There are few things that I require in order to join this squad, but the few things that I DO require, are going to be things that can in some circumstances be hard to live up to.
1: I require literacy of any applicant. I know that the guild itself is a pretty literate place, but I require a sample to be PMed to me personally so I can grade your skill and see if you belong here or not. To those of you who do not make it, please do not take it personally, it is not meant as an insult or a stab at you personally.
2: Don't just join this squad because it was your second choice and number one didn't work out. Go elsewhere for that.
3: This squad in the manga didn't really explain any specific role for the Eighth, so I have created my own, and if you like the idea of it, than come on down and give the Eighth a go, if not, well I am sure we will still see you around and RP with you. xD The specifics of the squad are as follows:
The Eighth Division has been modeled by Gerard Jackson as a division that focuses upon the spirits of their Zanpakuto and the bonds between the user and the spirits. This bond promotes knowledge of not only the weapon they use, but every possibly use that the spirit may teach the user as well. The people who excel in this training will find they will have unfound ability with their blades comparatively to the regular shinigami, and may even work their way to bankai or Shikai faster than the average shinigami as well. No member of the Eighth Division "uses" their weapons. The "partner" with them, and that is the purpose of the division. A squad of shinigami who are 100% knowledgeable of the weapon and soul that they are life partners with. To achieve greater potential and further release of the weapon faster than the average pace.
As such, your character should be built around that sort of thinking, or merely have the character not built around it, but instead find that the squad teaches them something new and then they become based around it, either way, that is what the squad members are expected and will be trained around. If you don't like it, then I suppose it is not the Squad for you.
4: Gerard, your captain. Is a very lazy b*****d. And easy going. You will probably get away with a lot if you join this squad. *shifty eyes* Just saying.
