In 7th grade I was still considering myself christian, but was slowly starting to move away from that. I had this interesting dream and I would like help interpreting it.

I was walking along side a river, it was very calm and the color of the water was a muddy brown, as if there had been recent rain fall. The river was surrounded by a forest. As a come near the water's edge, I see a fish swimming in the shallows, it nears the bank as I watch it. It looks up at me and even though the mouth didn't move, I heard it say, follow me, and so I do. Next thin I know I am walking down a set of stairs entering this room in an old stone temple. The walls looked to be a light brown color, there were oil lamps hanging from chains lining the room. The lamps were big metal bowls, chains connected to it on four points. There is a stone table in the middle of the room, I walk over to it and see two symbols at each end. One symbol looked like a fish while the other symbol was a pentacle.
As I walked to the side of the pentacle a saw a man standing at the other end.

He had long hair that stopped just at the shoulder line, his hair was black and slightly curly. His skin was tanned, almost like sand. He wore a grey shirt with what looked to be a black trench coat, from what I would see it stopped just above his knees, and he wore black pants. I couldn't see the color of his eyes but they looked loving and kind. We both put our hands on either side of the symbols on our sides of the table, a bright yellow stone appeared floating in front of the man, the best way to describe it was a sun stone for it looked as if it came from the sun. Sun silver took hold and formed a ring around the stone, then spread out like rays then connected to form another ring, it looked like this,

Afterwards the man then lifted his hands and started making weaving movements, a black cord with a silver aura came out of the air and started to weave itself with the movements of the mans hands, when it was done it looked like this,

It then connected itself to the back of the amulet. Now, the man had never touched the amulet or the cord, it had been floating in mid air this entire time. Now, the man then made one more cord appear then put it through the loop on top of the amulet and tied the ends together, while still not touching it. He then put both hands on either side of the amulet and as if using his energy to hold it, moved it to me and laid the amulet around my neck. After this he put both hands on each of my shoulders and looked at me as if I knew what I was supposed to do next, I then woke up.

I need help trying to figure out what this means, I would like to hear your opinions and comments and your thoughts.

Hmm. Sounds like one of Jung's "Big Dreams", the ones that stick with you.

Only you can decide what the dream meant, but here is a rather Jungian interpretation (with bits of myth and magic thrown in).

Seeing Jesus or a Christ-like figure in your dreams usually means you need to stay strong, or that your goals are about to be realized, you just have to go a little further. It could also mean you are about to overcome a difficult struggle.

The Celtic knot is endless--a symbol of something cyclical. It has no beginning, and no end. The wheel of life. Life itself. A symbol of eternity.

A river indicates that you are going with the flow--you are going along with life's current, and you'll need to take a more active role, or possibly make a big decision.

Fish swimming represent unconscious thoughts that need to come the surface. It can also represent a desire for conception. The fish is an ancient symbol of fertility in many cultures.

The sunstone could represent the actual sun--enlightenment, tranquility, energy, divine power (male AND female). I can only guess that the silver around it might be a representation of the moon--which represents a hidden, mysterious aspect of yourself. Silver itself is a symbol of justice and purity.

Make of it what you will. I hope this helps.

Gah, forgot--to wear a necklace in your dream means there is an unsatisfied task or desire you need to fulfill. It can also be a symbol of power and strength--especially feminine power and strength.

Are you good at interpreting dreams? I sometimes need someone who can do that.

I'm good at helping. I was taught by a woman who is a good friend of my moms, and what I know is MOSTLY based on Jungian interpretation, with some other elements as well. I was told by the woman who taught me that it's up to the person who HAD the dream to make the final interpretation.

I am pretty good with symbolism and Jungian interpretations though. At least, I've been told my insights have been helpful. I would be more than happy to help you out, if you like.

I have always viewed dreams as the brain talking to itself, so mostly I can interpret my own dreams but occasionally I have dreams that leave me thinking, "Brain, have you lost our frigging mind?" Then I like to get a second opinion.

I will although I don't actually remember many of my dreams.

If anyone has anything else they would like to add that would be wonderful, it will only help in my search for the meaning behind this dream.

Brown- color of stability, grounding, connecting with nature, the security of a home.
Rain fall- new life, new beginning, washing away of the old, purifying.
River- a path you are following, life.
Gentle currents- can choose your direction without much struggle.
Forest- life, a home, shelter.
Fish- A guide, the fish somehow lead me to the temple.
Old Stone Temple- Tradition, culture, history, knowing where one came from.
Oil Lamps- Eternal flame, to light the way, allowing sight where it would be hard to see.
Symbols on the Table- Representation of who stands at the table, dealing with the true self.
The Man- Represents Jesus (That was the name that came to me as soon as I saw him)
Black- Abyss, endlessness, absorbing the old, moving on, West.
Putting hands on the table on each side of symbols- Showing peace, and channeling power in to our respective symbols.
Yellow- Happiness, Joy, East.
The Sun- Warmth, love, light, power, life giving, fire, hearth, fatherly, male, harshness.
Stone- to be able to carry, to harness, to connect with.
Silver- Gentleness, purity, caring, motherly, female, moon, a guiding light, calm, water, nurturer.
Together as a Amulet- balancing the two aspects, joining together as one, together gives life.
Cord- strength, binding, togetherness.
The Knot- Eternity, never ending, many twists and turns in the decision made, but no escaping of the decision.
Being Connected to the Amulet- The decision of life never ending, combined with the balance, needing balance in a major life decision to come.

I now understand what this dream is talking about, not only of my moving on from one religious aspect to another, but the moving on with my life, needing to harness the power of the sun using the power of the moon (which is truly represented by silver, thank you Nerdanel_Caitlin) The fish was a temporary animal guide to lead me to where I needed to be passed this message, the gifting of the necklace is like a recognition of aging, moving up in my knowledge, given a position.
Soon I would make a decision that would change my life and the gentle currents would no longer be gentle, for once this decision is made, there is no turning back, no other direction but forward.
I am no longer a maiden but now a mother, the dream was telling me of a decision that would be facing me and if I chose it what aspects I would need and how to make sure I have those aspects to raise a child.
Thank you all who have helped, it got my mind moving to see what the dream was telling me.
