In what was one of the most exciting shootout's i've ever seen, in only 8 starts rookie denny hamlin with help from jimmie johnson and tony stewart wins the bud shootout..congrats to hamlin, i really didn't expect him to win in his first shootout.

He didn't just win the Shootout, he DOMINATED the Shootout. He led 16 laps, only beaten by Ken Schrader on laps led (by 1), and at one point, NASCAR.com timing had Hamlin leading by .4 seconds, which is UNHEARD OF in restrictor plate racing. Also unheard of is 193 MPH down the entire Superstretch... this Denny Hamlin kid is going far.

Carl got 3 penalties total. Apparently the Oval Office force-persuaded him into a new mindset, and he has recanted his "outburst".
