Once again, her shoulders rolled into a shrug. "Yeah, I was one of the three females in the end, but he chose one of the other girls. She's a little too vain for my tastes though, but it was his choice, not mine."
A playful grin came over her face. "Oh, so it was too quiet while I was gone? Does that mean that you're saying you missed me?"

"Erm... Yeah... Was too quiet, you bring more life into this place" he mumbles looking at the floor and blushing slightly" Thom was not sure exactly what to say, did she have a choice to try to become one of the faun leader's brides? Did she actually try with all her might? Was it something she had actually wanted? He had all these questions and no courage to ask them.

"It's a good thing I didn't get chosen in the end though. I have a job that's going to require me to be away from the tree, so taking a husband, especially one as important as Rais, wouldn't have been well. I think Rais chose well though, since the two of them seem to get along." She gave a heavy sigh, then reached up to him.
"I need a hug, Thom." The expression on her face was one of exhausted sorrow. The re-encounter with her son had made her realize how much she'd wished she'd been able to be part of his life.

Thom nodded slowly and wordlessly, inside he felt a little crestfallen, though he did his best to hide it from her. "Well if they get along, that's the most important thing" he tells her quietly. "A mate is something not on your agenda then, especially now" he takes a deep breath and then pulls her into a hug, "Hugs incoming" he adds

"I don't think I could take a mate on even without everything that has happened..." She smiled softly. "Too much baggage for a normal man to burden."
The warmth and security she received from his embrace caused her to tighten her hold on him and bury her face against his chest. "I saw my son while I was there... he's grown into a fine young man, and he has no clue that I am his mother." She confessed to Thom. "It was for the best, but I wish I could have helped raise him. I wish I knew more about him...."

Thom blinks and pulls back a little so he can see her face "Your son?" he blinks more and his brow goes up. "Since when do you have a son?" Thom as confused, he had no idea the woman he lived with bore any children at all.

Ama's face turned red and her head snapped down as she stared intently at the floor; my those rocks sure were interesting. "He.... It's a long story, but the father wanted nothing to do with me. Instead, he wanted his mate to raise the child and I let him because he was an infuriating rude jerk." She still refused to look up to meet Thom's eyes; this was embarassing, especially since only one other person outside the family knew this.

Thom stared at her silently for a moment before speaking "Ama look at me, please" he says softly and he waits for her to look up, when she finally did he takes a deep breathe "I'm not gonna hold anything against you as a parent, I honestly don't have any right to, I gave up a child to their mother when we broke up, and lost another when I went to the mountains. What matters is that we love them here" he taps a finger against her upper chest where her heart is

A very small smile came over her face, and Ama leaned against him, closing her eyes. "I wish I could say that makes me feel better, but I still feel like I should have done something. I just... I don't know. I was too young, hell I still am I guess."
Then there was all the confusion that was still in the outskirts of her mind. The voice of Vanya whispering through, reminding her of everything that she'd rather not think of. She was thankful Thom couldn't read the muddled mess of what her mind consisted of.

He smirks slightly "You trying to remind me of my age?" he moves to sit pulling her to sit down beside him. He watched her not knowing about her confusion but it didn't matter. He himself had inner doubts and fears he'd not shared with her at all.

She allowed herself to be pulled down beside him, and brought her legs up while curling against his side. "Hey, if I wanted to remind you of your age, I'd call you something along the lines of 'old fart' or 'grampa' or something." She gave him a wry smile, oblivious to know that he was holding back as much from her as she was from him.
"So what DID you do while I was gone anyways?"
