Following the destruction of Uzushiogakure, Hikari’s parents found refuge in Konohagakure. At the age of 6, her father was killed during a mission, and shortly thereafter her mother gave in to depression and committed suicide. After this she lived alone, provided a comfortable life by the Third Hokage, and worked on nothing other than refining her shinobi skills, especially fuinjutsu, as passed down by her clan. She graduated from the Academy at age 8, became a chunin at age 9, and a jonin at age 12. Because she is a formidable kunoichi who has a rare specialty, the elders don’t like to send her out too far or too often, thus it may be argued that she lacks experience compared to fellow jonin, but is often assigned A and S rank missions for her abilities. Though she is more than capable of becoming an ANBU, she refuses to let go of her identity, holding on to being one of the last few remnants of a gifted clan. Due to her sordid past she denies close relationships and prefers to keep to herself. She is willing to help others but maintains an aloof attitude and it is rare to see her show any emotion. Despite what has happened she bears no ill will and ultimately works towards peace so that no other child has to endure what she did.
