his eyes as he took a deep breath, Nate fell asleep once more, enjoying the feeling of her back in his arms. Sleeping for another hour, Nate woke up with a yawn and dragged himself into his shower. The hot water on his muffed up shoulder stung and even more so when he started to wash himself. Getting out and drying himself off, Nate made quick work of bandaging his shoulder, and moved into his closet to pull on some shorts. Looking down at his calf, a frown traced his lips as his eyes ran along the scar. Black had broken his leg along with his shoulder blade. It had taken a long time for them to heal and the man had scars from his brother's teeth and claws. When was the last time he had looked at them? In all honesty he had really forgotten about them. Shaking his head, the werewolf moved to get ready. He had other things to do right now.

Drying his hair as he walked down into the kitchen, the werewolf looked at the time and decided that it was too late for breakfast, so he decided to make a light lunch. Making some sandwiches and some soup, Nate took a couple of sandwiches and moved to sit outside. He'd let Adrian wake up on her own. She deserved the sleep seeing as he did throw her through an emotional roller coaster yesterday. Closing his eyes and relaxing in his chair, the sunshine felt wonderful and it was drying his still wet hair. Letting out a yawn and getting lazy, the werewolf dozed off once more.

"I'm more then a number,
More then a pretty face,
And surely,
More then you can handle."

It seemed to take forever, just getting comfortable, and knowing that there was a pile of dishes in the sink waiting for her to clean them, but Nate wouldn’t let her move from her spot to do the chores. He made her sit and ignore the fact that there was filth piling up in the stainless steel basin. He was confident in his house cleaner’s abilities, as was Adrian, but the older woman deserved a break every now and then too. With nothing else to do, Adrian had gotten roped into watching a movie, curled up besides Nate on the couch. Nate had made sure his father was tucked away, safe and sound and comfortable in the guest room, and the raven haired female had waited patiently, nestling herself into the comfortable couch and greedily grabbing an afghan from the back of the couch and laying it over her legs. She had a feeling that once Nate came and sat down, she wouldn’t need it, but still, it was nice to hide under the blanket now and then. When Nate finally made his way back into the room, putting the DVD in the player before he sat down, Adrian snuggled right up to him, fitting herself in all the spaces that needed filling. She smirked softly, rubbing the top of her head against his chin, much like a cat would. Only then was she content enough to make jokes and ponder working and such once more. Hearing his groan, followed by his response, Adrian sighed and shook her head. ”We can just talk about it later.” She grabbed his hand and held it in her lap, drinking in his form and they way he fit against her. For so long she had been without him. For so long she had thought he wouldn’t even return. And even though she thought he had overreacted, and he had humiliated her, she still forgave him for his proximity.

It was only a matter of time before Nate was dozing softly, breathing warmth into her scalp. Adrian smirked, snuggling closer and watching the movie, getting into it and following the story line. She didn’t notice herself starting to doze, or the level of comfort that must have allowed her to drop her defenses. Her eyes started to droop and before she knew it, she too, had fallen into sleep. This time, it was not wracked with horrible nightmares. It was blissful and clam, as sleep should be. She smiled gently, even when she felt Nate shift away. A soft whine came from her lips, a sense of warmth gone. She fidgeted in sleep, trying desperately to find the warmth that had just enveloped her so completely. When the sensation returned, she turned greedily, curling up into the arms that held her close. She heard Nate speaking, unintelligible words far away. They tickled her ear and brought a smile to her lips, and she mumbled a soft “okay” in response, unsure of what she had agreed to. Curling tighter, she didn’t feel Nate’s movements as he moved her from the couch to his bed, nor did she feel him lay her upon the soft bed while he got in. All she knew was that she was safe and warm. The afghan twirled around her body, cocooning her in additional warmth, even though Nate was more than sufficient to make her comfortable. She remained still, waiting for Nate to come back and lay with her once again. She didn’t want to be anywhere but in his arms, and she knew that even though she was asleep.

When Nate took her into his arms once more, she twisted carefully, stretching her body against his until her face found his neck; her lips, his throat. She breathed softly into his skin, moving to be closer still to him. When she was comfortable, she remained like a rock, unmoving against Nate’s form. She slept that way for hours, not moving at all, stuck to Nate’s side, greedily taking in his presence and making soft protests when he tried to move away. When Nate left the bed, she made a soft whimper, uncomprehending the happenings around her, her face turned into a pout and she rolled to hug the afghan closer to her as Nate left to shower. It wasn’t much longer after her left that she stirred and awoke. Smelling the faint scent of shower, Adrian knew Nate had been there recently. She got up and headed towards the kitchen, running long fingers through her tousled hair, trying to make it obedient. When she couldn’t find Nate inside, she moved outside to find him. With a frown, she began on the balcony, and found him rather quickly. The large male had dozed off and left food sitting out. Smirking, she went and nibbled at his sandwich calmly, and then moved to sit behind him, rubbing tenderly at his neck, avoiding his injured shoulder at all costs. She rubbed at the muscles of his arms and kissed his temples lightly, brushing fingers through his long waves. She looked over the relaxed features of his face and smiled. ”Promise you’ll never leave me again?” She whispered it softly into his hair, not expecting a response, and went back to gently rubbing at his body, hoping that it would allow him to rest easier and more comfortably. She wanted to make things up to him, just as he was trying to do for her. It would be a long process, but she hoped he’d forgive her just as she had him.

Nate was having a rather nice nap, one that didn't have the horrible and gut wrenching nightmares. No... This was a dark and dreamless sleep, or so he had thought... After ten minutes or so, the werewolf began to twitch and whimper softly in his sleep. He was running for what seemed like forever and had no signs of stopping. His lungs burned from the icy cold air as his legs felt heavy and weak. His body was giving signs of quitting and letting him lie where ever he fell. However there was something that told him to keep running, that his life depended on it, and so that is what the wolf did. He ran and he ran hard. Eventually though, Nate's legs gave out and the large creature slid face first through the snow. There he laid on his side, panting heavily as the world started to darken. It seemed that he would soon pass out from exhaustion, and there wasn't a damn thing that he could do about it. Looking up at what was left of the darkening blue sky, a man stood above him, and before Nate could even left his head to fight the man smirked and only said "Now she is all mine". Trying to pick himself up as the gun was pointed towards his head, the weapons trigger was pulled and a gunshot echoed throughout the thick forest.

Jerking himself awake and grabbing Adrian's wrist, the man searched around with wide, wild eyes. Sitting silently for a few moments as he tried to figure out just where exactly he was, Nate started to slow his breathing and start to relax. He was home... He was finally at home... With Adrian. Looking at her wrist, he let go with a whine, knowing that the soft pale skin would soon start to bruise with the ugly purple, blue, and blacks... Closing his eyes and leaning back against the chair, the wolf ran a hand over his face. It was just a dream. Just another dream. However... His body just couldn't shake that intense feeling of fear and utter hopelessness. Just what exactly made him dream such a terrible thing? Well it didn't matter now. He was awake and safe. No hunter would reach him here, but then again... That hunter wasn't exactly human. There was no way an actual human man could run that fast nor strike that much fear into hi . No that was definitely something else. Something powerful and supernatural. Shaking his head and pushing his hair back, Nate looked back at Adrian with a gentle smile. This is what he came home for... Taking her hand and kissing her bruising wrist gently, Nate let out a gentle sigh.

"Sorry if I scared you... It wasn't my intentions to do so, I didn't meant to hurt you either." Running his thumb across the smooth skin, Nate placed another kiss to her wrist and gave her another smile. He honestly didn't want to talk about that dream. He wasn't ready to admit how much it truly bothered him, and he didn't want to think about it anymore. It was done and over with and there was no need to talk about it. No need to bring it up. Standing up and stretching gently, afraid of ripping his stitches, Nate pushed some of Adrian's hair behind her ear and looked over her. She was so beautiful and perfect... Adrian was everything that he could ever want in a mate. That thought made him stop. This season he would send her far from him. He wasn't having a repeaters. The werewolf would rather be horny and crazy by himself if it meant keeping her safe. Nate swore that he would never force Adrian into something ever again. Especially sex. "What should we do today? I was thinking about buying new furniture, and I want to buy you a new bedroom suite. I was hoping that you would pick out something you really liked. Then he had to buy her a new door. That would be done while they we're out and about. The werewolf thought of buying her a new wardrobe as well... The clothes that she had at the main estate could stay there in case she ever went back for a visit. Nate hoped that she would go back. Sure Thames had taken quite a liking to her and he was sure his nephews and niece did as well.

"What do you say? After furniture shopping, we can go clothes shopping. All the clothes left at the estate can stay for when you go back for visits." Kissing her forehead, Nate smiled down at her as he held her close. Even though his dream freaked him out, Nate did know one thing... That he was finally where he needed to be. At home and by Adrian's side. This was the only place that he ever needed to be.

"I'm more then a number,
More then a pretty face,
And surely,
More then you can handle."

She moved her fingers gently through his hair, smiling as he slept on, completely unaware of her comments. He seemed so at peace while he slept, that was, until he began whimpering. A slight frown crept into her features as she gently hushed at him, trying to calm him down. When he twitched, Adrian frowned deeper, moving in front of him, instead of behind him, pushing hair back from his face as she focused on him. ”Nate…. Nate it’s okay… I’m right here… Nate... wake up…” Green eyes probed Nate’s sleeping face with an almost hungry desperation. She didn’t know what to do, but she didn’t want to see Nate twitch, or hear him whimper like he was broken. Her heart rate picked up as she watched him continue in this unconscious battle. She reached out tenderly to stroke his cheek, worried about what was going on. Was something happening to him while he was asleep? Was something physically wrong with him? What if he was having a seizure instead of just a bad dream? What was she supposed to do? Her eyes widened and she looked around, ready to grab something to help him. But what would help him if he was having a seizure? Were they like human seizures? Or would they be different because he was a werewolf? What if it was caused by his shoulder injury? Was it an infection, festering inside of him? She didn’t know what to do. There were so many possibility and Sire Thames had just left, so she had no idea what was going to happen. She looked at him again frantically, shaking her head and put her hand out to him, as if he could see it. ”I’ll get you something… I’ll be right back..”

As soon as she had moved to turn around, she felt a grasp on her wrist. It was fast, and Nate’s hold was absolute. She bit the inside of her lip to keep from crying out, stopping her body as she looked at him, giving a little bit of a sigh of relief as he opened his eyes and seemed to be alert. When she was certain she wouldn’t cry out from the sudden grab, she exhaled the breath she had been holding and turned to look at him with a nervous smile. Nate’s eyes were as wild as her head had been only moments ago. Reeling, and panicked. She looked at him, moving gently against his hold and touched his cheek with her other hand. ”It’s okay. I’m with you. You’re awake. We’re okay. No bears. No mountains. Just the condo.” It seemed to take him a minute, but when Nate responded, he looked at her encircled wrist and whined, letting it go. Adrian pulled it back from him quickly, trying to hide the markings that surrounded It, not wanting him to feel guilty about grabbing her. She smiled gently and settled herself on the edge of the chair, looking at him, watching him to make sure he was actually back to himself. His thoughts seemed misplaced and elsewhere, but she didn’t want to call him on it. Instead, she sat, waiting for him to speak or make some movement. When he did, he took her wrist and kissed it. She smiled sheepishly, trying not to look at the mottled colors on her flesh. It had been an accident, but if strangers saw it, they might ask questions. And that was not what she wanted. But then again, she wasn’t really going back to work, was she? So, she didn’t really have to think about those kinds of things. All she had to worry about now was keeping Nate sane.

When he spoke, she smiled gently, listening to him, and shaking her head when he finished. She really didn’t need his apology. She knew that he hadn’t meant it. She opened her mouth to ask him what had scared him so, but he got up and stretched instead, and she decided not to ask. Maybe he didn’t want to talk about it, and that’s why he hadn’t elaborated. She couldn’t very well blame him. Instead she just watched him, her eyes moving over him, and taking him in as she studied him. When he turned and tucked some hair behind her ear, she blushed, her eyes widening in surprise, but as he pulled his hand away, she brought her fingers up to his, making his hand linger by her lips so she could kiss his palm before letting him pull away completely. He was so gentle with her. It infuriated her sometimes, when he treated her like glass, but it made her feel special all the same, which was a confusing feeling. As his palm drew away, her green eyes stil searched his, trying to find the monster that had plagued his dreams.

She was interrupted by his question, asking her what she wanted to do for the day. His suggestions piled one. Clothes Shopping. Furniture Shopping. Something she liked. Shopping. Her clothes at the estate could stay when she visited. There was no mention of him coming with her. It was as if he was setting her up for happiness without him. She frowned deeply and looked up at him, confused. ”Nate…are you trying to tell me something? Are you... leaving again? I mean furniture and clothes… they’re nice… and so is visiting the estate… but I don’t want to do them alone… I thought…” She frowned deeper, lowering her eyes, puzzled. Maybe there was still a problem? Maybe she had done something, or her clinginess was bothering him. She had thought that they had gotten over this, and that Nate wanted her close, but maybe she was wrong? She was so uncertain now that it seemed like he was pushing her out. Or maybe she was overreacting like an idiot? She looked up to him once more and stood up, taking the plate with the remnants of his discarded food and walked into the kitchen, starting the water so she could clean the plate. Maybe it was better that they didn’t talk about these things right now. After all, she might start another fight and that was not what she wanted to do. And even if he had had good intentions and just wanted to spoil her a bit, she felt as if she had ruined a good mood. Why was she so stupid? Why couldn’t she had just left things the way they were? It wasn’t like her to be this way, and now here she was, ******** things up. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath and put the plate away, turning around ready to leave the room once more. What had she been trying to say when she had asked that question? She couldn’t have been thinking. Now, she was just ashamed and lost, whishing she had just gone shopping and not spoken at all.

Forest green eyes searched Adrian's for a few moments before he started relaxing. She was safe and here with him, even if she did look incredibly worried, Nate knew that it was because of him. No one was attacking or trying to steal her away from him. Everything was perfectly fine. Looking at her as she reassured him that they were fine, the werewolf almost laughed when she said there were no bears. God he would have rather fought them then dream something like that. Instead of saying that, Nate only smiled at her. Everything was fine now. Everything was going to be okay. Well, the man hoped that everything was okay. Looking at her wrist, Nate really did feel bad about that. Next time, he'd try not to squeeze so hard, but at least he didn't break her wrist! At least there was that. "I really am sorry for that... I had to have scared you." With that note, the man started to think ahead to the mating season. Then that thought made him think of horrible memories. He knew that if it bothered him, it had to bother her, so he wanted to take everything out of that room and replace it with something new. Something that would hopefully create happy memories instead.

Suggesting these ideas to Adrian seemed to only make her depressed. Tilting his head as he waited for an explanation, he soon frowned. No! That wasn't his intentions at all but who could blame her for thinking that? He had run off and hide for a year and a half, not bothering to call or to let anyone know he was alive, but at the time, Nate believed that it was the best thing to do. He thought he would give Adrian the family she seemed she wanted, and the chance to find someone normal to love. It was that thought that continued to plague his thoughts and make him burn with jealousy. Nate soon found out that he didn't want her to be with anyone but him. That was when he dug up his clothes and his wallet, and quickly got on the first plane home. He thought he would try to make her happy and be gentle with her this time. She was an object that he didn't want to cause any sort of pain, but it appeared that was what he doing.

Watching her walk away, the werewolf ran a hand through his hair before following her. He wanted to explain his true intentions, instead of run away from them."I thought it would be easier to buy new clothes then drive for hours just to get yours back. As for the furniture... I just don't want to look into your room and remember what had happened. Every time that I look at that bed in there, it brings those memories back. I want everything out of there and replaced with something you have chosen. Something that is new and that you have chosen. Will you let me have my selfish wish?" Kissing the side of her neck then her cheek, the werewolf thought about the estate. She would be safe from him during the season, seeing as that was one place he really wasn't ready to face yet. He didn't want to look at his brother or his mate... Nate just wasn't strong enough for that yet. "You'll have to go back and visit those kids... And my father. They all love you and I know you'd like to see them too.. I understand your wish is to have me with you there, but I'm not ready to face Black or Lina for that matter. You'll have to give me more time... I'm sorry."

He still needed to talk to her about the mating season, and his future plans for that. Nate wouldn't sleep with anyone during it. He'd just lock himself in his room until it was over. He would try to talk to Adrian, but he was sure if he did... He'd end up sending her incredibly inappropriate messages accompanied by pictures... The thought made him inwardly groan. When had he turned into such a huge pervert?"Now that you know that I'm not leaving, do you want to go? I thought it would be something nice for us both to do. Something... Normal." Normalcy was something he wanted for them. Nate thought it be good for them. It would help make things back to the way it was, or so he thought. It sounded like a good plan when he thought of it anyways... Kissing her cheek one last time, the werewolf took a step back and leaned against the counter. "Don't look so sad. Your question didn't upset me, and it certainly wasn't going to start a fight. I understand that my leaving is going to be something that dampened your trust. I'll just work hard to gain it back." Flashing her a bright smile, Nate walked over and kissed her gently as he cupped her cheek. "I'm here to stay my love... I'll be with you for as long as you want me." Even then, Nate didn't think he could give her up... The werewolf would just try harder to find ways to make her love him again.

"I'm more then a number,
More then a pretty face,
And surely,
More then you can handle."

Nate was so confusing! All these mixed messages that were wrapping around her mind like a vice that wouldn’t let go. She continued to travel to that safe place in her thoughts where he couldn’t reach her. The place she ahd carved for herself when she had first found herself in the slave trade. Cold detachment usually accompanied the thoughts when they rippled across the surface of her heart. She didn’t want to feel that, or be that way with Nate, but she wasn’t sure how to act around him. She was scared, because for the first time in her life, she cared about another person more than herself. More than finding her lost sister, which she had done. She had no more purpose. Not without Nate. She’d just be a ball of unspent energy wandering aimlessly through the world. Her sister had a life. A husband and three beautiful children accompanied that life. Adrian had… well up until a few days ago, she had had nothing. She’d been tagging along on her sister’s happiness without much of her own. Nate had gone and she had been alone. She was trying to come to terms with that, but it seemed as though it wasn’t going to work. That hard shell that had so long existed was rising again, and her honesty and true emotions were pushed into the dark void that was nesting within her heart. Now, she felt herself crawling in after them. She wasn’t sure what she wanted, but she knew that when she looked at Nate, she saw a beacon of what her future might hold and she didn’t want to let it go. Even if when she stared closer, Nate wasn’t leading her to nay more conclucsions than she had already made in her own mind.

When he spoke, she listened. When he told her he simply wanted everything to be new and clean, she understood. It was something she was trying to do with herself, but was finding it difficult. She couldn’t wrap her mind around what it meant to be herself without a purpose or cause driving her home. The emotions she should have felt were tangled and frayed, lost in darkness and only prodding at her with brutal ends she couldn’t take hold of if she wanted the pain to recede. And yet, just when she thought she might be truly lost in what was right and wrong, Nate reached out and kissed the side of her neck, being once again the beacon she needed. Her thoughts focused, and Nate consumed her. His words. His kiss. That’s what had her attention. She was drawn to him like a moth to flame and she wasn’t going anywhere. The more he spoke, the sillier she felt. Why had she thought he would leave? He just wanted to make her happy, right? That’s why he had stormed into the company’s office and taken her back to the condo, right? He wanted her and wasn’t going to let her go away. That’s why he was here now, wanting to build something new with her. To show her that she was important to him, as he was to her. Though she couldn’t yet admit it, Nate was her world now. From the moment he had taken her out of the market and brought her home, she had been his. She was happy maintaining the position, but it frightened her all the same. Would he leave again? Would he expect to go and come and still lay claim? Her head fluttered as she looked at him, long lashes holding back so much more than tears as she looked at him, unable to resist his gentle touches.

When he reminded her that she would have to visit her niece and nephews, she nodded gently, thinking to invite him. When he refused, she frowned gently, her lips forming a small pout. She wouldn’t force him, but she hadn’t wanted to hear his refusal. She gently pressed fingertips to his cheek looking him in the eyes with concern. She wanted him to make up with his brother. She didn’t want the discord between these two strange halves of her family. She needed this man to grow with her, so she could become stronger, just as she’d do for him. When he moved away from her after kissing her cheek, he asked again if she’d want to go shopping. She started to nod her head when he spoke again. This time, he reached out and cupped her cheek, and she blushed, turning her gaze to his eyes only for a moment before casting them away, unable to look at him while he held her so. She pulled back, pushing away his hand and turned from him for a moment, contemplating how to best say what she was trying to formulate. ”I don’t want you to ever go away….Don’t…You don’t get to leave…You can’t leave me behind Nate… you have to take me with you…” And she meant it so much more than simply the physical sense. She meant that in every way possible. She couldn’t be left behind again, or he would surely lose her for good. She frowned gently, then turned, leaning forward to kiss him rather forcefully upon the lips before pulling back and looking up to him, a blush heating her cheeks. She stood there for a moment before turning. ”Let’s go shopping… I need some jeans…I have a feeling these won’t last very long.” She smirked and moved towards the door to slip on her boots. She needed movement now. The conversation was getting too heavy. She needed a chance to process, otherwise, she was certain she’d spill everything she’d been holding onto all the year she’d been alive and she just wasn’t ready to land Nate with all that emotion.

Nate watched her with bright green eyes as she pulled away from his touch. Did she not want him to touch her so much? His eyes darkened as his head tilted in curiosity as he watched her. Did he say something that troubled her? When Adrian had turned and faced him, the werewolf listened to her words closely. A gentle and warm smile appeared on his face as he reached out, taking her hand, and gave it a gentle, reassuring squeeze. Such a silly woman… How could he ever leave her again? Especially after all that had happened? ”I promise that I’ll be by your side. I’m not leaving without you ever again.” Kissing her knuckles, Nate dropped her hand and opened his mouth to ask if she was ready to leave, but he felt a smirk play on his lips. Chuckling softly and shaking his head, he followed her out the door and to the garage. Walking over to the car, the man opened the door for Adrian and closed it once she was comfortably seated inside before rounding to the driver side and getting in himself. Buckling himself in and starting the car, the pair made their way out onto the city streets. During the car ride, Nate started asking questions that he thought were safe, such as how his brother, sister-in-law, and his niece and nephews were. Nate knew that his father and Black were incredibly proud about the triplets, and Adrian had said something about Dimitri being her favorite, and as much as the werewolf wanted to meet them… he just wasn’t ready for that. Not yet anyways. However, he had a feeling that Adrian would give him the courage to meet and talk with his family soon enough.

Pulling into the mall parking lot, Nate went through the process of parking and getting out, and locking the car before walking into the large shopping outlet. ”I’m sure that there will be plenty of stores that we can choose from. If not we will just find more places.” Grinning at her like a schoolboy, Nate grabbed her hand and walked with her side by side into the mall. Looking around and finding a map of the mall, Nate led Adrian over to it. Where to start first? Green eyes scanned over it a few times before looked at the pretty young woman by his side. ”Where do you want to go first? We can go clothes shopping and save the furniture shopping for last?” When she gave her answer, Nate nodded his head in agreement and followed her into the store she was interested in first. ”Now remember, this doesn’t have to be the only store we go in. Whatever you want and wherever you want it from, you get it. Don’t look or even worry about the cost. Now go have fun okay?” Smiling and kissing her forehead, the werewolf watched her and couldn’t help but feel incredibly happy that he could spend the day with her like this.

Whenever his lovely Adrian was finished, Nate took the clothes and paid for them, collecting the bags afterwards. ”We had better get you some shoes as well. Just get whatever you need for any type of occasion. You never know when I might want to take you out to dinner one night.” Giving her a wink, Nate found a shoe store and as Adrian was picking out a pair of shoes, he looked over to see a jewelry shop. Sitting the bags down and making sure that Adrian was okay, he walked over and began searching for the perfect present. Making his purchase and quickly making his way back to the shoe store; Nate made his way back to her side and placed a kiss to her temple. ”Do you have everything that you need?” Smiling down at her, he felt a shiver of longing run up his spine. Taking her hand and pulling it up to his lips, he pressed a kiss to each of her knuckles, nipping the last one as his dark green eyes bore into hers. ”Have I ever told you how tempting you are?” Smirking at her before placing a kiss to the inside of her wrist, he called for an attendant to take her selections up to the counter before he looked back down at her. ”If I haven’t then shame on me… but I find myself wanting to find the nearest dressing room, and locking ourselves in it for a moment or two.” Smirking and squeezing her hand he blew out a sigh. ”I guess I’ll have to wait and be good though right? I’d hate if someone else caught a sigh of your beautiful body…” Grinning like a naughty school boy, the wolf walked over to the counter and gathered the purchases before leading Adrian back to the car.

Opening the door for her before he put all of the bags into the trunk, Nate got into the driver side, and leaned over catching her lips in a passionate kiss. Pressing his forehead against hers, he let out a happy sigh before pulling away. He wanted to hurry and get her home so he could have her all to himself again, but furniture shopping and a quick bite to eat had to come first! He just needed to learn how to be patient. ”Furniture shopping then?” A part of him selfishly wished that Adrian wanted to get home and just hang out, saving the last bit of shopping for the following day, but Nate did promise to take her and he would do whatever she wanted. All he wanted to do was make her happy.
