Cybernetics have increased longevity and health in humanity since its induction, first originating on Earth back in 2045. The technology today is far more advanced, yet not without its issues. With the Empire pushing citizens to get such cybernetic implants, complications have arisen. Rejection can cripple a patient, and steady doses of anti-rejection medication must be taken each week in patients who have not fully become symbiotic with their implants, which is around 98.99 percent of all humans with cybernetics. They are also clunky compared to the models left behind by the Empire when it departed Earth. They break down, or cause psychosis and death as side effects from unusual syncing with nerves, and death from failure of a cybernetic to work properly is higher then the public knows.
But, aside from all their flaws, this technology enables humanity to do more then it ever thought possible. Life without the boon of such tech is unthinkable.
With the advent of new cybernetic technology being discovered recently, more advanced models of cybernetics are now available. They are more expensive, but they are far better then the models currently in use, and far safer, due to the new compound developed that erases rejection and all other possible side effects. This new compound is also very expensive, and people wishing to upgrade themselves with new technology have to speak to the Lord Surgeon General, as well as jump through a few hoops for him...
Simply put, with the advanced cybernetics, one can upgrade themselves as much as they wish, with no dangers, save for the fact that they become increasingly vulnerable to EMP weapons and electrical attacks.

Cybernetics-Models
First Generation Cybernetics: Bulky, inefficient, prone to breaking down, and 99.9 percent of the population experiences some rejection or loss of nerve sync, resulting in weekly regimens of medication for both. Based on designs brought from Earth before the founding of the Riiamar government that became the Empire. Available to everyone, cheaper then Second Gen models, easily replaced or fixed by the owner, and the only type available to new characters.
Second Generation Cybernetics: Discovered by chance in the Delta Labs, these advanced models are the epitome of perfection. They appear to be an exact copy of whatever limb or organ that is replaced, just made of machinery. They are extremely durable, have no chance for rejection or loss of nerve syncing, and have combat models available. Only available for large amounts of credits, and after doing favors for the Lord Surgeon General of Medios.
