Advent Humans
Since ancient times there have often been people on earth who are able to perform extraordinary abilities unexplained by people throughout the ages. Sometimes worked deep into myths, and other times nothing more than urban legends are often the only traces of Advent Humans over generations. However, it is only a very small percentage of this group that will ever realize their potential for a spiritual change.
Advent Humans have long been able to associate the influence of strong spiritual entities, such as themselves, hollows and shinigami. Though they run by the shinigami idea of reiatsu to bring power out from themselves, Advent Humans are typically far less spiritually dense and thus have evolved to draw energy from strong entities and places of high spiritual activity. Places of high spiritual activity are, or have been, major passageways of spiritual activity for one reason or another throughout history.
Advent Humans have been labelled as prophets, gods, lunatics and pariahs in the past, but in the modern age, their paranormal abilities and claims to see the dead are enough to cause them to be sent to an insane asylum, a government lab or both.
Hence, Advent Humans who want to operate do so discreetly, trying to keep a difficult balance of maintaining secrecy while still protecting the living from the dead. Their lack of knowledge of Soul Society, Hollows and the nature of their own powers makes this a difficult prospect at best and many do not survive the first few days after their Awakening without a guide to help them. However, once their powers are cultivated, their skills can rival or surpass the pure, spiritual beings.
Present-day Advent Humans
Since the recent attacks on Tokyo, the spiritual density surrounding these battle sites is high and more and more Advent Humans have been appearing. Students at the local high school ( Karakura High) have been among the highest affected and the underground rumors and scandals involved in around the school have the younger generation paranoid, excited, and scared. Orpheus, now an underground congregation of a once proud establishment, is always keeping its eyes out on the city and aiding humans finding themselves with spectacular powers by enrolling them in their ranks. However, Orpheus is not the only group acquiring talented humans. Cerberus is a conglomerate looking to figure out the process to human evolution. They’re always seeking out humans with special abilities to text the limits of the human body in hopes of discovering the key to progression.
Each group acts independently with one another, though members of each the two “adult groups” are aware of the other’s existence. Meanwhile, the teenagers at Karakura are, on average, oblivious to the world around them. In past times, the groups have banded together to fight off particularly dangerous threats, but due to intervention on the behalf of shinigami many memories of those times has disappeared. Currently, tensions between the individual factions have emerged; however, the fate of the groups is still undetermined.

3.) Advent Human Statistic Overview - a.) Advent Human Stats
Part One Advent Human Introduction
- a.) What is an Advent Human? 'Advent Human' is the term applied to humans that, through prolonged exposure to high amounts of reiatsu, have developed a spiritual awareness. Unlike shinigami and vizards, whose energy is mainly from their own bodies, or quincies who draw from the outside world, advents are a mix of both. They are capable of drawing energy from the surroundings, however are able to directly manifest their power in their bodies.
Depending on the relationships that the human has, their reiatsu may have an affinity to a certain race. As such, advents with strong hollow influences, may have their reiatsu take on a darker feel, while shinigami-influenced humans may have a purer aura.
- b.) Why Become an Advent Human? Advent humans are a completely unique type of race. With no collective unity or complete knowledge of the spiritual world, they shed a new light on the conflicts of the spiritual world. Yes, this means one key point in being an advent: Ignorance. Ignorance is the keystone of being an advent. Starting out, you have about zero knowledge about how the spiritual world works. An advent can gleam more information as their strength and their interactions increase; however, it will never be the full picture.
This ignorance is a huuuuuuuuuge part of being an advent. What many newbies and olds switching to AHs for the first time suffer from is “Wikipedia Syndrome”. That is, through a single interaction or chapter the human automatically learns about everything from the nature of hollows, to the existance of Soul Society to what the Soutaichou’s favorite flavor of tea is. The ignorance of the Advent Human is one of the best part of being an AH. The fun of a human is writing how your character reacts to the rapidly expanding world around them. Where’s the fun in that if they know everything from the start? Another great part of being an AH is the sheer type of abilities your character can have! Passive abilities, aggressive, support, defensive, every type can be represented in an AH’s ability set.
- c.) What Powers can I have? Advent humans, like shinigami have three distinctive release levels. The first is the Initial Awakening (IA), this stage is more like a precursor stage to the Advent’s awakening. This stage allows the Advent to have a one-time use of one of their First Stage skills (explained soon).
The next powers that the advent gets is their First Stage (FS). This is equivalent to a shinigami’s shikai. This power is the abilities of the advent human manifested through their body. For most advents, this is their bread and butter, using it to combat the dangers around them.
When an Advent has truly matured (spiritually, emotionally is a whole different thing), their powers reach their pinnicle. At this level, they are able to access their True Awakening (TA). This level mimicks the shinigami’s Bankai, except True Awakening has no limit to its duration! When achieved, this overrides the human’s FS, which means you aren’t going to be access those abilities ever again. Unlike bankai, True Awakening solely alters pre-existing First Stage abilities and concepts, instead of giving the human a whole new set of skills.
- d.) Do I have to join a group? For Advent Humans, you have a few choices. You can join Cerberus, which is a private business, focused on the evolution of the human race. While some may find their methods morally gray, agents of the company are often completely loyal to the group. Orpheus is another choice; this group is a government run, underground group which has recently returned to its past glory. Their main goals are the protection of humans from the hollow thread. Not a fan of either group? The go independent, as you attempt to combat the situation around you! If those three don’t work for you, then join Karakura High. Karakura High is the local highschool, as the awakened and non-awakened teenagers go through their daily teenage lives. Innocent (well most of them, you know teenagers) they attempt to learn about the world around them, as their daily lives slowly begin to intersect with the spirit world. You'll find out more information on the groups in the next section.
- e.) What do I get to do? When you start out, your main goal is to try to understand exactly what all the commotion is about. As you grow, and you begin to interact with other characters, you can learn more about the spiritual world. The back and forth between the vizards, quincies, humans and shinigami will keep you occupied quite well. As plot developments occur, knowledge and actions with the outside worlds can change what Advents can react to.
- f.) Where can I go? A place with 7 continents, 5 oceans and a country called Finland. As an AH, normally you’re confined to Earth. Most of the important things happen in Japan, Tokyo specifically. However, as your plot dictates you can travel all around the world. However, even with all this room to run around, there’s no American Airlines flights to Soul Society. As plot events occur, humans can travel to places like Las Noches, though don’t expect them to stay around there for too long.
- g.) Advent Human Relations with Other Races
Shinigami - In the past, Shinigami-Human relations have had their ups and downs. Through times of hostility, peace and avoidance, the spectrum of relations is wide. Currently, shinigami have taken a let them live and do whatever they want type of policy, as long as it does not directly threaten the secrecy of Soul Society and their affairs, however with current events, suspicions with the actions of humans such as Orpheus and Cerberus have arisen.
Theoretically Advents can defeat hollows with no negative repercussions, however, if a shinigami spots an advent combating a hollow, they are obligated to assist and then immediately erase said memory.
Vizards - More often than not, Vizards see Advents as nothing more than tools. Their impressionable nature and knowledge of Earth make them targets for attempts to use them. Currently, the vizard imperator has taken to using the information network of the Cerberus Corporation to expand his own control. This relationship is similar to most vizard-human reactions. While some may be great friends with the humans, others take a more “buisness” tone with the advents.
Quincies - A broken race, quincy relations vary as much as shinigami. Some bloodlines see human’s as direct threats to their needs, while others create powerful partnerships with humans. Many of the younger generation go to school with advents, even if the advents aren’t even aware of their true power. For the older generation, the wealthy quincy bloodlines have made deals with Orpheus, Cerberus and any other businesses.
