Goldenrod City is the largest city in the Johto region and the third gym is here. It is the third biggest city in the Pokémon World. Despite its size, it lacks any extrordinary importance other than containing the 3rd Gym Leader Whitney and, being home to the Global Terminal. Later the Radio Tower is taken over by Team Rocket.
It also has a Magnet Train which connects Johto and Kanto by starting in Goldenrod and ending in Saffron City.
The town is known as A Happening Big City seeing as it is the largest city in Johto as stated above.

The lone bicycle shop in Johto is located in an isolated neighborhood in east Goldenrod, where business doesn't seem to be doing very good.
