OMG! I'm such a big freaking dork! gonk crying Ok. I've known Valentine's day was coming, but i had this plan to buy all these little bunches of stuff from the store and put them in those clear bags with the heart designs on them and stuff... well, me the big fat procrastinator i am kept putting it off thinking for some reason i had more time.... crying crying crying
All of a sudden when i woke up this morning, a light went on in my head. I was like.. OH s**t!!!! I HAVE NO VALENTINE'S FOR HIM!!! So, I ran around grabbing the construction paper, markers, and i had to cut out a bunch of hearts and wrote the kids name on them, put them in a big plastic bag and dropped enough dumdum suckers in there to give each kid 2... Dx<
omg... cry cry Now, when all the other kids take their valentine's.. all those parents are gonna think i'm such a load of crap cuz i sent crappy valentine's!!!! gonk I mean.. i know valentine's isn't the biggest day of the year.. but in young school children. i dunno
i just remember last year he got some super cool stuff from some of the other kids. Now, mine is gonna look like I didn't do anythning.. cuz i didn't.
ok. so that's just a little rant from me cuz i am super tripped out...
and now back to your normally scheduled GPG thread..
*grace runs back to her room having the "ooohhnoes of DOOM" and sulks to herself*

Oh don't feel bad Grace, I think valentines mean more when they're made like that. ^_^ I think its shows spontenaity and creativity.
Besides, I would've done the same thing....well, I would've if I didn't boycott Valentine's day.

aw, I happen to think that homemade things are always the best and the sweetest. That and the suckers would ease me over, lol. Seriously, you did more than most would do! I'd just buy the ones where you just sign your name to it for my son. xd

Dude when I was in school Some students would just pass out blank store bought ones.
Now those are some parents who are slackin'
My mom used to make me write everyone's names on them (as soon as I could legibly copy a name from the list)

Yeah... I could just be overly worried... well, he didn't get anything too spiffy this year, so i felt much better. all the boys had given the exact same kind... but last year.. he had some girl in his class.. and her mom had made these cups.. and had pencils, erasers, little candies.. and all kinds of stuff... and they gave them to everyone.
I dunno.. i think when kids are in school.. valentine's are birthdays can always be a kick. cuz other kids like it when at least one person brings something good. I try to always let naaman be that kid. Whenever we get invited to birthday parties, he always goes and takes something good for whoever it's for. Like.. my step dad... his son and DIL almost never want to do stuff with my mom and mark.. but.. when it's their kids birthday.. of course they invite htem and tell them to bring naaman... xp
hehehe.. i was all wound up this morning feeling mortified that i couldn't go back to sleep like i normally do soon as he leaves on the bus... so i went and got caught up in my shop... heh..
maybe i'll just get some stuff when it goes to clearance this year and put it away for next year...

xd Oh no! That made me giggle a bit because I think parents really do feel alot of pressure to perform when it comes to birthdays and holidays. At the same time, I don't think anyone honestly looked at your son's Valentine's and scoffed at them: you're busy and most parents work and don't have time to do more elaborate things.
smile You did good. -pat on the back- And there's always next year to try again.

LOL, at least they get candy there. Ayla's school is running 'healthy holidays'. Its not candy thats given out to the kids at her school anymore, each kid in her class is assigned something to bring in. and they do a valentines lunch. So one kid gets dip, another carrots, a couple get muffins. someone gets buns, cold meat cheese, to another few. And they have a picnic in the classroom for valentines with the little valentine cards.

I feel the big thing is as long as your child has something to hand out. As your child gets older having him/her sign them and or write out the classmate's names on them will make it even more personal.
My daughter is now in grade one and spent some of her homework time each day working on the valentines for her class the week before and adressed and signed each one her own self! She felt very proud of her efforts and her classmates were all happy to go home with their valentines. Sure they like getting candy and stickers and stuff too, but in the end it is just nice to know you have a bunch of friends, and it is good printing practice for your child.
I understand how you feel about being a procrastinator... I am guilty too, but I have found that making a routine for yourself and your child helps. Then you can fit things like writing out valentines into the existing routine, like homework time. (mind you it took me till kid number three to get really good with the routine thing )
