I say for black metal, you have to listen to Graveworms "Scorge of Malice" album and "nUtopia" Sanctity within Darkness being a particular favirote on the SOM album. And The machine on the latter. Id also recommend listining to Cellos for the insatiable by Agathodaimon. Alithough the rest of the album does not reflect the same level of beauty as this song, I feel I have to intorduce it. "Dark funeral" are fun too, though I couldn't say I could recommend a particular song. Ablaze my Sorrow is another must listen to, I feel. Though IN America this band MAY be popular, you have to remember Im from the UK, so the only real metal over hear thats mainstream would be whatvever played on scuzz till our ears bleed. ew. 'Witchery'n are nice to listen to aswell. Though there recent and for crist sake only album that seems to appear in shop certainly isnt't there best stuff. Id reccomend buying things form Camdens 'Metal milita' Store.(Null and void if Your not living in the UK)
Please people. Can we not turn this into a sub genre arguement. If you really want to know, See what the band themselves class themselves as...alot of them have myspaces.
These are only my opinions here, feel free to take or leave.

I second the motions in favor of Satyricon, Anorexia Nervosa and Graveworm. The 3 of them are very good bands. 3nodding
