Our school literally starts bandcamp by the start of Summer. We had weekly 4 hour sectionals throughout summer. Then all day rehearsals and camp during the Month of August. Then a preview performance.
How does your program run summer/bandcamp ?

Ours is a lot more lax. We start out the summer with 3 hour practices twice a week and maybe an hour long weekly sectional, depending on the section leader. Band camp starts and lasts a week at the end of July, which is when the schedule is: eat, field, eat, music, teambuilding, eat, field, activity, sleep, repeat for seven days. After band camp, we get four hour practices and sectionals are more important and last longer.
Our preview show is usually the evening of one of the days of the first week of school.

In all honesty I don't know this year because I was at drum corps with my band director all summer, so I'm assuming without him home, we just had band camp (I attended that). We have a very lax band program lol. And we still kick a**.

At band camp we only had six and a half hours of marching with an hour sectional every day, and the rest of the rehearsals were either two and a half or three hours a day, plus hour sectionals twice a week...

College band camp was the week before school started. My high school band camp was only a week long, too (tended to be two weeks before school started, and then there was a week off. Idk why; I think that's kinda dumb...)

This year was a lot more lax then past years due to a new director, which is really surprising because we were already pretty laid back.
This year, we had band camp at the start of august, lasting 5days from 8:30am-6 pm. The freshman had 2 extra days the week before that only lasted until noon, and then they had the weekend off before full band camp. We had one week between school and bandcamp, and had our first rehearsal that tuesday in between. That lasted, like every tuesday rehearsal, from 6-8pm.

Holy crap some programs are much laid back o .o , Ours is like a preparation for big competitions like BOA Regionals. I kinda don't like it when High School bands get wayy too competitive , this is not drum corps though our band director claims that he doesn't care about trophies , our school had 3 Regional titles in a row til last year.

We don't get to do BOA. We just go at state level competitions. And our state doesn't have many good bands. In previous years, we have had reading bands about 4 times during th summer, whichw ere just 3-4 hour music rehearsals, but they were never mandatory. We used to have bandcamp for the same amount of time, but freshman days would go til sometime between 3-5, and full band would go until 10pm, starting at 8:30 each.

When I was in high school, we'd start on the first Monday in August, 7:30 to 11:00 marching and 12:30-4:30 music or something like that. My 1st/2nd year had auditions Wednesday of the first week during marching time while music stayed the same. Jr./Sr. year moved them to Friday of the first week without an afternoon rehearsal. Either first or second Friday was registration (always at night, so it didn't conflict with rehearsal, although second Friday is always off). The third week was 4:30 to 8:30 PM rehearsals due to staff development in the mornings with our preview performance on Friday. There was also a freshman orientation/pep rally performance somewhere in the second or third week in the morning that didn't interfere with the afternoon rehearsal.
Side notes: 1. There was occasionally rehearsals right after school let out the previous year (freshman camp, then one full band day), although it wasn't consistent. 2. The third week changed this year due to heat, but I wasn't there so I didn't care.
My first year of college is/was basically Saturday (August 20) 12:00-9:00, Sunday 1:00-9:00, Monday 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM, Tuesday 8AM-10PM, Wednesday 8AM-5:30PM, Thursday 12:30PM-1:50PM, Friday 12PM-12:50PM and 6PM-9PM, Saturday (August 27) 8AM-11:30AM.
Side notes: 1. There were some breaks thrown in there somewhere. 2. Sunday was Music auditions in the morning, Marching fundamentals at night followed immediately by marching auditions at 8:00. 3. School started Thursday, so that was regular class time. 4. Saturday the 27th was originally 8AM-5PM.
