This is a private roleplay between Xiu [Honey] and Bataar [kaya], please do not post! SettingIt's been a while since Xiu has met with Bataar and he seeks out the other lunarian once again.

This was going to be impossible. Xiu sighed and leaned against a nearby tree, wiping the sweat from his brow. It had been nearly an hour since he'd started for the woods. He'd had high hopes, but as more minutes passed, his expectations were dwindling rapidly. He'd been so excited when he heard about Bataar's yurt hiding in the woods that he had set off without much thought.
Pushing off from the tree, Xiu continued on, wondering when he would stop being so impulsive. It was a boyish trait that he still couldn't seem to curb, no matter how many hours of meditation he put in. Even after his stay at a far away temple for the last couple of months hadn't seemed to have any impact on his, sometimes rash, decisions. It was too late now to think about walking back home though. Xiu had committed and he was damn well going to follow through, even if it took him the rest of the night. He wanted to find Bataar and prove to the older man that he wasn't just a small, youthful child anymore. Xiu wasn't sure what had spurred this need, but, as always, he remember Bataar as the epitome of strength. If the other lunarian could recognize Xiu's own abilities, then he, Xiu, could perhaps find some kind of closer on the earlier parts of his life.
Now, all Xiu had to do was FIND the object of his search. Panting a little heavily as the heat of the noonday sun started to beat on him through the trees, Xiu took frequent breaks until finally he removed his outer robe and tied it about his waist. A bit cooler, he traipsed through the underbrush and nearly tripped and killed himself on something sticking out of the ground.
"What in the world?" Growling to himself, Xiu looked down to see what had caught him up and ended up looking closer. His slippered shoe sifted through some gray ash, knocking against a few bits of old fire wood. That's when Xiu looked about the area for the first time. Along with the small fire pit, a bit of the ground had cleared away and a few small saplings were broken. Xiu groaned at the sight, slumping to the ground. Either this was just some very old campsite or Bataar had been here. Xiu didn't know which, but if it was the latter, he knew Bataar could be long gone now.

Bataar was strolling through the woods, unaware of Xiu's epic quest-- he toted along a wooden bow identical to the one he'd used as a fighter and was currently trying to locate some small animals to kill for lunch. Not being able to cook had ultimately been very crippling for the Mongol and so he was often stuck hunting and roasting his kill over a fire, doing his best to avoid small bones and such(although he had been known to nearly choke to death now and again).
He had relocated his yurt in the forest fairly recently, but hadn't been pleased with the hunting opportunities surrounding him. The man had been much better off in the last clearing he'd inhabited which he was now in search of-- there were usually quite a few squirrels around that area, at the very least and there might be a larger animal if he were lucky. Wild turkeys were the best, but they tended to be a pain in the a** to catch or shoot and he could have sworn that a few living in the forest recognized him by now and ran away just upon hearing his heavy footfalls. That was probably why he needed to break down and learn how to cook things like rice, which were sold very cheaply in the marketplace within the Imperial City.
It took the captain a while, but he finally located his old clearing, which he stomped into with an expression of faint regret coloring his features. Perhaps he should move back to this place-- it was very nice, after all. During these musings, however, he noted the presence of someone else and readied his bow faster than he could recognize the other man. He soon lowered it, however, upon coming to the conclusion that he knew the soul conduit.
"Xiu?" the captain asked, his head tilting slightly. He hadn't seen the other Lunarian since he'd been a student and it was a surprise to see him now, looking quite a bit older. "What are you doing here?" This forest didn't tend to see much in the way of anyone but Bataar and those who came to find him, after all.

While Xiu was quickly contemplating giving up the search entire, a loud rustling in the foliage had him snapping his head up in surprise. Instantly alert, Xiu jumped to his feet and whirled to face whatever was in the bushes. It was loud enough to be Bai, but the tiger was usually a lot more quiet. Already Xiu was gathering his energies for defense and nearly let loose when he saw the arrow pointed at his face.
Heart pounding madly in his chest, Xiu blinked when the weapon was lowered and realized for the first time who was on the end of it. Bataar looked the same as ever, still very tall and very intimidating looking. Xiu didn't think he smelled much better either, but it had been a long time and his nose could be wrong.
"Bataar!" Xiu sputtered after the captain at voiced is own surprise. "What are YOU doing here? I've been looking all over for you. I thought I'd never find you," he prattled rapidly as he moved towards the other with a big smile on his face. "How are you Bataar? It's been a while."

Bataar had to admit that he was really very surprised at Xiu's presence. He felt somewhat like a troll guarding a bridge, too, upon seeing the other man's expression upon noting that his bow and arrow were directed at him. Unfortunately, Xiu wasn't food, but he was quite a bit more interesting that meals tended to be and so Bat felt that he could tolerate the difference. He bent down to set his bow on the ground in order to empty his hands since he could tell that he was probably in for some sort of conversation. It had, after all, been quite some time since they'd last seen each other.
"You've been looking for me?" he asked, trying not to look too pleased that he apparently had a visitor. He didn't get many, here, and it was only half because his yurt tended to be so complicated to find. Over the years it had become harder and harder to retain friends, so he would be glad to speak to Xiu, he supposed. The only people he talked to these days tended to be the fighters in his company or his superiors. It was refreshing to see another face.
In any case, he'd pause his hunting for this. "I'm well-- but why've you been searching for me?" he questioned, gesturing to two fairly wide tree stumps a few feet from each other in the clearing before he seated himself upon the bigger of the two. He was curious to know why he had the pleasure of seeing a rather exhausted-looking Xiu today. Beyond that, maybe Xiu even knew how to cook, and Bat wouldn't mind a meal if he could drag the soul conduit back to his yurt.
For the time being, Bataar doubted that he was about to starve to death, anyway.

Xiu was pleased when he wasn't immediately written off. Bataar didn't seem too upset in being interrupt from...whatever he was doing and Xiu was much too happy to care about anything other than the fact that'd he had actually completed his mission. It didn't matter that he'd probably nearly been shot at either.
"I'm glad to hear you're well." Slowly Xiu followed Bataar to the stumps, sitting when the man motioned him to do so. It was stranger, sitting by the larg captain. It brought back a lot of memories for Xiu and he was suddenly very embarrassed when Bataar asked him his reasons for his search. Now that he thought of it, trying to prove himself to Bataar, a lunarian whom he'd met a long time ago, was a bit childish. Yet again, it seemed that Xiu couldn't escape a bit of his old self.
With a heavy sigh, Xiu cupped his chin in his palm and crossed his leg. "It's actually kind of stupid, honestly. I'm not sure why I did it in the first place. I just immediately thought of you." Xiu was mostly just talking to himself, trying to figure out exactly how to explain to Bataar is sudden impulse. Thinking about it also made him wonder what Bataar thought of him now and Xiu wondered why he even cared. He supposed it was because Sakn still seemed to think of him as someone who needed to be protected. Perhaps it was Sakn's opinion of him that was the crux of things.
"Well, I wanted to have a fight with you," Xiu finally said, his voice a bit louder, a bit bolder. "I looked up to you so much when I was a student that I thought, if I just had a fight with you, I'd finally be an adult." He sighed again, scrubbing his fingers through his blond hair. "Like I said. It's stupid."

Bataar had never really considered himself the most insightful of people, and probably wouldn't mind what Xiu had planned in searching for him. He glanced amiably at the soul conduit and offered a smile that he hoped was encouraging, although it would probably look more like he was baring his teeth at the other Lunarian. Looks aside, he really was happy that Xiu had come to find him-- it could get lonely in the forest at times and he was pleased to have company, even if it had interrupting his hunting.
He nodded as the younger man responded, watching his hesitation with some degree of curiosity. The captain wasn't honestly sure what to expect when Xiu mentioned that his seeking Bat out was stupid-- still, this could turn out to be a good thing, in any case. "Well, what is it?" he asked, his expression still open as he place his hands on his knees and waited for the Lunarian to respond. Whatever he was here for, it couldn't be that bad.
Or could it?
The Mongol stared, dumbfounded, as Xiu announced that he wanted to have a fight. "Is that really a good idea?" he asked in the most diplomatic manner possible, glancing down at his muscular bulk in comparison to Xiu's slender frame. He was flattered, really, but fighting soul conduits was not his idea of fun-- they were sneaky little bastards, as far as Bat was concerned, although he knew he needn't worry that Xiu would do anything too underhanded.
In short, it wasn't a good idea, but he wasn't completely against it, either. After all, how bad could it be? He wouldn't take his sword out or anything if they were to fight. "If that's what you want, though, I'm up to it." he finally said, hints of hesitation showing through in his voice. Clearly he was also thinking that Xiu was a bit on the delicate side for his style of fighting.

Xiu was feeling a little more fortified by Bataar's expression. The man didn't seem to against it and he didn't outright laugh at him. To be honest, Xiu was expecting it. It was something that Sakn would have done if he was feeling chipper. Being laughed at had never sat well with Xiu and he wanted to be able to prove to his lover that he COULD stand up for himself.
He was about to explain further when Bataar's words hit him a hammer in the head. "Not a good idea?" Xiu echoed in confusion. How could it not be? Sure, Bataar was strong, but then, Xiu thought himself to be as well. At Bataar's obvious, comparing glance, Xiu turned beat red. Okay, so he wasn't all muscular like Bat or Sakn. Sure he didn't carry around a weapon while he whooped and hollered like a idiot. SURE he was small, but he knew he could fight!
"I think it's a perfectly good idea," Xiu began, trying to keep his voice as even as possible. "I'm not a complete failure as a soul conduit, you know. We could even make a little bet." Did Bataar like wagers? Most manly men that Xiu had met, did. Perhaps if he could entice Bataar in some other manner then the man would be more inclined to battle.

Bataar had to admit that he wasn't entirely certain about this-- he was, after all, offering to someone who was his near opposite when it came to style. The behemoth was more into melee-style fighting, which was extremely close-range and damaging to both opponents(although he generally emerged as the victor). That was clearly not the sort of fight he could have with Xiu if he consented to this; it was too violent for the likes of any soul conduit.
He was surprised to find that Xiu actually seemed shocked upon his mentioning that it wasn't the best of ideas. "Well, I mean..." the Mongol trailed off and glanced away for a moment, knowing that there were no other words-- it really wasn't a good idea to enter into this fight. The fact that he didn't enjoy fighting soul conduits in the first place ought to have been an indicator, but the challenge was almost too hard to resist. After all, he'd be in trouble if Xiu went around the Imperial City mentioning that he'd been refused a fight by Bat.
The captain gnawed on his lip as his eyes traveled back to what he might now have to consider his opponent. "A bet?" he asked, not much for gambling but knowing that it was a fairly manly thing to do(so it must be right down his alley). Xiu had at least caught his attention a little better this time around, and he knew he'd be waiting to hear just what the other man had in mind. It might be a bet that he couldn't refuse.
As reluctant as Bataar still was to fight, he was beginning to realize that it might be inevitable. Xiu might try to attack even if he refused, mainly because that would be an unforgivable sort of insult, even for a soul conduit. In short, he was absolutely stuck here.

Xiu was staring at Bat intently, completely serious. He wanted to do this. He HAD to do this. Even if Bataar pummeled him into a fine pulp, at least Xiu would be able to say that he fought the mongolian. It was a kind of right of passage to him. Even though he'd ball kicked Sakn, the redhead still saw him as a person to be protected. It was stifling to say the least and Xiu wanted to be able to do the protect sometime.
"Please Bataar?" Xiu asked, his voice slightly plaintive. "I'm not afraid of being hurt and I honestly have no hope for winning against you, but I want to do it." If Bataar said no and was completely earnest about it, then Xiu would leave it at that and never mention it again. He wasn't about to try and engage Bat if the man wasn't up for it and he would never hold it over Bat's head.
"As for the bet, if I win, you have to...give me something important to you. If you win, I'll do whatever you want, barring killing or sex or anything of that ilk." Xiu smiled slightly at Bataar and nearly patted the man's shoulder companionably, but managed to stop himself short. There was so much more he wanted to say, but didn't think that Bat would appreciate the sudden, emotional, conversation that would likely take place. He just wanted to fight the captain, that was all. So, Xiu waited, gazing at Bataar patiently as he waited for his answer.

Bataar had no understanding of Xiu's compulsion to fight, but he wasn't about to refuse. After all, refusing a fight would give him a bad name as far as he could see. The captain considered it for a moment before nodding to himself, deciding that he ought to agree. The soul conduit seemed very eager, after all, and he'd never failed not to take on a fight or battle of any sort. It simply wasn't manly, after all.
Besides, how could he refuse? Xiu was practically begging to for a fist in the face-- there was no denying that. "Well..." he acted as if he were deep in thought, rubbing his chin as he did so. The longer he could keep Xiu on edge, the better. It was just so clear that the soul conduit wanted a fight that he didn't think he was even capable of denying it. All the same, he had to at least act like he was giving this some thought before he attempted to do any damage. That was the right thing to do.
He shot the other man an odd look as he brought up the bet. "Xiu, that's stupid." he huffed, looking sincere about the fact that he believed it was. There weren't that many things that were important to Bat that weren't absolutely integral to him, although he didn't want to seem at all like he wasn't sure of winning.
No, he'd definitely have to go along with it. It was that thought that caused his fist to to fly through the air, straight at Xiu's face. A battle simply wasn't a battle if he didn't start with the face, after all. "I just hope you know you're going down." he jeered.
